South Panola

In the midst of television crews and mass media, South Panola held off  a determined Tupelo Golden Wave team, 22-9. The Tigers amassed 335  rushing yards in parts due to 287 yards by Darius “Tig” Barksdale on 31 carries. Barksdale also scored three touchdowns.

The Tigers (8-0 overall, 4-0 district) extend their win streak to 68 with this win. Friday, the Tigers will be at Southaven.

North Panola

Independence 34, North Panola 14
North Panola was down 21-0 at half time and pulled within 21-14 in the second half.

  Independence forced six North Panola turnovers to give the Cougars its first Region 3- 3A lose of the year with a 34-14 victory in Sardis.

Lacy Jackson returned the opening kickoff 72 yards for the Wildcats who improved to 5-3 and 3-2 in district action.  D.J. Newson caught a 59-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Jeremy Langston. Newson also had a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown.

 
Trey Tucker had a 75-yard kickoff return while Bruce Wilbourn added a 1-yard TD run to pace North Panola. The Cougars fell to 4-4; 3-1 and will travel to Senatobia next Friday.

North Delta won 40-10.
