Miss. state championship games set, to be televised

The stage is set for the 10 teams to vie for the five state championship spots in Mississippi.

Action begins Friday at 2:30 p.m. with the 2A teams of West Bolivar in the north and Taylorsville in the south.

The 5A matchup will feature South Panola for the north and George County out of the south at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s action will begin at 11 a.m. with 1A teams Ray Brooks out of the north and Puckett for the south.

At 3 p.m. Kickoff for the 3A championship will be between Louisville from the north and reigning state champion Franklin County from the south.

The final game will be the 4A championship between Noxubee County and Laurel at 7 p.m.

South Panola will dismiss early on Friday using the shortened Tuesday schedule, according to superintendent Dr. Keith Shaffer. Advance tickets will be sold at South Panola High School from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday for $10. South Panola, which has 2,500 allotted,receives half of their advance sales.

South Panola, as are all the north teams, is the visitor this year and will sit on the north side of the stadium.

For those who cannot attend the game, all state championship games will be televised live on Mississippi Public Broadcasting and through the internet www.mpbonline.org. For televisions without cable or satellite that is Channel 18.

The game will also be broadcast through local station WBLE 100.5 FM.
