‘Blue woman robber’ tells judge he?s got the wrong person
By Emily Williams

Four suspects charged with the robbery of Rascals Fastlane located on Highway 6 West and Woodland on Halloween night, had a preliminary hearing on charges of armed robbery during Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday.

Judge Bill McKenzie explained that this was just a "probable cause" hearing and the case would be referred to the grand jury.

John Lowry and Marcus Lester, both of 260 Broken Oak Rd., Brandon, Heather Cox of 1234 Mudline Rd., Enid and Mark Trotter of 136 Archer Avenue, Jackson, were all charged with taking a cash drawer from Rascals #20 with $628.13 worth of cash in it by the use of a knife, and then fleeing the scene.

Cox, who witnesses said was dressed in blue jeans and a blue bra and was covered with blue paint that night, was the alleged woman with the knife. Her three male accomplices waited in the truck, they said.

Cox told Judge McKenzie she was the victim of mistaken identity.

"It was Larry Hines dressed as a female," she said.
Detective Paul Shivers testified that the victim at the convenient store had identified Cox as the one with the knife.

All three male defendants told Judge McKenzie that they were asleep the entire time of the incident.

After Judge McKenzie determined that all of the defendants were "flight risks," he rejected their requests for a lower bond. The bonds for Lowry, Lester and Trotter are set at $30,000; Cox’s bond is $50,000.
