That was not more evident than against Columbus Friday night who ran up a 14-0 halftime score on the Tigers. It has been a while since the Tigers found themselves shutout at halftime.

Playing with both starting cornerbacks Montez Austin and Bud Barksdale, the Tigers climbed on the back of starting senior tailback Tig Barksdale and crawled out of the hole to take a 21-14 victory. Barksdale scored two touchdowns on the night while amassing 175 yards on 24 carries.

Quarterback David Renfroe scored on a six-yard run to tie the game at 14.

Columbus was threatening to score with 1:27 left in the game to tie the score or go ahead on a two-point conversion if they got a touchdowns, but the Tiger defense which had been having trouble all night long forced a turnover on downs on fourth and five from the seven yard line.

South Panola will be at home to host Tupelo Friday night in more district action.
