DANIEL, Jimmy Paul
     POPE –  Jimmy Paul Daniel, 58, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Tri – Lakes Medical Center.
     Graveside services were Wednesday at Drew Cemetery. Buster Thomas of Charleston officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Daniel, born Jan. 27, 1947, in Jasper, Ala. to the late Marvin Clardy Daniel and the late Jena Frances Daniel, was a retired lineman supervisor for Memphis Light, Gas and Water and an Army veteran.
     Survivors include his wife Linda McAtee Daniel of Pope; two daughters, Valerie Showers Burchfield of Pope and Elizabeth Showers McMinn of Oakland and seven grandchildren.

DANIEL, Rita Lashelle Jones
     SARDIS– Rita Lashelle Jones Daniel, 33, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at her residence of natural causes.
     Services were Tuesday at Cistern Hill M.B. Church in Como. Rev. Cedric Richardson officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home had charge.
     Daniel, born March 14, 1971, was a homemaker and a member of Cistern Hill M.B. Church.
     Survivors include her husband Christopher M. Daniel of Sardis; one daughter Myneika L. Daniel of Sardis; one son Christopher Daniel Jr. of Sardis and her mother Bennie M. Gipson Jones of Sardis and her mother-in-law Dorothy Daniel of Sardis.

DANNER, Hattie
     SARDIS- Hattie Danner, 62, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2005, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
     Services were Wednesday at Pleasant Green M.B. Church. Rev. W.O. McKinney officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Green Cemetery in Sardis.
     Danner, born Dec. 16, 1942, in Panola County, to the late George and Mattie L. Dean, was a homemaker, a member of Pleasant Green M.B. Church and an active member of the Eastern Star of Rosedale Chapter No. 5.

DARBY, Minnie Ella Grace
     POPE– Minnie Ella Grace Darby, 80, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were yesterday at Willow Springs Assembly of God Church. Rev. Tim Cleveland and Rev. John Martin officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Darby, born Nov. 23, 1924, in Panola county to the late George and Maudie Robbins Grace, was a homemaker and a member of Willow Springs Assembly of God Church for 60 years.
     Survivors include three sons, Rev. Tommy Darby, Mike Darby and Charley Darby, all of Pope; one sister Mae Jean Grace Smith of Strayhorn; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

DAVIDSON, Minnie Margaret
     TUPELO – Minnie Margaret Davidson, 88, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at North Miss. Regional Medical Center in Tupelo.
     Services were Thursday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Goshen Cemetery in Coffeeville. Rev. Doug Pepper officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Davidson, born Oct. 18, 1916, in Coffeeville, was a member of Goshen Methodist Church in Coffeeville, enjoyed sewing and yardwork.
     Survivors include one daughter, June Mitchell of Tupelo; one son, Carl Davidson Jr. of Jackson; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

DAVIS, Cliff Jr.
     Former Batesville First United Methodist Church minister Cliff Davis Jr. died Monday, July 11 in Tupelo. He was 81.
     Rev. Davis pastored in Batesville from 1960 until 1964. Memorial was Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church of Tupelo with burial in the New Albany City Cemetery. Rev. Bill McAlilly officiated. Holland Harris Funeral Directors were in charge of arrangements.
     A Guntown native, Davis grew up in New Albany and graduated from Millsaps College. He obtained his Bachelor and Master of Divinity degrees from Emory University.
     Davis also served churches in Baldwyn, Ackerman, Columbus, Tupelo, Oxford and Greenville during his 42-year career.
     He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Berylyn Stuckey Davis in 2001 and his son, Dwayne Davis in 1977.
     Survivors include one daughter, Dona Porter of Tupelo; one brother, Jack Davis of New Albany; a sister-in-law, Janie Mitchell of Florence and two grandchildren.

DAVIS, Nancie Jane
     SLEDGE  –  Nancie Jane Davis, 89, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at her residence.
     Services are tomorrow at noon at Mt. Olive M.B. Church. Rev. Lacy B. Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Burrell Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is today 1 p.m.  –  4 p.m. Delta Burial Funeral Home has charge.
     Davis was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive M.B. Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Doris, one daughter Rubie Anderson and one son J.B. Davis.
     Survivors include one daughter Emmer Wortham of Sledge; 10 grandchildren; 14 great – grandchildren; three great – great – grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

DAVIS, Lera Lester Beaird
     BATESVILLE –  Lera Lester Beaird Davis, 85, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Graceland Nursing Home in Oxford.
     Services were Friday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rusty Fair and Rev. Eugene Howell officiated. Burial was in Peach Creek Cemetery in Sardis.
     Davis, born June 3, 1920, in Pope, to the late Henry Calvin Beaird and the late Vernie Williford Beaird, was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Edward Davis and two sons, Tommy and Johnny Earl Davis.
     Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Newton of Counce, Tenn. and Billy Davis of Batesville; five daughters, Virginia Goldstien of Toledo, Ohio, Francis McMullen and Mary Jo Foster, both of Sardis, and Linda Brown and Debra Williford Keel, both of Batesville; 24 grandchildren and 38 great – grandchildren.

DAVIS, Mattie B.
     LAMBERT – Mattie B. Davis, 61, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005, at her residence.
     Services were yesterday at Crowder Assembly of God in Crowder. Rev. Murphy Eubank officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Gardens. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Davis, born Nov. 14, 1943, in Charleston was a homemaker and a member of Crowder Assembly of God.
     Survivors include her husband, David Earl Davis of Lambert; two sons, James Earl Davis of Batesville and Lewis Matthew Davis of Lambert; one daughter, Patricia Jones of Batesville; two brothers, Buster Alexander of Arkansas and Marvin Alexander of Louisiana; three sisters, Dolly Skellion of Greenville, Brenda Griffin of Oakland and Ruby Hatley of Memphis, Tenn.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

DAVIS, Minnie Randolph
     SARDIS– Minnie Randolph Davis, 86, died Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Desoto Baptist Hospital in Southaven.
     Services were Sunday at Harmonia M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial was in Mt. Level Church. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
     Davis was on the mother board at Harmonia Church.  Survivors include one daughter Margaret Amos of Matteson, Ill.; 8 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

DAVIS, Orville
     MARKS – Orville Davis, 91, died Saturday, October 29, 2005, at his residence.
     Services were yesterday at Marks Presbyterian Church. Dr. Laurie Jones officiated. Burial was in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Davis, born Feb. 12, 1924, in Lyon, was a retired farmer, a member of Marks Presbyterian Church and served in the U.S. Navy.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly Barringer Davis.
     Survivors include one daughter, Charlotte Davis Lusk of Bartlett, Tenn.; one sister, Martha Davis Lynch of Marks; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

DAVIS, Monique "Nicki"
     Funeral services will be today at 11 a.m. for Monique "Nicki" Davis, 45, of Vance, who died Saturday, March 12 at the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale of heart failure. Graveside services will be held at Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge of arrangements. Visitation will be this morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Kimbro Funeral Home.
     Ms. Davis was a retired registered nurse at the medical center in Clarksdale. She was born in Greenville on November 27, 1959 to Mrs. Kathryn J. Davis and the late Samuel L. Davis.
     Survivors include, in addition to her mother, her grandmother, Opal T. Jennings of Vance.

DAVIS, Willie Mae
     POPE –  Willie Mae Davis, 61, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. of heart failure.
     Services were Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jay Anderson officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Davis, born Nov. 28, 1943, in Hardeman County, Tenn. to the late William M. and Julia Mae Beshires Wray, was a retired real estate agent and a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.
     Survivors include her husband, Charles K. Davis of Pope; three daughters, Jan Davis of Bogaloosa, La., JoAnne Davis Arnett of Ripley, Tenn. and Charlene Davis Andreasen of Pope; one brother, Raymond Wray of Pope; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

DEAN, Christine Jackson
     SARDIS – Christine Jackson Dean, 82, died Monday, June 20, 2005, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.
     Services were yesterday at Moore Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jim Cox officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
     Dean, born Dec. 21, 1922, to the late Dunlap and Ada Taylor Jackson, was formerly employed by the Sardis Luggage Company as a secretary. She was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Dean Sr.
     Survivors include one son, Jessie Dean Jr. of Ft. Worth, Texas; one sister, Janice Douglas of Batesville; one brother, Vernon Jackson of Sardis; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

DEANE, John Francis "Fox"
     SARDIS – John Francis "Fox" Deane, 57, died Saturday, October 1, 2005, at his residence.
     Services are tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Father Sam Messina will officiate. Visitation is today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Dean, born December 4, 1947, to Phyllis Noltimeyer Deane of Memphis, Tenn. and the late John Joseph Deane in Detroit, Mich., was a member of St. Mary?s Catholic Church and was retired from the maintenance department at Georgia Pacific Corp. He was also a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
     Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Sandra Gray Deane of Sardis; two daughters, Cathy Deane Howell of Sardis and Suzy Deane Snell of Horn Lake; two sisters, Sandra Deane Christenberry of Washington, D.C. and Sheila Deane Goode of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Pete Deane of Whitebiro, Idaho; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

DEAR, Audrey June Wilkes
     SLEDGE – Audrey June Wilkes Dear, 78, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn.
     Services were Saturday at Kimbro Funeral Home. Rev. John Parker officiated. Burial was in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Dear, born Feb. 15, 1927, in Newton, Ala., was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of Marks Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Melinda Carol Bullard.
     Survivors include her husband Edgar L. Dear Jr. of Sledge; two sons, Edgar L. Dear III of Cordova, Tenn. and Walter Kevin Dear of Senatobia; one daughter Peggy Gaddy of Marks; one sister Anita Bartholomew of Mobile, Ala. and nine grandchildren.

DePRIEST, Hillard Earl
     ABBEVILLE – Hillard Earl DePriest, 84, died Friday, September 2, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.
     Services were Monday at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial was in Abbeville Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home had charge.
     DePriest, born to the late Dewey and Montie DePriest, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a disabled veteran. He was a cattleman and farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Darrell DePriest; one sister, Juanita Watkins and two brothers, Ernest DePriest and Cleo DePriest.
     Survivors include his wife, Arlie Mae DePriest of Abbeville; two daughters, Shirley Baldwin and Linda Kisner, both of Abbeville; two sons, Danny DePriest and Keith DePriest, both of Abbeville; three sisters, Frances Lovelady of Batesville, Joyce Woodard of Yulee, Fla. and Bonnie Jean McPherson of Lakeland, Fla.; three brothers, Wayne DePriest of Elkhart, Ind., Billy DePriest and Lonnie DePriest, both of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

DICKSON, Vivian Blakely
     DUCK HILL- Vivian Blakely Dickson, 79, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Grenada Lake Medical Center of heart failure.
     Services were Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at Gore Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Carl Morris and Rev. Terry Edwards officiated. Burial was in Red Hill Cemetery in Duck Hill. Garner-Harper Funeral Home had charge.
     Dickson, born Feb. 1, 1926, to the late Shed Hill Blakely and the late Lena Bell Blakely, was a member of Unity Baptist Church. She was past WMU director in Calhoun County, Acteens Organizer and was instrumental in the organization of the Food Pantry in Calhoun County.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Don E. Dickson and one brother Terrell Blakely.
     Survivors include one daughter Amber Dickson Morgan of Red Hill; three sons, Don Dickson of Batesville, Eddie Dickson and Allen Dickson, both of Midland, Texas; two brothers, Joe Max Blakely of Gore Springs and Jack Blakely of Duck Hill; three sisters, Virginia Thompson, Mamie Bell Fowler and Yvonna Threadgill, all of Duck Hill; six grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

DORR, Marie Stewart
     SARDIS – Marie Stewart Dorr, 80, died Friday, July 1, 2005, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.
     Memorial services were Monday at Sardis United Methodist Church. Jim Cox officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
     Dorr, born Nov. 17, 1924, in Greenwood to the late Walter Lee and Connie Lewis Stewart, was a homemaker and a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.
     Survivors include her husband, William Dorr of Sardis; two sons, Bill Dorr of Jacksonville, Fla. and Jimmy Dorr of Senatobia; three brothers, Carlton Stewart of Tupelo, Travis Stewart of Dallas, Texas and Boyd Stewart of Batesville and one grandchild.

DOVER, Pearl S.
     COMO- Pearl S. Dover, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
     Services were Saturday at Harmontown Baptist Church. Rev. James Pinkerston officiated. Burial was in Harmontown Baptist Cemetery in Como. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
     Dover, born July 24, 1926, in Alabama, to the late J.T. and Altha Cook Sprouse, was a housewife.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Bill Dover.
     Survivors include one son, Oscar Scruggs Jr. of Como and one sister, Earnestean S. Bryant of Columbus.  

DOVER, Ronald Eugene "Ronnie"
     POPE – Ronald Eugene "Ronnie" Dover, 53, died Thursday, November 3, 2005, at his sister’s residence in Olive Branch.
     Graveside services were Sunday at Marks Cemetery. Rev. Roy Hartzell and Rev. Tim Mims officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Dover, born March 24, 1952, in Marks, was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy and a member of Darling Baptist Church.
     Survivors include four sisters, Linda O’Neal of Marks, Brenda Parks of Olive Branch and Barbara Bailey and Wanda Morrison, both of Oxford.

DOYLE, Theatrice Price
     COMO –  Theatrice Price Doyle, 81, died Monday, November 21, 2005, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
     Services are Saturday, November 26, 2005, at 1 p.m. at St. James Church of God in Christ in Como. Burial will be in Senatobia Memorial Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.
     Doyle was a homemaker and a member of St. James Church of God in Christ.
     Survivors include her husband Amos Doyle; three daughters, Alean Ellis of Como and Aletha Price Lee and Mary Price, both of Memphis, Tenn.; six sons, Curtis Ellis of Como, Howard Price Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., Warren Price, Ralph Price, Harry Price and Burnell Price, all of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister Charlie Ann Bell of San Bernadino, Calif.; 28 grandchildren and 11 great – grandchildren.

DRAPER, Sherry
     SARDIS- Sherry Draper, 51, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, from injuries received during an automobile accident.
     Services are tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home. Hodges Funeral Home has charge.
     Draper, born to the late Hugh White Vaughn and the late Lurlean Joiner Draper, was a native of Lafayette county and employed by Batesville Job Corps Center Food Services in Batesville.
     Survivors include her husband Willie Draper of Batesville; three daughters, Pamela Norwood and Sharhonda Draper, both of Batesville and Sandra White of Sardis; one son, Russell Draper of Sardis; her step-father, Jessie Draper of Oxford and her step-mother Jean Vaughn of Chicago, Ill.; five sisters, Lore Rice of St. Louis, Mo., Janice Vaughn, Angie Vaughn, Mary Vaughn and Patrice Vaughn, all of Chicago, Ill.; six brothers, Robert Vaughn and Carl Draper, both of Oxford; Willie Vaughn, Donald Draper and Kenny Draper, all of St. Louis, Mo. and Hugh White Jr. of Chicago, Ill. and seven grandchildren.

DRAPER, Sydnee Jenae-
     BATESVILLE – Sydnee Jenae- Draper was stillborn Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Methodist Germantown Hospital.
Draper was born to Sybil J. Draper and Robert Pride Jr.
     Services were Saturday at Concord M.B. Church. Burial was in Concord M.B. Church Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home had charge.
     Survivors, along with her parents, include her grandparents, Jerry and Phyllis Draper and Robert and Essie Pride Sr., all of Batesville and her great-grandparents, Earnestine McCain and Stanford and Jewell Draper, all of Batesville.
