Danny Claxton Gaines, 50, of Courtland, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford of heart failure.
Services were Friday, Jan. 9, at Eureka United Methodist Church in Courtland. Burial was at Eureka Private Cemetery. Rev. Terry Tribble and Mr. Dan Lundhall officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Gaines, born July 9, 1953, to the late Rueall Claxton and the late Virginia Mothershed Gaines, was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Martha Manning Gaines of Courtland; two daughters, Brandi Ledbetter Smith of Pontotoc and Amanda Watts of Pope; two sons, Daniel Gaines of Courtland and Michael Gaines of Batesville; one brother Clay Gaines of Courtland; and five grandchildren.

Felmus Galmore, 46, of Sardis, died Monday, June 7, 2004 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.
Services were Saturday at Hymonia M.B. Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Clarence Raunins officiated. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.
Galmore, born Nov. 5, 1957, to Felmus and Leatha Galmore, was a factory worker.

Melba Louise Appleton Gant, 70, of Duncan, died Mon. Dec. 13, 2004, at Oak Grove Nursing Home.

Gant, born Aug. 6, 1934, to the late Thomas Appleton and the late Louise Pugh Hudson, was a nurse aid and a member of Oxford Shiloh Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son Greg Gant of Batesville; two daughters, Kathy Cain of Oxford and Betty Nesbit of Batesville; one brother Thomas Appleton of Belcher, Ky.; two sisters, Bonnie Waycaster of Batesville and Barbara Bell of Whichita Falls, Texas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Jessie Littlejohn Gardner, 88, of Batesville, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at her residence.
Gardner, born April 3, 1916, to the late Bennon and Josie Gibson Littlejohn, was a housewife, a member of Concord M.B. Church and Panola Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star.
Services were Sunday at Concord M.B. Church. Burial was in Concord Cemetery. Rev. Solomon Miller officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. Joe C. Gardner and Jerry Gardner, both of Batesville and Willie Joe Gardner of Hazel Crest, Ill.; one sister Lucille Littlejohn Gardner of Como; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Gardner, William E. "Will"
William E. "Will" Gardner, 80, of Oakland, died Sunday, August 15, 2004, at Baptist Desoto.
Graveside services and burial are today at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park. Family Funeral Care has charge.
Gardner was in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a retired engineer with Continental Phone Company.
Survivors include his wife Gayle Gardner; his step daughter Kim Leroy of Shabbona, Ill.; one daughter Barbara Brummel of Winnebago, Ill.; one son William E. Gardner Jr. of Cordova, Tenn.; his stepson David Jelinek of North Carolina; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Peggy Wright Gaskins, 71, of Southaven, died Thursday, March 11, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Hospital East.

Gaskins was a member of Gracewood Baptist Church in Southaven.
Survivors include her husband Russell Gaskins of Southaven; one daughter Barbara Burkhalter of Enid; and three grandchildren.

Gentry, born Aug. 1, 1940 in Lambert, was a retired truck driver and a member of Crowder Baptist Church.

Gillis, W.C.
W.C. Gillis, 90, of Jackson, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at the Central Mississippi Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 8 from the High Street Chapel of Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in the Shelton Cemetery in Copiah County.
Gillis was a retired engineer with the Mississippi Highway Department with 42 years of service. He was a charter member and past president of the 60 Plus Group at Alta Woods United Methodist Church and he was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years Elsie Shelton Gillis; one son Shelton Gillis of Germantown, Tenn.; two sisters, Nona G. Fortenberry of Clinton and Maude G. Furr of Ackerman and two grandchildren.

Goforth, Luther McKay "Kay"
Luther McKay "Kay" Goforth, 72, of Batesville, died Thursday, September 16, 2004, at his residence.
Goforth, born June 24, 1932, to the late Oliver McKay Goforth and the late Susie Fisher Goforth, was a retired Sergeant Major, a member of Courtland Methodist Church, in the Mississippi Army National Guard for 34 years, Panola Lodge #66, a member of Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 32nd Degree and a member of the Batesville Lions Club.
Services were Saturday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Black Jack Cemetery. Bro. Larry Sappington officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
He is preceded in death by one brother Albert Goforth.
Survivors include his wife Patty Thompson Goforth of Batesville; one daughter Angela Goforth Mackey; one brother Harold Goforth of Grand Prairie, Texas and two grandchildren, Johnathan Mackey and Joshua Mackey.

Gray, born, Jan. 18, 1917, to the late Willie and late Annie Lolly Gray, was a retired farmer and a member of Victory Baptist Church.

Gray, born Dec. 29, 1911 in Tallahatchie County, to the late Loften and the late Lou Dare Little, was a homemaker and a member of Womens Volunteer Club. She was also a member of First Baptist Church in Batesville.
Survivors include two daughters, Micki Gray Coplan of Niceville, Fla. and Shirley Gray McDonald of Hernando; two sons, Russell T. Gray Jr. and Dr. Robert L. Gray, both of Batesville; three sisters, Flake Little Buntin and Virginia Little Harris, both of Batesville and Martha Louise Little Burnett of Hattiesburg; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russell T. Gray Sr.

Gray, born July 2, 1952, to the late W.D. and Grace Gray, was a construction employee for Waco Construction Company of Grenada.

Rosie A. Green, 98, of Pope, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at Beverly Healthcare Nursing Home.
Green, born Dec. 24, 1905, to the late George Bullets and the late Stella Bunton, was a housewife, a member of Springhill M.B. Church, Mother Board and Victory Star Chapter 121 Order of Eastern Star.
Services are today at 1 p.m. at Springhill M.B. Church in Pope. Burial is in Parrish Grove Cemetery in Oakland. Rev. Stephen P. Walker will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Survivors include five sons, Gandy Suggs Jr., Bennie Farris Jr. and Dr. Joe L. Green, all of Pope, John Green of Detroit, Mich. and Benjamin Green of Millington, Tenn.; five daughters, Luxie Frison of Jackson, Betty J. Dugger of Memphis, Tenn., and Maggie F. Maye, Eva M. Smith and Lillie B. West, all of Detroit, Mich.; her daughter-in-law who cared for her, Ocearine Green; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Greenlee, Margaret Ming "Bill"
Margaret Gertrude Ming Greenlee of Batesville died of congestive heart failure at Tri-Lakes Medical Center on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 3, 2004. She was 90 years of age.
Known as "Bill" to all, she was the daughter of William Henry and Effie Taylor Ming of Batesville. Born on Sept. 8, 1913, she received her nickname of "Bill" from her father, but was always addressed as Margaret by her mother.
Bill was the wife of Thomas Sugg Greenlee Sr., who she affectionately called "Greenlee." They celebrated 61 years of marriage before his death in June of 1995. Bill graduated from Batesville High School and attended Grenada College. After their marriage, she and Greenlee lived in Shelby, Hermanville, Canton and Marks before returning to Batesville in 1950.
Mrs. Greenlee was a housewife and a homemaker who retired as a Food Service Manager for Batesville Junior High.
She and Greenlee had three children, Thomas S. "Tommy" Greenlee Jr. and Sally Herron Greenlee Reid, both of Batesville and Jim Ming Greenlee of Oxford. She dearly loved her eight grandchildren, their spouses, 13 great-grandchildren, a son-in-law W. Joe Reid and two daughters-in-laws, Betty Deaton Greenlee and Ann Veazey Greenlee.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Herron Ming Nickle and Charlie Taylor Ming Butler.
Visitation was held at Dickins Funeral Home Monday. Services were conducted at the Batesville First United Methodist Church on Tuesday, with interment following next to "Greenlee" in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. The services celebrating the life of Margaret Ming "Bill" Greenlee was led by Dr. Martin Case and Rev. Don Bishop. Pall Bearers were Eddie Greenlee, Richard Reid, Brad Greenlee, Joseph Reid, George Pratt and Todd Boswell. The Truthseekers Class and their teacher Soren Bowie served as honorary Pall Bearers.

Griffin, born Nov. 5, 1932, to the late John Joseph Crosthwait and the late Emma Wilkerson Crosthwait, was a bookkeeper, a member of the Pharsalia Baptist Church and attended Mississippi State University.
Survivors include one son Albert "Pete" Griffin Jr. of Enid; two daughters, Patricia G. Jones of Batesville and Linda G. Urban of Enid; two sisters, Gloria Newman and Maxine Moore, both of Enid; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Griffin, born Aug. 8, 1923, to Ira Marshall and Zula Morgan Griffin, was a retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Pharsalia Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Earlene Grover of Batesville and Maxcine Grover Bank of Chicago, Ill. two sons, Cleveland Grover and L.P. Grover, both of Batesville, and James L. Gover of Chicago; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Katherine Parkinson Guyton, 97, formerly of Sardis, died Saturday, June 19, 2004, at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia.
Graveside services were Monday at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Rev. Jerry Sanford officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
Guyton, born July 7, 1906, to John F. and Lee Brown Parkinson, was a RN . She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Sardis, Eastern Star and Sardis Woman’s Club.
Survivors include a niece Johnnie Graham and her husband Tom Graham who cared for her.
She was preceded in death by her husband W.M. Guyton.
