OLIVER, James Earl
     SARDIS – James Earl Oliver, 53, died Sunday, August 7, 2005.
     Services are tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Peter M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Odell Draper Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Oliver, born Oct. 20, 1951, in Sardis to Maggie Sanders and the late Will Henry Oliver, was a member of Longtown Church of God and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
     Survivors, along with his mother, include one daughter, Angela McNeal of Como; one son, Undrea L. Oliver of Independence; one brother, Will Oliver Jr. of Sardis; three sisters, Shirley Oliver of Sardis, Jessie Brown of Como and Marie Moore of Jonesboro, Ark. and three grandchildren.

OLIVER, Lillie Bell
     BATESVILLE–Lillie Bell Oliver, 84, died Friday, Feb. 25, 2005, at her residence.
     Services are Sunday at 1 p.m. at Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church. Rev. Gregory Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Oliver, born Feb. 4, 1921, in Batesville to the late Harry Pegues and the late Ellen Kimmons, was a homemaker and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church.
     Survivors include eight daughters, Eva Hentz of Pope, Wanda Oliver and Erica Harris, both of Batesville, Annie Bell Brooks of Oakland, Calif., Gloria Oliver of Fresno, Calif., Dorothy Mobley of San Jose, Calif., Bernice Shaw of Haywood, Calif. and Joyce Oliver of Stockon, Calif.; three sons, Lawrence Oliver of Memphis, Tenn., Stanley Oliver of Atlanta, Ga., and Willie Ed Oliver of Oakland, Calif.; two sisters, Bertha Young of Batesville and Minnie Lee Caldwell of Ben Harbour, Mich.; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

OLIVER, Marion Cecille Prescott
     BATESVILLE – Marion Cecille Prescott Oliver, 60, died Friday, July 8, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were Tuesday at McPeters Chapel in Corinth. Bro. Ralph Culp officiated. Burial was in Corinth National Cemetery. McPeters Funeral Home had charge.
     Oliver, born June 8, 1945, in Corinth to the late James Marion and Emily Kathryne Messner Prescott, enjoyed reading, gardening, growing flowers and her grandchildren.
     She was preceded in death by her brother, Eugene "Beany" Prescott.
     Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Roy Wayne Oliver of Batesville; one daughter, Michelle Baker and husband Jerry of Chapmansboro, Tenn.; two brothers, Jimmy Prescott and Larry Prescott, both of Chicago, Ill.; one sister, Diane Koszyk of Batesville and four grandchildren, Ben, Helen, Elisha and Jerry III of Chapmansboro, Tenn.

OSWALT, Otis M.
     Lenexa, Kan. – Otis M. Oswalt, 88, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
     Services were yesterday at the First Baptist Church of Overland Park in Kansas City, Mo. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery. Park Lawn Funeral Home had charge.
     Oswalt, born July 30, 1917, in Yazoo City, was a WWII Navy veteran and worked as an accountant. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, American Legion, and I.O.O.F.
     Survivors include three brothers, Jim Oswalt of Overland Park, Kan., Chuck Oswalt of DeSoto, Kan. and Bill Oswalt of Wichita, Kan.; four sisters, Christine Bush of Jackson, Mildred Bailey of Oakland, Loyce Fugitt of Overland Park, Kan. and Lurline Myers of Lenexa, Kan. and many nieces and nephews.

OTTS, Frederick "Fred" Lee
     MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Frederick "Fred" Lee Otts, 50, died Monday, July 25, 2005, at his residence. He was the son of Roosevelt and Christine A. Otts of Batesville.
     Services were Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church with full Memphis Police Department honors. Rev. Gary Roberson and Rev. Terry Tribble officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Otts, born Sept. 1, 1954, in Frankford, Germany, was the owner of Proact Security Services of Memphis, Tenn. and served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman (MP) and was discharged as a sergeant. He was also a retired Memphis Police officer with 16 years of service.
     Survivors, along with his parents, include two daughters, Chasity Shannon Otts Edmonson of Bartlett, Tenn. and Kimberly Jane Otts of Cordova, Tenn.; one son, Frederick Lee Otts Jr. of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Catherine Otts Carithers of Southaven; one brother, Alan D. Otts of Covington, Tenn.; two grandsons.

OZBIRN, Annie
     HAMILTON, Ala. – Annie Ozbirn, 97, formerly of Batesville, died Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were Friday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Ray Owens officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Ozbirn, born June 15, 1908, in Guin, Ala. to the late Jimmy and Donnie Cantrell Williams, was a homemaker and a Baptist.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Harley Ozbirn.
     Survivors include two step-children, J.C. Ozbirn and Virginia Mays; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.
