The North Delta varsity boys basketball team continue to improve each game, according to head coach Brad Wilson.

The team started playing basketball late due to football playoffs, and are doing well. The team consists of two seniors, so they are relying on some younger players to help.

They traveled to Clarksdale to take on 2A Lee Academy in a non district game on December 8 and came out with a huge 46-38 victory over the Colts. This win helped give the Green Wave the needed momentum to play with any team. Getting off to a slower start and having a young team has been a little bit of a struggle for the team, but improvements have come each game.

Stepping up big for the team and scoring 16 points was Taylor Herron. Senior John Terry Moore followed him with 9 points. Junior Hunter West scored 6 points and junior Bateman Greenlee scored 5 points. Geri Lamm added 4 points to the board and Michael Johnson added 3 more.

The Green Wave continued in basketball action on Monday when they traveled to Marvell, Ark. to take on the Eagles in a district game. The Green Wave defeated the Eagles 46-37 for a huge district victory.

Herron was the leading scorer with 17 points and he had eight rebounds for the Green Wave team. John Terry Moore scored 14 points and had 6 rebounds. Bateman Greenlee added 7 points and rebounded 7 times. Hunter West scored 4 points, had 4 rebounds, and had 4 steals.

Head Green Wave Coach Brad Wilson said that he was proud of his team and that they were working hard and doing good.

The team is finished until January 4, 2008, when they host Deer Creek in non-conference action.
