BAILY, James Lamar
     CROWDER –  James Lamar Bailey, 73, died Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Quitman County Hospital.
     Services were Friday at Crowder Baptist Church. Rev. Larry Kilgore and Rev. Rusty Fair officiated. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
     Bailey, born Feb. 6, 1932, in Attala County to the late Mr. and Mrs. Earl Bailey, was a member of Crowder Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Air Force and was a retired corrections officer for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
     He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Holland Bailey, and one brother, Perry Wasson Bailey.
     Survivors include two sons, Randy Lamar Bailey of Crowder and Darron Lane Bailey of Southaven; one daughter, Tammy Bailey Houston of Olive Branch; one brother, Harold Wayne Bailey of Crowder; four sisters, Earline Bailey White of Crowder, Louise Bailey Wimberly of Lambert, Shirley Bailey Vowell of Batesville and Sue Bailey Sutton of Lambert and six grandchildren.

BAKER, Dennis Murphree II
     BATESVILLE- Dennis Murphree Baker II, 47, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at his residence.
     Services are today at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Batesville. Rev. Russell Fletcher and Rev. Keith Keeton will officiate. Burial will be in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
     Baker, born May 31, 1957, to Dennis Murphree Baker and Janelle Anthony Baker, was the senior cost accountant for Hickory Springs Manufacturing Company in Tupelo. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, member of Ducks Unlimited, where he served on the executive committee and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was all-state in high school football and basketball, a member of the University of Mississippi basketball team his freshmen year, president of the United Methodist Men, an avid sportsman and hunter, and he enjoyed woodworking. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a bachelors and a masters degree in accounting.
     Survivors include his father and mother, Judge Dennis and Janelle Baker of Batesville; his wife Connie Nickle Graves Baker of Batesville; one son Brendan Graves Baker of Batesville; two sisters, Jonell Baker Williamson of Jackson and Kathleen Baker Cruzen of Germantown, Tenn., and eight nieces and nephews.
     Memorials may be made to the family life center of the First United Methodist Church or ALS Association and Mid-South chapter in Memphis, Tenn. In addition, the Panola County Bar Association has established the Graves Baker Trust Fund in his honor and for the benefit of his son at First Security Bank in Batesville.

BAKER, Mary Ruth Goodnight
     SARDIS – Mary Ruth Goodnight Baker, 93, died on her birthday, Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at Sardis Community Nursing Home.
     Services were Thursday at Moore Funeral Home in Sardis. Hal Johnson officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
     Baker, born in the Black Jack Community, lived in Sardis most of her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Sardis.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor E. Baker, and one son, Billy Joe Baker.
     Survivors include two grandchildren, Melody Baker Carter of Carrollton and Billy Nolan "Blue" Baker of Sardis and three great-grandchildren, Courtney Carter of Jackson, Casey Carter of Carrollton and Hunter Nolan Baker of Sardis.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Sardis, Sardis Church of Christ or Sardis United Methodist Church.

BAKER, Robert
     CLARKSDALE – Robert Baker, 95, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at his residence of natural causes.
     Services are tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Lonoak M.B. Church in Farrish. Burial will be in Lonoak Cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home has charge.
     Baker, born July 16, 1909, was a domestic worker.

BALLARD, Reverend Walter C.
     BATESVILLE – Reverend Walter C. Ballard, 78, died Saturday, August 27, 2005, at his residence.
     Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Sanford, Rev. Ray Legge and Rev. Gerald Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Ballard, born Nov. 3, 1926, in St. Joseph, La., to the late C.C. and Lenora Russell Ballard, was the minister for Pharsalia Baptist Church. He was the former Baptist Association Missions Director of Panola County and Tishomingo County, a member of the Civitan Club, a prison chaplain at Parchman Penitentiary and volunteer chaplain for Baptist Hospice and Home Health and North Mississippi Hospice of Oxford. He was also a volunteer for Missions at Home and several countries outside of the United States, and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the US Army.
     He was preceded in death by one son, Walter E. Ballard.
     Survivors include his wife, Stella Wilson Ballard of Batesville; two sons, Phillip Ballard of Ridgeland and Gerald Ballard of Batesville; two daughters, Linda Ballard McCreary of Ripley and Sharon Ballard Woods of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Shirley Ballard McDaniel of Newellton, La., Ola Mae Ballard Kelley of Tatum, Texas and Betty Ballard Walton of Elm Grove, La.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
     Memorials may be made to North Mississippi Hospice of Oxford or the charity of the donor’s choice.

     SENATOBIA – Leon Banks, 59, died Monday, September 26, 2005, at Baptist Desoto Hospital.
     Services were yesterday at Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.
     Banks was a deacon of Gospel Temple Church of God in Christ and a truck driver.
     Survivors include his wife, Georgia Mae Jackson Banks; three daughters, Aretha G. Smith of Sardis, Michelle Newson of Senatobia and Karen Banks of Chicago, Ill.; five sons, James Bradshaw of Houston, Texas, Isaac Banks and Andre Jackson of Senatobia, Antonio Rankins of Coldwater and Patrick Shaw of Memphis, Tenn.; his mother, Virginia Dean; three sisters, Martha Whitting of Chicago, Ill. and Jeriline Collins and Willie L. Terryman, both of Cotton Valley, La.; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

     CRENSHAW – Charles Barlow, 78, died Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Northwest Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

     Barlow, born Nov. 19, 1926, to the late Henry and Gladys Henderson Barlow in Sledge, was a member of Crenshaw Baptist Church and was a retired U.S. Merchant Marine.
     Survivors include his wife, Betty Joe Franklin Barlow of Crenshaw; two sons, John H. Barlow of Sarah and Charles Aaron Barlow of Crenshaw; four sisters, Dorothy Barlow Gregory of Sledge, Bonnie Barlow of Texas, Rosemary Barlow Cook of Sledge and Peggy Barlow Wells of Senatobia; three brothers, Billy Barlow of Sarah, Sammy Barlow of Independence and Henry Barlow of Tunica and four grandchildren.

     BATESVILLE- Charles Oscar Barlow, 59, died Monday, December 26, 2005, at Tunica Nursing Home.

     Barlow, born Sept. 14, 1946, in Panola County to the late James Woodrow Barlow and the late Lorene Taylor Barlow,
was a farmer.

BARLOW, Oscar "Papa Joe"
     CRENSHAW – Oscar "Papa Joe" Barlow, 73, died Monday, September 5, 2005, at his residence.
     Services were yesterday at Crenshaw Baptist Church. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
     Barlow was a retired employee of the Corps of Engineers, a member of Crenshaw Baptist Church and a member of the Crenshaw Fire Department. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and a Master Mason.
     Survivors include his wife, Betty S. Barlow of Crenshaw; one daughter, Sissy Hudspeth of Crenshaw; one son, Oscar Barlow Jr. of Crenshaw; three sisters, Lillian Barrett of Saltillo, Marie Moore of Angleton, Texas and Gladys Crenshaw of Water Valley; two brothers, Sherell Barlow of Eads, Tenn. and Joe Tennett of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

BARNES, Elsie Virginia Vick
     BATESVILLE –  Elsie Virginia Vick Barnes, 83, died Monday, November 14, 2005, at Tri – Lakes Medical Center.
     Services were yesterday at First Baptist Church. Dr. Johnny Spencer and Dr. Greg Johnston officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Barnes, born October 3, 1922, to the late Peter Tamlin and the late Addie Varner Vick, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Batesville and was a retired florist for Gordon’s Florist and Big Star Florist.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Lee "Frank" Barnes.
     Survivors include two sons, Michael L. Barnes of Batesville and Donald W. Barnes of Grenada; three grandchildren and four great – grandchildren.

BARONOWSKI, Kandis Jane "Candy"
     COLLIERVILLE, TENN.- Kandis Jane "Candy" Baronowski, 59, formerly of Clarksdale, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.
     Her husband, Lenny Baronowski of Collierville, Tenn., was raised in Sardis.
     Graveside services are today at 2 p.m. in Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Nowell Funeral Home had charge.
     Baronowski, born Sept. 11, 1945, to the late Don and Ester Mougey Reichelderfer, was a retired registered nurse.
     Survivors, in addition to her husband, include one daughter, Shannon Baronowski of Collierville, Tenn.; one son, Chad Baronowski of Collierville, Tenn.; one sister Ann Maree Matthews of Collierville; one brother, Donnie Reichelderfer of Clarksdale and two grandchildren.

BASKIN, William "Bill" Austin
     OLIVE BRANCH – William "Bill" Austin Baskin, 48, died July 20 at Baptist East in Memphis.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven. Burial will be in Blocker Cemetery in Olive Branch. Twin Oaks Funeral Home had charge.
     Baskin was a partner with Baskin, McCarroll, McCaskill and Campbell Law Firm. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, a graduate of Delta State University and The University of Mississippi Law School.
     Survivors include his wife Becky Baskin of Olive Branch; one son, Edward Austin Baskin of Olive Branch; one daughter Katie Nicole Baskin of Olive Branch; one brother Paul Rockwood of Crowder; 10 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces and nephews.

BASS, Hazel Bingham
     BATESVILLE – Hazel Bingham Bass, 96, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at her residence.
     Services are Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Martin Case and Rev. Charles Lipe are officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Bass, born Nov. 27, 1908, in Alcorn County to the late Charles and Ida Reynolds Bingham, was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubbard Edward Bass Sr.
     Survivors include three daughters, Jean Bass Towles and husband Spencer Towles of Batesville, Lottie Bass Whitten of Oxford and Sunny Bass Coffey and husband James Coffey of Oxford; one son, Hubbard Edward Bass Jr. and wife Faye Bass of Southaven; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren.

     BATESVILLE – John Wesley Battle Sr., 76, died Monday, August 8, 2005, at his residence.

     Battle, born Nov. 8, 1928, in Crowder to the late Glover and Luvenia Williams Battle, was a member of Spring Hill A.S.A. M.B. Church and a retired printer and bindery manager for The Panolian.
     Survivors include his wife, Shirley Kirkwood Battle; seven sons, John Wesley Battle Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa, Larry Battle of Port Isabel, Texas, Bruce Johnson of Enid, Phillip Anderson and Douglas Anderson, both of Batesville, Michael Anderson of Southaven and Harold Anderson of Denton, Texas; five daughters, Shelia Battle, Patricia Anderson and Marilyn Anderson, all of Batesville and Bonnie Davis and Marlyn Branch, both of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, J.C. Battle of Milwaukee, Wis. and Leroy Battle of Bellwood, Ill.; five sisters, Gladys Armstead of Batesville, Clara Carter of Jackson, Minnie Battle of Utica and Armelia Hoskins of Memphis, Tenn. and Katherine Battle of Indiana; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great-grandchildren.

     BATESVILLE — Willie Battle, 92, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her residence of natural causes.
     Services were Saturday at Antioch M.B. Church. Burial was in Batesville City Cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home had charge.
     Battle was a homemaker and a native of Tutwiler.

BEALL, Dudley Carlisle
     BATESVILLE- Funeral services for Dudley Carlisle Beall, 23, will be Saturday, February 12 at 2 p.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Visitation is tonight from 5-7 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home. The Rev. Jon Burnham is the officiating minister and interment will be at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.
     Beall died of natural causes at his residence in Batesville Tuesday, February 8, 2005, following a lengthy illness.
     A Batesville native, he was born May 16, 1981 to Dudley and Harriet Beasley Beall. He is also survived by a sister, Jennifer Christine "Chris" Beall Cobb of Sardis.
     An Ole Miss student, he was an honor graduate of South Panola High School and was selected Prom King. He was a member of Golden Key and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

     SARDIS – Annie Ruth Beall, 77, died Sunday, October 30, 2005, at Chicot Memorial Hospital in Lake Village, Ark.

     Beall, born March 1, 1928, in Como to the late Bryan Smith Sr. and the late Nettie Taylor Smith, was a retired teacher and guidance counselor and a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church.
     Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Thompson of Millington, Tenn., Martha Lynn Toombs of Brandon and Sandra Barrett of Camden, Ark.; one son, George Beall of Jonesboro, Ark.; one sister, Sara Smith of Como; one brother, Robert B. Smith of Como; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

BEAVERS, Chassidy Paige
     CLARKSDALE – Chassidy Paige Beavers, 17, died Saturday, August 27, 2005, from injuries received during an automobile accident.

     She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Hazel Beavers.
     Survivors include her father, James Beavers of Batesville; her step-mother, Linda Rose Beavers of Batesville; her grandmothers, Rosa Burns and Frances Beavers, both of Batesville; one brother, Stephen Shane Beavers of Batesville and her step-brothers, Larry Keith Parker Jr., John Thomas Parker and Jason Lance Parker, all of Batesville.

BELK, Jessie Breazeale
     BATESVILLE- Jessie Breazeale Belk, 82, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville of heart failure.

     Belk, born July 25, 1922, to the late John S. and Nettie Riley Breazeale, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Batesville.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Gordye W. Belk Sr. and a grandson John Reeves Belk.
     Survivors include four daughters, Mildred Belk Stanley of Deere Park, Texas, Glenda Belk Pentecost of Decatur, Ala., Bettye Belk Steward of Indianola and Mary Alice Belk Finnie of Batesville; four sons, Raymond E. Belk, Wayne Belk and James Belk, all of Batesville and Aaron Belk of Walls; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

BELL, Earnest Jr.
     BATESVILLE – Funeral services were held Wednesday for Earnest Bell Jr., 78, who died September 15 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.
     The Rev. Bernard Sanders officiated at the funeral at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church in Como. Interment was in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
     Mr. Bell was born April 21, 1927, in Sardis to Earnest Bell Sr. and Fannie McNeal.
     He was a retired construction worker and a member of Mt. Moriah M.B. Church.
     Survivors include his father, Earnest Bell Sr. of Sardis; a daughter, Jean Williams of Lake Dallas, Texas; two sons, Tony Bell of Sardis and Earnest Bell III of Memphis, Tenn.; five grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

BENNETT, Claudia Ruth
     LAMBERT –  Claudia Ruth Bennett, 83, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at St. Francis Nursing Home in Memphis, Tenn.

     Bennett, born Feb. 1, 1922, in Lapile, Ark., was a retired beautician and a member of West Marks Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband Earl Archer Bennett.
     Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Bollinger of Cordova, Tenn.; two sons, James E. Bennett of Yazoo City and Mark Edward Bennett of Jefferson City, Tenn.; one sister, Elise Gunter of Crossett, Ark.; seven grandchildren and two great – grandchildren.

BENNETT, Marion C. Jr.
     SARDIS- Marion C. Bennett Jr., 61, died Friday, December 23, 2005, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford.

     Bennett, born in Sarepta, La., July 17, 1944, to the late Marion C. Bennett Sr. and the late Mary Ruth Lowrey Bennett, was a paper mill worker.
     Survivors include his wife, Wanda Riales Bennett; one daughter, Melissa Bennett of Shreveport, La.; one step-daughter, Denise Alexander of Atlanta, Ga.; four sons, Dallas Bennett, Chris Bennett, Randy Bennett and Jason Bennett, all of Sarepta, La.; one step-son, Clinton Alexander of Sardis; one sister, Dorothy Davis of Spring Hill, La. and nine grandchildren.

BENNETT, Martha Brown
     HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Martha Brown Bennett, 93, formerly of Crenshaw, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Quapaw Care and Rehab Center in Hot Springs, Ark.
     Services are today at 2:30 p.m. at Crenshaw United Methodist Church. Rev. Ricky Haynes will officiate. Burial will be in Longtown Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.
     Bennett, born Feb. 20, 1912, in Jackson, Tenn., was a retired elementary school teacher for Crenshaw schools, active in UMW, a graduate of Delta State Teachers College, a member of Crenshaw United Methodist Church and an avid gardener. She also served on the board of the Regional Library of Hernando.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Loyd Bennett.
     Survivors include one daughter, Loretta Turner Ray of Hot Springs, Ark.; one son, Paul Bennett of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

BEVEL, James Baxter
     SOUTHAVEN – James Baxter Bevell, 89, died Monday, September 26, 2005.
     Services were yesterday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Memphis, Tenn. Burial was in Forest Hill South Cemetery. Forest Hill Funeral Home had charge.
     Bevell was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
     Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marie Bevell; two daughters, Judy Stanley of Memphis, Tenn. and Mary Elizabeth Barnes of Augusta, Ga.; four sons, Roland Bevell of LaGrande, Ore., Baxter Bevell Jr. of Scottsdale, Ariz., Jim Varner of Southaven and Randy Boren of Batesville; two sisters, Bessie Purser of Southhaven and Lucille Stroup of Batesville; 32 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

     MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Donice Kay Billingsley, 56, died Tuesday, October 18, 2005, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

     Billingsley, born Sept. 19, 1949, in Oxford to the late Elvis and Bertha Arnold Billingsley, was a member of Holy Trinity Community Church in Memphis, Tenn. and a manager at Federal Express. She was also a member of Sweet Adelines International.
     Survivors include one brother, Max Billingsley of Harmontown and two sisters, Brenda Fletcher of Olive Branch and Susan Baze of Midland, Texas.

BILLINGSLEY, Marvin E.
     SENATOBIA – Marvin E. Billingsley, 75, died Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at his residence.
     Services were Thursday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
     Billingsley was a retired salesman with Western Auto in Senatobia, a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during Korea and was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
     Survivors include his wife Virginia Billingsley of Senatobia; one sister Liona Faye Andrews of Sacramento, Calif. and one brother David W. Billingsley of Como.

BINGHAM, Louis C.  Sr.
     COMO- Louis C. Bingham Sr., 73, formerly of Vicksburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis.

     Bingham, born Oct. 16, 1932, in Vicksburg, to the late Judge Robert Bingham and the late Julia Anne Edmond Bingham, attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar School, McIntyre Jr. High School, Bowman High School, Jackson State University and Mississippi State University and was also Tennessee State University. He was a retired teacher and counselor for North Panola School District. He was a member of Cistern Hill M.B. Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a choir member secretary and member of male chorus group, October Club and NAACP. He was an adult Sunday School teacher a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity. He was a Shriner, served as worshipful master of Magnolia Lodge #58 and supported Boys and Girls Ranches of America.
     Survivors include one daughter Angela C. Bingham of Memphis; two sons, Louis Bingham Jr. of Como and Terence D. Bingham of Munich, Germany; three sisters, Priscilla Bingham Spencer and Roberta Bingham Kennedy, both of Vicksburg and Julia Bingham Thomas of Greenville and two brothers, Dr. Haskell Bingham of Petersburg, Va. and George Bingham of Grenada.

BIRD, Carrol L.
     COMO – Carrol L. Bird, 80, died Friday, November 18, 2005, at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia.
     Services were Sunday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
     Bird was a retired farmer, a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII and was a Methodist.
     Survivors include his wife, Nita Bird of Como; two sons, Bill Hall of Como and Jerry Hall of Red Banks; one sister, Eva Hanna of New York state; six grandchildren and eight grandchildren.

BISHOP, Mamie Ruth Hallmark
     MARKS- Mamie Ruth Hallmark Bishop, 93, died Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, at Quitman County Nursing Home.

     Bishop, born May 18, 1911, in Jericho, was a retired nurse’s aide.

     SARDIS – Mary H. Black, 86, died Thursday, September 29, 2005, at Methodist Germantown Hospital.

     Black was a social worker for Panola County Welfare.

Ellison of Jackson, Doloris Woodard of Batesville and Lynda Thomas of Memphis, Tenn.; six sons, Johnnie Cooper, James D. Black, Larry E. Black and Michael S. Black, all of Memphis, Tenn. and Sim H. Black and Robert E. Black, both of Detroit, Mich.; two brothers, J.P. Holloway of Manitee, Ark. and Johnson Holloway of Richmond, Calif.; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Blackburn, all of Pope; six sisters, Carrie Orr, Helen Stevens, Gasella Orr, Bertha Morris and Dorothy Flagg, all of Chicago, Ill. and Marie Nelson of Gary, Ind.; and one brother, Willie Orr of Southaven.

BLOUNT, Mary Kathleen
     LOOXAHOMA – Mary Kathleen Blount, 80, died Thursday, May 12, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
     Services are tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Pate Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia. Burial will be in Looxahoma Community Cemetery. Pate-Jones Funeral Home has charge.
     Blount was a retired seamstress from Carters Manufacturers and a member of Looxahoma Baptist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband J.B. Blount.
     Survivors include one daughter Euva Baswell of Spring Hill, Fla.; three sons, Earl Blount of Looxahoma, Robert Blount of Como and Paul Blount of Horn Lake; one brother Frank Wooten of Coffeeville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

     BATESVILLE – Ruth Cagle Blount, 82, died Friday, July 22, 2005, at Baptist Memorial in Oxford.

     Blount, born Jan. 18, 1923, in Dublin to the late James and Martha Traylor Cagle, was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired physical therapist for Family Care Clinic.
     She was preceded in death by her husband James Blount.
     Survivors include one daughter Tamsy Fairy Blount of Batesville; one sister Docia Cagle Sturgis of Horn Lake; one brother Bruce Lammie Cagle of Batesville and several nieces and nephews.

BOATRIGHT, Ross Nolan Sr.
     COURTLAND – Ross Nolan Boatright Sr., 82, died Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at Greenwood-Leflore County Hospital in Greenwood.
     Services were Sunday at Coleman Funeral Home. Brother Charles Locke officiated. Burial was in Oxford Memorial Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home had charge.
     Boatright was an Army veteran of World War II. He was an educator, a businessman, a farmer, a past member of the Oxford Lions Club, a past alderman-at-large of Oxford and a salesman for Custom Signs of Batesville. He was also a member of Courtland Baptist Church.
     Survivors include his, wife Dorothy Boatright of Courtland; two sons, Ross Nolan Boatright Jr. of Oxford and Fred Shirley; four daughters, Sandra Boatright Roy of Gautier and Judy Inman, Sherry Hall and Lisa Chambers, all of Courtland; one sister, Bonnie Wolfe of Oxford; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

BOBO, Gladys Avent
     SARDIS – Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005, for Ms. Gladys Avent Bobo, 92, who died Sunday, September 18, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

     Ms. Bobo was born on December 30, 1912, in Oxford to Oscar Avent and Nellie Nicks.
     She was a housewife and an active member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.
     Survivors include five daughters and five sons: Ruby Pride, Bonnie Bobo, Geraldine Bobo and Barbara Ann McGill, all of Sardis, Delois Robertson of Gary, Ind.; Tilton Bobo, Robert L. Bobo and Charles Bobo, all of Sardis, M.C. Buckner of Batesville and Joe Louis Bobo of Chicago, Ill.; and one sister, Eva Tarrence of Inglewood, Calif.
     She is also survived by 68 grandchildren, 125 great-grandchildren and 30 great-great grandchildren.

     BATESVILLE – Cindy Broome Bolton, 37, died Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at her sister’s home in Sardis.

     Bolton, born Aug. 26, 1967, to the late Robert H. Broome and Dorothy "Dot" Tidwell Broome, was a member of the First Baptist Church and a safety coordinator for Insituform in Batesville.
     Survivors, along with her mother, include two sons, Robert Hayden Moore and Wesley James Bolton, both of Batesville; one sister, Kelly Broome Lipscomb of Sardis and one brother, Gary Broome of Shreveport, La.

     Bowden, born April 16, 1918, in Enid, to the late Norman McLendon and the late Maggie Estridge McLendon, was a member of the Sardis Church of Christ and a housewife.

     Breazeale, born March 4, 1908, in Charleston to the late J.R.G. and Dollie Pritchet Hewlitt, was a retired librarian for the North Panola School System and a member of the Sardis Presbyterian Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband James L. Breazeale Sr.
     Survivors include one son, James L. Breazeale Jr. of Sardis; one sister, Joyce Denman of Charleston and two grandchildren.

BREWER, Mary Florence Anderson

     She was preceded in death her daughter, Patricia Hudson and her husband, Charles D. "Sonny" Britt.

     BATESVILLE – Brett Thomas Broome, 19, died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Tupelo Medical Center.

     Broome, born Oct. 23, 1985, in Oxford to Bart Broome and Christy Goodnite Broome, was a sophomore at the University of Mississippi. He was a graduate of South Panola High School, where he was active in National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and Risque Business. He was president of the Student Council and was co-captain of the Drama Team.
     He was also a member of the Ole Miss Chancellor’s Leadership class and a member of First United Methodist Church.
     Survivors, along with his parents, include his brother Dane Broome of Batesville and his grandparents, Art and Barbara Broome of Batesville and Talmadge and Carolyn Goodnite of Batesville.

     Brown was born to the late Horace M. and Belfield Snipes Brown.

     BATESVILLE- Kate Hattie Brown, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2004, at Delmar Gardens on the Green Nursing Home in St. Louis, Mo.
     Services are tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Walter Newson Jr. will officiate. Burial is in Mt. Gillion Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Brown was a retired seamstress, a member of Greater Bethel Baptist Church in Akron, Ohio, a member of the International Church Ushers Association for the state of Ohio and Akron Chapter and she was a radio personality for the church broadcast.
     Survivors include one sister Nola Galimore of Batesville; a host of nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

BROWN, Nellie Davis
     COLDWATER –  Nellie Davis Brown, 75, died Friday, November 4, 2005, at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven.
     Services were Monday at Pate – Jones Funeral Home Chapel. Al Johnson and Paul Brown officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery in Coldwater. Pate – Jones Funeral Home had charge.
     Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Antioch Church of Christ in Coldwater.
     She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Arthur Brown.
     Survivors include two sons, Steven L. Brown of Memphis, Tenn. and Paul W. Brown of Dickson, Tenn.; one sister Joyce Freeman of Independence and four grandchildren.

BROWN, Patricia Ann Spears
     CLARKSDALE– Patricia Ann Spears Brown, 55, died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.
     Graveside services are tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Marks Cemetery. Visitation is tonight from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Rev. Johnny Bley will officiate. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.
     Brown was a member of Cherry Street Baptist Church in Clarksdale, a volunteer for North Delta Baptist Association and employed with Tyson Farms.
     Survivors include one daughter Adrienne Brown of Clarksdale and her mother Sue Spears Bailey of Clarksdale.

BROWN, Willie M.
     CANTON–Willie M. Brown, 55, died Monday, April 18, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fayette.
     Services will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Coleman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Rev. Harry Key and Rev. Zannie Leland will officiate. Burial will be in Batesville Cemetery. Eddie Robinson and Son Funeral Home has charge.
     Brown, born July 3, 1949, to Lela Brown of Batesville, was a domestic worker.
     Survivors along with his mother include six sisters, Ardean Rhode of Chicago, Minnie Richardson, Rosie Williams, Margaret Pride, Delia Fondren and Ruby Henderson, all of Batesville and five brothers, Charles Sledge, Charles Brown and Roger Brown, all of Batesville, Johnny Brown of Oxford and Leon Ballentine of Milwaukee, WI.

BROWNLEE, Hazel M.
     BATESVILLE – Funeral Services for Mrs. Hazel M. Brownlee, 93, were held Wednesday, September 21 at Morgan Grove Baptist Church in Hernando.
     Mrs. Brownlee died Friday, September 16, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven.
     Visitation was held Tuesday, September 20 at M.J. Edwards Funeral Home (Whitehaven Chapel).
     Mrs. Brownlee was a faithful, dedicated member of Morgan Grove Baptist Church and O.S.C. Eastern Star Chapter #11.
     She was a devoted wife to the late Hosea A. Brownlee.
     She was preceded in death by three sons and a daughter: Aaron Cathy Brownlee, Charles Henry Brownlee, Herbert Brownlee and Dorothy Wooten.
     She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters and three sons: Olevia (Bea) Powers of Lansing, Mich.; Ada Jean Clark of Aurora, Ill.; Joyce (Robert) Downey, Pearlie (Clarence) Pilgram, Hosea Thomas Brownlee, Modis (Josephine) Brownlee of Memphis, Tenn.; and Walter (Mattie) Brownlee of Batesville; one son-in-law, Robert L. Wooten of Gary, Ind.; one daughter-in-law, Mary Brownlee of Aurora, Ill.; 2 sisters, Velma Tottenof Memphis, Tenn. and Frances Jackson of Los Angeles, Calif. and one sister-in-law, Estella Futrell of Memphis, Tenn.
     She is also survived by 54 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, 44 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

BRUNSON, Margarete Wylie
     HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Services for Margarete Wylie Brunson, 78, were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 15 at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with the Rev. Nick Sandefur officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, in Hopkinsville. She died at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, at her home of natural causes.
     A native of Princeton, she was born April 4, 1927, the daughter of the late J.D. and Edna Marie Baker Wylie. She had worked in real estate and was a member of the Gold Star Wives of America and was a Baptist. Her husband, James E. Thomas, died in 1962. Survivors include two sons, Howard C. Enoch, Framingham, Mass., James E. Thomas Jr., Cookeville, Tenn.; two daughters, Patti Thomas Larson and Jamie Fuller, both of Hopkinsville and four grandchildren, Austin Thomas, Cookeville, Tenn., Chad Larson, Oxford, Miss., Emily and Abigail Enoch, Framingham, Mass.

BULLARD, Patricia Faye Holloway
     BATESVILLE – Patricia Faye Holloway Bullard, 60, died Saturday, July 9, 2005, at Baptist North Mississippi Hospital in Oxford.
     Services were yesterday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jess Chadwick officiated. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
     Bullard, born Nov. 7, 1944, in Lambert to the late Eddie Ivy and Leslie Karrah Washington Holloway, was a homemaker and a member of Blue Lake Baptist Church.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Bullard.
     Survivors include two sons, Wesley Bullard of Crenshaw and Thomas Bailey Bullard of Tupelo; two daughters, Stacey Bullard and Tracy Bullard, both of Batesville; one brother, Jerry Holloway of Crowder; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

BUNTIN, Flake Little
     BATESVILLE–Flake Little Buntin, 95, widow of Robert Rayburn Buntin, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her residence.
     Services are Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is tonight from 6:00 – 8:00 at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Reed Buntin Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery in Charleston. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
     Buntin, born Dec. 7, 1909, in Enid, to the late John Lofton and the late Lou Zera Dare Little, was a retired nurse and also worked for Dr. Deck Stone. She was a member of First Baptist Church and an active member of the Women’s Missionary Union.
     She was preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Michael Buntin and one great-grandson Robert Andrew Buntin.
     Survivors include one daughter Jane Buntin Pierce of Nashville, Tenn.; three sons, William Reed Buntin and Jerry Lofton Buntin, both of Batesville and Joseph Ellery Buntin of Southaven; two sisters, Virginia Harris of Batesville and Louise Barnett of Hattiesburg; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

BUNTING, Ola Mae Gentry
     GREENVILLE –  Ola Mae Gentry Bunting, 91, formerly of Crowder, died Sunday, August 8, 2005, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
     Services are today at 2 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Rev. Larry Kilgore will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near Teasdale. Kimbro Funeral Home has charge.
     Bunting, born Sept. 6, 1913, was Baptist.
     Survivors include a nephew and caregiver, Charles W. Gentry of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.

BURGESS, Royal Jr.
     BATESVILLE – Royal Burgess Jr., 64, died Saturday, June 4, 2005, at his residence.
     Services are today at 1 p.m. at Second Concord M.B. Church. Rev. B. Brooks will officiate. Burial will be in Second Concord Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
     Burgess, born March 23, 1941, in Crowder to the late Royal Burgess Sr. and Blandenia Brown, was a laborer for T.C. Lumber and a member of Second Concord M.B. Church where he served as an usher.
     Survivors include his mother, Blandenia Burgess of Batesville; one son, Roy Stanley Burgess of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Evelyn Love of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Bobbie Austin and Josephine Burgess, both of Batesville; one brother, Clarence Burgess of Milwaukee, Wis. and eight grandchildren.

Burt, R.V.
     BATESVILLE- R.V. Burt, 81, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2005, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.
     Services were Wednesday at Locke Station Baptist Church. Rev. Eugene Howell and Rev. Larry Kilgore officiated. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
     Burt, born March 16, 1923, to the late Everett Franklin and the late Mary Skinner Burt, of Drew was retired after 35 years with I.C. & G Railroad , was a member of Walnut Baptist Church, and he served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
     Survivors include his wife Irene Ray Burt of Batesville; three daughters, Patsy Burt Bruner of Madison, Sharlene "Sholly" Burt Ware of Richland and Darlene "Dolly" Burt Calvert of Crowder; two sons, Dale Burt and Garry Adams, both of Richland; one sister Mary Maude Loftis of Marks; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

BUTLER, Martha Palmer Reed
     CLARKSDALE – Martha Palmer Reed Butler, 86, died Friday, September 23, 2005, at Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.
     Services are tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Nowell Funeral Home. Visitation is today from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. Brother Michael Bates will officiate. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery in Tutwiler. Nowell Funeral Home has charge.
     Butler, born June 1, 1919, in Sumner, to the late Calvin Palmer Smith and Arrah Wynne Smith, was a member of Clarksdale Church of Christ and a homemaker.
     She was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Jean Reed.
     Survivors include three sons, Ralph Reed of Glasgow, Ky., Wayne Reed of Batesville and Bobby Reed of Walls; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
