Yancey, Bennie H.
Bennie H. Yancey, 78, of Como, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at his residence.

Services were Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis. Burial was at Friendship Cemetery in Como. Rev. Andy Brasher officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Yancey, born on Oct. 5, 1925 in Texas, to the late Lonnie and the late Birdie Wilbourn Yancey, was a route manager for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Sardis. He was also a Veteran of the Navy and served in World War II.

Survivors include his wife Olivette A. Yancey of Como; four daughters, Debbie Whitsell and Dinah Billinglsey, both of Como, Donna Gunn of Cordova, Tenn. and Darlene Morgan of Blytheville, S.C.; one son Ronnie Yancey of Como; five sisters, Frances Williams of Como, Joretta Louwellen and Lee Leaton, both of Senatobia, Jean Hymer of Horn Lake and Ruth Spears of Greenville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

All memorials may be made to Como Baptist Church.


Yelton, Eleanor Bridges
Eleanor Bridges Yelton, 97, of Tallahatchie, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Yelton, born Aug. 28, 1907, to the late James Bridges and the late Margaret Willis Bridges, was a homemaker and a member of Pharsalia Baptist Church.

Graveside services were Saturday at Bethel Cemetery in Enid. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery. Rev. Keith Keeton officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include one son James Yelton of Batesville; one daughter Falba Yelton Woods of Cypress Inn, Tenn.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 119 Panola Avenue, Batesville.


York, Robert Lee Jr.
Robert Lee York Jr., 36, of Batesville, died Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Services are today at 2 p.m. at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville. Burial will be in Black Jack Cemetery in Batesville. Rev. Dr. Jon Burnham and Rev. David Snellgrove will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

York, born March 21, 1967, to Robert Lee "Bobby" York Sr. and Sara Lee Thompson York, was a weigher at the Federal Compress and a member of The Batesville Fire Department. He was also a member of the Batesville Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his parents, Sara Lee Thompson and Robert Lee "Bobby" York Sr.; one sister Rebecca Anne York Bell of Shelby; and grandparents William Jake and Jimmie Thompson of Batesville.

Young, Gladys E. Tays
Gladys E. Tays Young, 90, of Booneville, died Monday, September 13, 2004, at her residence.
Young was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Services were Wednesday at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Booneville Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home had charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband John Bell Young; her parents Andrew A. and Fannie Crockett Moores Tay; seven sisters, Virgia Heyer, Sybil, Edith, Mildred Tays, Leland Peeler, Lila Young and Doris Robertson and four brothers, Wesley, Rodney, Clyde and Herbert Tays.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Garner of Booneville; three sons, John B. Young Jr. of Batesville, Billy Joe Young of Corinth and David Young of Booneville; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Yount, Ludie Mae Redwine
Sardis, Miss.

Ludie Mae Redwine Yount, 84, of Sardis, died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2004, at Sardis Community Nursing Home of heart failure.

Yount, born Oct. 26, 1920, to the late William Jasper and Jessie Eugene Cantrell Head, was a member of Sherman Baptist Church in Water Valley and a homemaker.

Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jay Anderson officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley Fay Cochran of Memphis, Tenn., Dessie Mae Chrestman and Judy Ann French, both of Batesville; five sons, Bobby Ray Redwine of Leland, Herman Jasper Redwine of Olive Branch, William Thomas Redwine of Batesville, Otis Leon Redwine of Leland and Benny Wayne Redwine of Batesville; 30 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
