Six defendants referred to grand jury By Emily Williams Six defendants were referred to the grand jury on felony charges during Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday. Eddie Henderson, 112 Williams St., Batesville, asked Judge Bill McKenzie for a bond reduction from the original bond that was set for $25,000. Henderson was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, kidnapping, petit larceny, disorderly conduct-failure to comply. "If he does get a bond reduction we would like a restraining order from the apartments (he allegedly burglarized)," said Detective Lee Martin. The judge granted his request and reduced his bond to $10,000 and told him to stay away from the apartments. Kevin Montgomery, 812 W. Washington, Greenwood, was bound over to the grand jury for embezzlement. Stephen Utz, 108 Northwells, Kosciusko, was bound over to the grand jury for prescription forgery. Raymond Flowers, Felisha Hunt and Latonya Cole, all of 170 Greenbriar, Courtland, were transferred to the grand jury for grand larceny. Pamela Nissen, 14 CR 528, Harmontown, had a grand larceny charge remanded to the files pending good behavior. Shoplifting Contempt Other Affiant Iris White spoke on behalf of her juvenile daughter and said that Fondren hit her daughter at school after a "winter ball." Both defendant and affiant told the judge that the school had disciplined them. No one else witnessed the incident. "The school has already handled this and I am going to dismiss it," the judge said. Chris Herring, 230-A Carlisle Rd., Courtland, had trespassing and disturbance of the peace charges dismissed after the affiant, Rebecca Carlisle, failed to appear to prosecute the case. The charges were filed two years ago. Malcolm Arnold, 149 Richardson Rd., Louisville, had a domestic violence-simple assault charge continued. Kellye Farris, 125 Panola Ave., Batesville, was given a lower fine of $305 for disorderly conduct-failure to comply. Yolanda Vaughn, 150 MLK, Apt. C-2, Batesville, had a false pretense charge withdrawn. Kevin Brown, 1330 Hadorn Rd., Batesville, entered a guilty plea to false information, public drunk, no driver’s license and careless driving. Louisiana police also have an investigative hold on him. The judge sentenced him to time served for the seven days he served and sentenced him to seven more days to serve with no fine imposed. Cases set for trial He was fined $412. Tickets Kendrick Barr, 101 Martinez St., Batesville, was fined $356 for driving while license suspended. Connie Shegog, 202 Gordon Dr., Batesville, entered a "not guilty" plea to running a stop sign and was fined $131 for no child restraint. She will have a trial for the stop sign violation January 10. Daniel C. Tindall, 136 Elenor, Sardis, was fined $265 for open container. William Rudd, 113 Hentz Rd., Pope, was fined $540 for expired tag and driving while license suspended. Terry J. Miles, 200 King St., Batesville, had a lower insurance fine of $183 after providing proof insurance was purchased after the ticket was issued. Tyrone Griffin, 6758 Curtis Rd., Batesville, had a careless driving and driving while license suspended case continued. Joe K. Draper of 2875 Parks Place Rd., Como, was fined $693 for expired tag and driving while his license is suspended. Nafreda L. Bobo, 201 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, was fined $464 for no proof of insurance and no driver’s license. The no proof of insurance ticket was reduced after he provided proof he purchased insurance after the ticket was issued. |
