BATESVILLE – It had all the thrills of basketball: slam dunks, nothing but net 3-pointers and alley-oops.
Unfortunately, for the South Panola Tigers (3-13 overall, 0-2 district), the Holly Springs Hawks stole the show, Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The Hawks presented a much improved team over the last two years and defeated South Panola 80-63.
The final score was the good news. At one time, Holly Springs led by 36 points in the third quarter.
The Tigers had the hot hand and led 8-2 in the first quarter. But when the Hawks heated up, they took the lead 11-10 with 3:07 left in the first quarter and never looked back.
The teams maintained an up-tempo pace from the first second to the ending buzzer, but turnovers and missed shots took its toll on the Tigers.
The Tigers seem to have a chance at the end of the first quarter as they were only down 19-12.
