COLLIERVILLE, Tenn.– Steve Alan Burford, 51, died Thursday, August 23, 2007, at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. He was the brother of Bernard Burford of Courtland.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Thyatira Church of Christ in Senatobia. Burial will be in Thyatira Cemetery in Senatobia. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Burford, born Feb. 1, 1956, in Memphis to S. Joe and Clara Frances Bishop Burford, was a member C.P.A. with the Financial Strategy Group of Memphis. He graduated from Independence High School in 1973. Following high school he attended and graduated from Northwest Junior College and continued his education at the University of Mississippi where he received a bachelor of arts degree in mathematics. He went on to the Memphis State University and received his master’s degree in tax accounting.
He was a member of Ross Road Church of Christ in Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lynn Burford.
Survivors along with his brother include: his wife, Debbie Waldrip Burford of Collierville, Tenn.; his parents, Joe and Clara Bishop Burford of Coldwater and his brother, Randal Burford of Summertown, Tenn.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Agape of Memphis or the Memphis Zoo.
SARDIS– Lenard C. Hulsey, 70, died Monday, August 20, 2007, at his residence.
There will be no services. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Hulsey, born Sept. 15, 1936, in Oxnard, Calif. to the late Calvin Otis and Annie Maude Jordan Hulsey, was a tool and die maker for Thermos Company. He served in the United States Army and Air Force. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Survivors include: his wife, Agnes “Louise” Bayne Hulsey of Sardis; three daughters, Pamela Ann Hulsey Hoff of Oakview, Calif., Cindy Marie Hulsey of Ventura, Calif. and Sherry Kay Kennedy of Winslow, Ark.; one son, Leonard Calvin “Buddy” Hulsey Jr.; one sister, Mary Ellen Hulsey Boyd of Normangee, Texas and nine grandsons.
ENID– Rev. Mary Selby Martin, 91, died Saturday, August 25, 2007.
Services were Monday at Newsom Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery in Charleston. Newsom Funeral Home had charge.
Martin was a former pastor and member of Friendship Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Ward Martin, and a grandson, Robbin Martin.
Survivors include: two daughters, Till Dubois of Southaven and Margie Little of Crowder; one son, Buddy Martin of Enid; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
SENATOBIA– Rebecca “Becky” Smith, 69, died Wednesday, August 24, 2007, at her residence.
There will be no services. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Smith, born July 10, 1938, in Kosciusko to the late Robert J. and Frances Cochran Smith, was a sales clerk.
Survivors include: three sisters, Bobbie Smith Neufeld of Springfield, Mo., Kathryn Smith Montague of Seymour, Mo. and Mickie Smith Clark of Oakland and one brother, Ralph Edward Smith of Senatobia.
FRANKSTON, Texas– James Lee Tyson, 30, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 in Palestine, Texas. He was the father of Jason Tyson of Batesville.
Services were Thursday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Frankston, Texas. Rev. Doug Howell officiated. Burial was in Guiceland Cemetery in Grapeland, Texas. Thompson Funeral Home had charge.
Tyson, born Jan. 9, 1977, in Webster, Texas, was a crane operator.
Survivors along with his son Jayson include: his son Caleb Tyson of Crockett, Texas; his mother, Ann Tyson Stine of Frankston, Texas; his father, Joseph Tyson of Charleston; his grandfather, F.J. Kimmey of Mt. Enterprise, Texas; and one brother, David Tyson of Deatsville, Ala.
