The South Panola Tigers closed out the 2007 regular season with a 45-21 win over DeSoto Central in a Thursday night matchup. This is the sixth straight year the Tigers have gone undefeated in regular season.
Senior football players, cheerleaders and band members were recognized pregame and halftime. Senior defensive lineman Jemarcus Hardrick put the icing on the cake Thursday night. After the snap and hold was muffed after the final touchdown, holder Xavier Lee picked up the ball and started for the end zone. He spotted a wide open Hardrick and threw the ball.
Being alert, Hardrick made the catch and rolled into the end zone for the two-point conversion.
The Tigers, ranked No. 3 by Sports Illustrated, are 11-0 overall, 7-0 district and hold a 71-game winning streak, which is the longest active streak in the nation. South Panola is 85-1 in six seasons.
