BATESVILLE – The South Panola Lady Tigers fast pitch softball team finished off the Tupelo tournament 2-2.
The Lady Tigers played five games in two days to up their season record to 5-5.
The Lady Tigers traveled to Cleveland Thursday, March 20, for a showdown. Cleveland won 11-9.
Cleveland got on the scoreboard in the first inning. The Lady Tigers did not score until the third inning. The Lady Tigers had a good fourth inning and scored five runs.
Hitting for the Lady Tigers were Camille Willis, 2 singles, 1 RBI; Kelley Capwell, 1 single, 1 RBI; Amanda Bolen, 3 RBIs; Nicole Sturgis, 1 single; and Summer Gee, 1 single.
The teams tried to play a B-team game. Cleveland scored one run in the first and only inning. After that the official called the game and left the park, according to Lady Tiger head coach Kim Wilson.
“The official was in his car and gone before both teams realized what had happened,” Wilson said.
Therefore, Cleveland won the B-team game 1-0.

GRENADA – The North Delta baseball team (2-1 overall, 1-1 district) saw its perfect season go down to one the team in the league, Kirk Academy 14-7 Friday, March 21.
“We made some mental mistakes and they cost us in the long run,” said Green Wave head coach Rick Johnston.
This was the Green Wave’s second district game of the season. Cody Hallmark pitched five innings and was relieved by Hal West.
“I was pleased with the efforts,” Johnston said. “We had five errors, but that was part of the learning process. I am seeing a lot of improvement.”
Dustin Maples hit 2 of 3. Pittman Harrison hit 1 of 2 with two doubles. West hit 2 of 3 with three RBIs.

The North Delta tennis team got an early start on the season by hosting the Desoto Thunderbirds from Helena, Ark. Friday, March 21. The Green Wave defeated DeSoto 5-2.
North Delta’s only senior returning this year is Brittany Flippo.
She is playing No.1 doubles with Audrey Morgan. Also returning this year is junior Andrew Wood playing No. 2 singles. Currie Martin, an eighth grader, returns playing No. 1 singles this year.
Junior Mallory Nix returns playing No. 1 singles and junior Jessica Downs returns playing No. 2 singles. Jordan Mills, a junior, returns playing No. 2 doubles with Madison Kilgore.

| Grenada Comes From Behind to Defeat Tigers |

BATESVILLE – Old rivals South Panola (7-7) and Grenada baseball teams met in Batesville to renew the old acquaintance Thursday, March 20.
The game was played a little differently than in the past two years, but Grenada did pull out two runs in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game and take the lead for a 6-5 win.
South Panola scored all five of its runs in the first inning to lead 5-0 which had Grenada sweating.
Grenada revamped its defense to keep the Tigers scoreless the rest of the game and the offense ate away at the Tiger lead inning by inning.
Grenada scored one run in the third and three runs in the fourth on a two-run homer to cut the lead 5-4.
Tyler Brewer took the loss for his second of the season.
Kyle Crofford pitched the B-team game for the Tigers and picked up the win when the Tigers won 5-3.
The Tigers finished up the week on a busy note. Friday, March 21, the Tigers hosted Desoto Central and Hernando.
The Tigers pulled out a 5-3 win over Desoto.
