BATESVILLE – The South Panola baseball team dealt the blow of the season to Horn Lake with a 7-5 win in seven innings in the first district game of the season.
Putting the Tigers over the top was a two-run homer in the fourth inning by senior Cole Flint, his first ever. After the homerun, it was noted he had hit some balls out to the scoreboard in practice earlier in the week.
Tyler Brewer pitched five innings and got the win. Walt Love relieved Brewer in the top of the sixth inning and got the save.
Horn Lake scored right off with two runs in the first inning. The Tigers got in one run in the first inning. The second inning was nil for both teams.
The Tigers had some hot bats in the third inning.
Lead off hitter Walter Pang got on base with a single. Bradley Striplin doubled and drove home Pang for the tying run 2-2. A double by Brewer sent Striplin home for the lead 3-2. A double by Luke Kiihnl scored Brewer as the Tigers led 4-2 going into the top of the fourth inning.

ND Golf Team Wins

| The North Delta golf team is doing well with its experienced players, according to coach Mickey Aldridge. The team has participated in two tournaments this season and won both.
The Green Wave played in the Grenada tournament and shot an overall score of 308.
In Columbus at Am Lake, the team shot a 303. In these tournaments, the four lowest scores are used to determine the team’s scores.
The team this year is led by senior Jeremy Aldridge and junior Drew Baker.
Player averages for the season are Baker, 74; Aldridge and Will Crowley, 75 each; Clint Egbert, 78; Scott Powers, 80 and Tripp Sanders, 91.
The Green Wave will sponsor a tournament Monday, April 14, at the Panola Country Club.
