Essie Mae Ragland, 90, of Water Valley, died Saturday, August 9, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Visitation is Wednesday at 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Services are Thursday at 11 a.m. at Miles A.M.E. Church in Water Valley. Burial is at Oak Grove Cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Adam Tyson will officiate. Water Valley Funeral Home has charge.
Ragland, born Nov. 25, 1912, was a housewife and a member of Miles A.M.E. Church.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Betty Allen Hilliard of Oxford.
Survivors include her husband Joe Ragland of Water Valley; one son Charles (Fossie) Ragland of Water Valley; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Rawson, Charles Lamar
Charles Lamar Rawson, 39, of Sardis, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, in Panola County as a result of an auto accident.
Services are today at 2 p.m. at Waller Funeral Home Chapel in Oxford. Burial is at Eastover Memorial Cemetery in Oxford. Minister Bobby Baker will officiate. Waller Funeral Home has charge.
Rawson was a member of Looxahoma Church of Christ and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and sports.
Survivors include his parents Ann Culver and step-father Larry Culver, both of Oxford and J.T. Rawson of Meridian; one son Kyle Lamar Rawson of Sugarland, Texas and two brothers, Todd Rawson of Olive Branch and Douglas "Shane" Rawson of Austin, Texas.

Christopher Earl Ray and Timothy Earl Ray Jr., of Pope, were stillborn at Tri-Lakes Medical Hospital Thursday, March 27, 2003.
Services were Friday, March 28, 2003, at Crowder Cemetery.
Survivors include parents, Timothy Earl Ray and Shelia Renee of Pope; two sisters, Courtney Petit and Katalyn Ray; grandparents, Duane and Jean Pettit of Batesville and Elbert and Geardean Sorrell of Belen and great-grandparents, Dossie and Bobbie Nell Pettit of Lambert.

Jo Ann Reece, 69, of Enid, died Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services were Monday at Dickins Chapel. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park. Troy Darby officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Reece, born Sept. 6, 1933, to the late Will Ray Bright and the late Agatha Tidwell Bright, was a clerk and a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Rebecca "Becky" Campbell.
Survivors include one sister Gay Nell Benson of Pope.

Herbert Franklin Reese, 74, of Water Valley, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2003, at his residence of natural causes.

Rhear, born Feb. 9, 1945, to Walter Rhear and the late Mary Goodwin Rhear, was a barge foreman.

Ola Mae Richardson, 85, of Oakland, died Friday, August 29, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Richardson, born Jan. 29, 1918, to the late Jim Moore and the late Julia Carpenter, was a housewife and a member of Springhill ASA M.B. Church.

Richardson, all of Jackson and Carl B. Vashti Richmond, 84, of Batesville died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.
Funeral services are today at 11 a.m. at New Hope M.B. Church. Burial is at New Hope Cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home has charge.
Richmond was a retired school teacher.
She is preceded in death by her husband Aubrey Richmond.
Survivors include one daughter Eleanor Tinnor of Memphis; one son Cleo Timmon Jr. of Detroit, Mich.; two caregivers, Terry Towns and Jacqueline Towns, both of Batesville and one grandchild.
Riggle, Lynn Keith
Lynn Keith Riggle, 75, of Sardis, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at his residence.
Services were Monday at First Baptist Church. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Sanford officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Riggle, born May 18, 1928, to the late William J. and the late Glean Clymer Riggle, was a volunteer firefighter with the Sardis Fire Department for 27 years, holding every position on the department which included being fire chief for 12 years and serving in the army.
Survivors include his wife Joyce Barmer Riggle of Sardis; one daughter Wanda Harris Ward of Senatobia; two sons, Ronnie Harris of Horn Lake and Robert Harris of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Willie Juanita Rikard, 74, of Pope, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, at her residence in Bartlett, Tenn. of cancer.
Services were Friday at Pope Baptist Church with interment at Clear Creek Baptist Church in Oxford. Rev. Jimmy Bryant and Rev. Lawrence Williamson, Jr. officiated services. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Rikard, born Aug. 1, 1928, to the late Elcho McLarty and the late Beula Stevens McLarty, was a homemaker and a member of the Pope Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Ray Rikard of Pope and Jerry Lee Rikard of Grenada; five daughters, Willia R. Roebuck, born on July 29, 1938, in Vardaman, to the late Robert Earl Morrow and the late Ida Adel Griffin Morrow, was a member of Wray’s Chapel Church of God and a store manager.

Roper was a retired corrections officer with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Ruby, born Nov. 18, 1951, to Boots Ruby and Ruby Lee Goodwin Ruby, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a welder for Thompson Machinery of Memphis.

Mary Lou Ruby, 88, of Como, died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland.

Ruby, born Oct. 29, 1914, to the late Dave Childress and the late Ora Smith Childress, was the owner/operator of Mary Lou’s Beauty Shoppe.
She is preceded in death by her husband Rex M. Ruby.
Survivors include one son Burney Glenn Still of Olive Branch and one granddaughter.

Rudd, born May 11, 1940, in Panola County, to the late Foster Rudd Sr. and Ethel Lee Jones Rudd, was a retired truck driver for Bobby Hudson Trucking Company, a member of St. Peter M.B. Church, Usher, Youth Choir President- Deacon and Yard Marshal on the Usher Board.
