Palmer, Lincoln Stanley "Papa Joe"
Lincoln Stanley "Papa Joe" Palmer, 76, of Lambert, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at his residence.
Services were Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at Kimbro Funeral Home. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Rev. Buster Thomas officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.
Palmer, born Jan. 30, 1928 in Anniston, Ala., was a member of Friendship East Baptist Church and a retired heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his wife Audie Vick Palmer and a daughter Nellie Jean Sergent.
Survivors include five daughters, Patricia Ann Childress of Lambert, Pam Nissen and Debra Eads, both of Crowder, Audie Marie Carlisle of Charleston and Carol Raiteri of Southaven; two sons, James Stanley Palmer of Walls and Jessie Winford Palmer of Charleston; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Parham, Charles
Greenwood, Miss.
Charles Parham, 66, of Greenwood, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at Greenwood Leflore Hospital of lung cancer.
Services were Wednesday at North Greenwood Baptist Church. Burial was in North Cleveland Cemetery. Dr. Jim Phillips officiated. Wilson and Knight Funeral Home had charge.
Parham attended Boyle and Cleveland High Schools, graduated from Delta State University with a bachelors degree in elementary education, a masters degree in education, administration and supervision and specialist degree from Ole Miss in supervision. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1962 where he was a Specialist 4. He began his career in the classroom in 1968 in Marietta, Ga. He then moved to Houston where he began his administrative career and then went to Oxford where he was an administrator for Bramlett and Oxford Elementary schools. In 1984 he he moved to Greenwood as principal of Bankston Elementary and in 1985 became principal of TY Fleming Elementary in Minter City. He retired in 1997. His dissatisfaction with retirement and his love for the students brought him back to the school system in Greenwood as a teacher at Greenwood High School High assistant principal from which he retired in 2003. He had also been a retail sales person for Kamlen’s in Cleveland, Riches in Atlanta, Ga. and Goldbergs Shoe Store in Greenwood. He was also a member of North Greenwood Baptist Church where he had been a former usher committee chairman.
He was preceded in death by his father Edwin H. Parham.
Survivors include his wife Minnie Cooley Parham of Greenwood; his mother Lavonia Stewart Parham of Greenwood; one son Patrick Bishop Parham of Batesville and three grandchildren, Jessica Parham, Sam Parham and Katie Parham, all of Batesville.

Clyde Stanley Park, 57, of Sardis, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at his residence.
Park, born on Oct. 30, 1947 in Tupelo, requested his body be donated to the U.T. for research and no funeral services will be held.
Survivors include one brother Bobby Park; and two sisters, Judy McDaniel and Carol Russell.

Douglas Wayne Parker, 60, of Marks, died Monday, August 30, 2004, at Quitman County Hospital.
Parker, born Dec. 13, 1943, was a Baptist and a shop manager for Quitman County Road Department.

James R. Parker, 79, of Danville, formerly of Courtland, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at the VA Illiana Health Care System.

Parker, born Aug. 27, 1925 in Batesville, to the late C.C. Parker and the late Clara L. Ford, was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, enjoyed music, arts and crafts and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pearlie Mae Williams and four sisters.

Parker, born Jan. 9, 1926, was a homemaker, a member of the Church of Christ in Water Valley and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church in Courtland.

James Wallace Parnell, 94, of Sardis, died Friday, September 3, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Southaven.
Parnell, born Nov. 11, 1909, to the late Marvin Ford Parnell and the late Pattie Floyd Parnell, was a member of Peach Creek Baptist Church and Peach Creek Men’s Bible Class. He was also a retired farmer and an ordained minister.
Services were Tuesday at Peach Creek Baptist Church. Burial was at Peach Creek Cemetery. Rev. Caples and Rev. Allen Parnell officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances Bailey Parnell.
Survivors include four daughters, Martha Parnell Baker of Amory, Georgia Parnell Pearce of Magnolia, Ark., Sue Parnell Proctor of Southaven and Pattie Parnell Bailey of Charleston Heights, S.C.; one son, Rev. Parrish, born Nov. 26, 1916, to the late Lee Parrish and the late Mary Ellen Shuttles Parrish, was a retired truck driver, member of the American Legion of Crenshaw and a Baptist.

Pegues, born June 9, 1926, to the late Eley Pegues and the late Lervida Knox, was a retired machine operator and a member of Mt. Gillion M.B. Church in Sardis.
Survivors include three sons, Terry Pegues of Batesville, Larry Pegues of Lynwood, Ga. and Daryl Pegues of Bowling Green, Ky.; one brother John Joiner of Grand Bay, Ala.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Elmer Ealy Pegues, 61, died Thursday, September 2, 2004.
Pegues, born April 3, 1943, to the late Joe Walter Pegues and Lela Mae Pegues, attended school in Panola County, confessed to Christ as his personal savior at an early age at the Mt. Gillion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T.L. Tipton, later he joined the Bluff Springs M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor L.C. Smith. He remained a faithful member.
He was preceded in death by his father Joe Walter Pegues, three sisters, Debra M. Callicut, Angelose M. Ales and Virginia D. Joiner and one brother Walter Pegues Jr.

Permenter, born July 6, 1925, to the late John Allen and late Effie Mae Baker Neal Sr., was a retired beautician and owner of Wallace Bait Shop on Sardis Lake. She brought joy and peace to all who crossed her path.

Pierce, born Sept. 3, 1969, to Robert E. Pierce and the late Helen K. Holloway Pierce, was well known throughout the community for his skills at playing pool and won many tournaments. He was in ROTC in high school and he graduated from the Memphis Professional Bartending School.

Porter was a retired cook of Dr. M.M. Powell Jr. She was on the stewardess board, president of the usher board, missionary society and head cook at Edwards Chapel.

Potts was a maintenance worker at several local manufacturers.

He was preceded in death by his father Arvie Potts.

Rosie L. Price, 58, of Pope, formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Friday, Jan. 16, 2004, at John Stroger Hospital.
Funeral services were Jan. 24 in Chicago. Leak & Sons Funeral Chapel had charge of arrangements.
Price was born March 20, 194 in Estell to Topey Murphy.
Price attended grammar school in Mississippi. She later moved to Chicago, Ill. where she attended the John Marshall High School and furthered her education at Marion Business College. She attended Dawson Technical Academy License Practical Nurse Training, Kennedy King Jr. College and Chicago State University where she received her associate degree as a registered nurse. She worked at the Cook County Hospital in the trama unit and at Bethany Hospital as the charge nurse where she retired and moved to Pope. She then worked at Tri-Lakes Hospital in Batesville. She was a member of Abundant Life Assembly Church of Jesus Christ where she set up an academic scholarship fund for the youth of the church.
Survivors include her mother Topey Murphy; four children, Ladonna, Donald, Dianne and Larry Jr.; two cousins that she raised as her own daughters, Patricia Nash and Jackie Jenkins; nine grandchildren; and one sister Brenda Knight.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Faye Pryor of Water Valley; one daughter Melinda Gail Campbell of Water Valley; two sons, Shawn Everette Pryor of Water Valley and Timothy Starr Pryor of Texas; three sisters, Anna Rose Beeler of Water Valley, Brenda Irene Conner of Oxford and Sylvia Gertrude Hollingsworth of Como; two brothers, John Thomas Pryor of Water Valley and Brian Keith Pryor of Knoxville, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.

Pund, William Henry "Bill"
Batesville, Miss.
William Henry "Bill" Pund, 93, of Batesville, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2004, at his residence.
Pund, born Aug. 6, 1911, to the late Charles Antone and Susie Hoffman Pund, was a farmer and cattleman. He was a member of The Batesville Presbyterian Church, the Quitman County Farmer’s Association and the Panola County Cattleman’s Association.
Services were Tuesday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Batesville -Magnolia Cemetery. Father Tom Hastings officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Joetta Smith and Jane Shook.
Survivors include his wife Mary Ferguson Pund of Batesville; one son William "Billy" Pund of Batesville; two sisters, Goldie Ekhoff of Long Beach, Calif. and Daisye Michaels of Gig Harbor, Wash.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Pugh, Jimmy Lee
Arlington, Tenn.
Jimmy Lee Pugh, 64, of Arlington, Tenn., died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004, at Methodist Healthcare, North in Memphis, Tenn.
Memorial services will be at North Panola High School Gym in Sardis, Thursday Dec. 16, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Services will be at Gilfield Baptist Church, 8335 Pleasant Ridge Rd., in Arlington, Tenn. at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18. Burial will be in Noah Chapel Cemetery, 6791 Pleasant Ridge Rd. Jefferson Mortuary has charge.
Pugh, born Oct. 9, 1940, was a retired teacher and coach with the North Panola School District in Sardis. He was also a tailor and caterer. He was a member of Noah Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Millington, Tenn. where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent and Steward and he was a member of the Masonic Lodge Magnolia Chapter 58 in Mississippi.
Survivors include his wife Eula Mae Pugh of Arlington, Tenn.; four daughters, Cheryl Campbell of Beaumont, Texas, Charlotte Noel of Bartlett, Tenn., Deborah Winston and Kathy Jones, both of Arlington, Tenn.; one sister Teola Winston of Arlington, Tenn. and one brother Eugene Pugh of Memphis, Tenn.
