FARRIS, Jonah William "J.W."
     BATESVILLE – Jonah William "J.W." Farris, 67, died Monday, October 24, 2005, at his residence.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tim Ellis will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Farris, born Feb. 28, 1938, in Lambert to the late Jonah William and Madge Cooner Farris Sr., was a self – employed contractor and was a Korean Veteran serving in the United States Army.
     Survivors include two daughters, Cathy Lynn Farris Morgan of Batesville and Michelle Louise Baker of Southaven; one sister, Sylvia Farris Rorie of Atoka, Tenn.; two half – sisters, Lorene Mills of Crowder and Genette Bowman of Ruleville; one half – brother, John Oswalt of Starkville and two grandchildren.

FAUST, Billy Hugh
     MARKS –  Billy Hugh Faust, 67, died Monday, May 30, 2005, at his residence in Marks of cancer.
     Services were Wednesday at Kimbro Funeral Home. Rev. James Tidwell and Dr. Laurie Jones officiated. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Faust, born Sept. 14, 1936, in Tutwiler, was a member of the Marks Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years and served as fire chief for five years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Marks and was a U.S. Army veteran.
     Survivors include his wife, Dot Faust of Marks; three daughters, Karen Cummins of Madison, Sharon LaRochelle of Laurel and Billie "Bug" Broussard of Pass Christian; one brother, Gene Faust of Lambert and five grandchildren.

FIELDS, Ethel Gregg "Granny"
     BATESVILLE- Ethel Gregg "Granny" Fields, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were Saturday, Jan. 22, at Dickins Chapel. Rev. Paul Middleton officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Fields, born Dec. 5, 1930, in Lafayette County, to the late Honel Lamar Rogers and the late Julia Myrtle Fuller Rogers, was retired from Panola Mills and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
     Survivors include four sons, Wayne, Ronald and David Gregg, all of Batesville and Kirby Gregg of Potts Camp; one daughter Brenda Gregg Beard of Batesville; one brother, Donald Rogers of Etta; four sisters, Donnie Evelyn Garrison of Walls, Merlene Ferrell of Red Banks, Mildred Churchill and Rebecca Jenkins, both of New Albany; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

FINKE, Sidney C.
     CHARLESTON–Sidney C. Fink, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at his residence.
     Services are tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Newsom Funeral Home in Charleston. Burial will be in Charleston Cemetery. Newsom-Funeral Home has charge.
     Survivors include one daughter Vicki Sanders of Cascilla; one son Larry Finke of Slidell, La.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

FINN, Frances Clair Wilson
     CRENSHAW – Frances Clair Wilson Finn, 70, died Saturday June 25, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
     Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Sardis. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Finn, born Dec. 18, 1934, in Sledge to the late Ira and Maudie Alliene Jaco Wilson, was a homemaker and a Pentecostal.
     Survivors include her husband, Robert Finn Sr. of Crenshaw; two daughters, Marilyn Renee Holland of Marks and Vicki Lynn Nolan of Batesville; two sons, Robert Finn Jr. of Arkabutla and Mike Grubbs of Thaxton; two sisters, Betty Brown and Mildred Young, both of Sardis; two brothers, Billy Wilson of Coldwater and Eddie Davis of Crenshaw; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

FLAKE, Earl Tindall
     SARDIS – Earl Tindall Flake, 75, died Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Bolivar County Medical Center in Cleveland.
     Services were Tuesday at Moore-Nowell Funeral Home Chapel. Hal Johnson officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Moore-Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
     Flake, born July 1, 1930, in Walnut to the late Luther Wesley and Lessie Mae Barnes Flake, was a retired employee of A & B Battery Factory and a Baptist.
     Survivors include his wife, Mary Fuller Flake of Sardis; one son, Gordon Earl Flake of Coldwater; three daughters, Joyce Scott of Covington, Tenn., Regina Taylor of LaCinta, Ky. and Joy Crawford of Atoka, Tenn.; five sisters, Cloyce Johnson of Clearwater, Fla., Mildred Hodges of Sardis, Virginia Agastina of Hernando, and Kathryn Denson and Mary Danmire, both of Walnut; two brothers, Gene Flake of Walls and Billy Flake of Munford, Tenn.; seven grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

FLOWERS, Kalvin
     BATESVILLE- Kalvin Flowers, 42, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
     Services were Sunday at Pilgrims Rest M.B. Church. Burial was in Pilgrim Rest. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
     Flowers was a truck driver.
     Survivors include his wife Patricia B. Flowers of Batesville; one daughter Amberly Patrice Flowers of Batesville; two sons, Jabari Flowers and Kalvin M. Flowers, both of Batesville; his father Joe Willie Flowers Sr. of Batesville; five sisters, Dianna Flowers, Shirley Flowers and Jacqueline Flowers, all of Courtland, Juanita Flowers of Batesville and Sandra McCollins of Pope and six brothers, Joe Willie Flowers Jr. of Pope, Kenneth Flowers, Tidyler Flowers, Vernon Flowers, Aundra Flowers and Stacy Flowers, all of Batesville.

FORD, Ethel L.
     BATESVILLE – Ethel L. Ford, 81, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at New Bethlehem M.B. Church in Batesville. Rev. W.L. Nash will officiate. Burial will be in New Bethlehem Cemetery in Batesville. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Ford, born June 21, 1923, in Batesville to the late John Lee and the late Lula Hudson, was a housewife and a member of New Bethlehem M.B. Church.
     Survivors include four daughters, Amy Adair Conner, Inez Lee and Eunice Adair, all of Batesville, and Rosie Trantham of Harvey, Ill; two sons, Randy Lee and Michael Lee, both of Batesville; one sister, Ivory Nona King, of Batesville and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

FORTNER, Edna Maude
     COURTLAND – Miss Edna Maude Fortner, 94, died September 17 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto Health Care.
     Born in Panola County on April 24, 1911, to the late John Bard and Girtha Newsom Fortner, she is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
     Services were held Tuesday, September 20, at Moore-Nowell Funeral Home in Sardis. The Rev. Mike Ramage officiated. Burial was in Clear Creek Cemetery near Oxford.

FOWLER, John Coleman
     COURTLAND- John Coleman Fowler, 89, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, at his residence, of heart failure.
     Services are tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Eureka Methodist Church in Courtland. Robert L. Wilcutt and Dr. Walter T. Hudson will officiate. Burial will be in Eureka Private Family Cemetery. Visitation is today from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Fowler, born July 30, 1915, in Panola County, to the late John Angelo and the late Nettie Hyland Fowler, was a retired carpenter.
     Survivors include two daughters, Latita Fowler Shepard Trusty of Batesville and Sara Jean Fowler Anthony of Bay Town, Texas; one son Johnny W. Fowler of Pope; two sisters, Osie Fay Fowler White of Nacogdoches, Texas and Irene Fowler Porter of Courtland; three brothers, Douglas Fowler of Courtland, Harry Fowler of Walnut and Billy Ray Fowler of Conroe, Texas; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

FRANKS, Mildred Caroline Darby
     BATESVILLE –  Mildred Caroline Darby Franks, 86, died Monday, May 23, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were Thursday at Assembly of God Church. Rev. Don Mullin and Rev. Bobby Murphree officiated. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Franks, born Jan. 14, 1919, to the late Will Darby and the late Nancy Lockley Darby, was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church.
     Survivors include one son Charles Darby of Pope; three daughters, Juanita Shelton, Shirley Alred, both of Sardis and Annette Williams of Dickerson, Tenn.; one brother A.B. Darby of Batesville; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

FRY, Betty Jo
     COMO – Betty Jo Fry, 74, died Friday, July 29, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were yesterday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Memory Hills Garden in Memphis, Tenn.
     Fry was born April 19, 1931.
     Survivors include two sons, Mike Fry of Como and Donny Joe Fry of Atoka, Tenn.; one daughter, Pamela Fry Smith; one sister, Donnie Vaccaro of Bartlett, Tenn. and one brother, Sonny Ricks of West Memphis, Ark.
