Karate Awards

Several members from the Batesville Karate Club and the Quitman County Martial Arts Club traveled to Ridgeland to attend “Heavy Hitters,” the second tournament of the Southern Martial Arts Spring Series.
There were approximately 200 competitors in attendance, competing in forms, sparring and weapons.
Trophy winners from the Batesville Karate Club were J.D. Mills, second in forms and sparring; Kevin Nendza, third in forms, first in sparring; and Braliegh Sanders, second in forms, fourth in sparring.
Trophy winners from Quitman County Martial Arts include Michael Cook, first in forms, third in weapons and sparring; Lacambrise Webb, second in forms, first in sparring; Johnny Webb, first in forms and sparring; Dawayne Lloyd Jr., second in forms, first in sparring; Kalvin Flowers Jr., second in forms and sparring; Velma Webb, fourth in forms, first in sparring; Russell Furr, first in forms and sparring; and Jawon Allen, first in forms, third in sparring.
The Batesville club is sponsored by the City of Batesville Parks and Recreation Commission.
