Parker, Ester Madison
Ester Madison Parker, 65, of Memphis, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at Grandview Health Care Center in Grenada.

Services were Monday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church. Burial was at Second Concord Cemetery. Rev. Charlie McBride officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Parker, born July 13, 1938, to the late Eddie Madison and the late Willie B. Madison, was a housewife and a member of Corinthian M.B. Church in Memphis.

Survivors include her husband Woodson Parker of Memphis; one son Willie J. Madison of Batesville; one adopted son Terrell Jabar Freeman of Memphis; two foster sons, Chester Rook of Henning, Tenn. and Derell Jefferson of Memphis; one brother Lloyd Wiley of Bartlett; two sisters, Dorothy Palmer and Mary Jones, both of Chicago; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


Partain, Janie Sue McCarty
Janie Sue McCarty Partain, 80, of Nesbit, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Delta Medical Center in Memphis.

Funeral services were Wednesday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Partain, born April 2, 1923, to the late Roy McCarty and the late Myrtle Black McCarty, was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church and retired from Carter’s in Tunica.

Survivors include one brother Dean McCarty of Southaven; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.


Paslay, Genevieve Hattox
Genevieve Hattox Paslay, 84, of Sardis, died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Sardis Community Nursing Home of heart failure.

Services were Friday at Moore Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery. Dr. Doyce Gunter officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Paslay, born July 10, 1918, to the late D.J. Hattox and the late Kay Coward Hattox, was a retired bookeeper and co-owner of Williams, Paslay Drug Store and a member of Sardis United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Warren Paslay.

Survivors include one son, John H. Paslay of Lancaster, Texas; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


Patterson, Royal N.T.
Royal N.T. Patterson, 84, of Pope, died Saturday, July 26, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi in Oxford of heart failure.

Services are Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Ron Long will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Survivors include his wife Martha Bailey Patterson of Batesville; one sister Dolly Patterson Wilson of Memphis; one brother Raymond Patterson of Memphis and two grandchildren.


Paulk, Barbara Jean Branum
Barbara Jean Branum Paulk, 78, of Batesville, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at Methodist Central in Memphis.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Batesville Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Forrest Memorial Park. Dr. Henry Williamson will officiate. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Paulk, born August 6, 1924, to the late Miles Cleveland Branum and the late Lola McMurray Cooper Branum, was a member of Batesville Presbyterian Church, a member of Women of the Church and a bookkeeper for Paulk Bros. of Batesville.

Survivors include one son Russell D. Paulk, Jr. of Batesville; one daughter Pat Gordon of Union; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.

Pearson, Winnie Janet
Winnie Janet Pearson, 70, of Elliott, died Monday, February 24, at Kilmichael Hospital in Kilmichael.

Services will be Friday, February 28, at Olivar Chapel in Winona. Rev. W.G. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Scotland Cemetary in Winona. Olivar Funeral Home of Winona has charge.

Pearson was a member of the Lyon Baptist Church in Lyon, and a registered nurse.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Green of Winona; three sons, Charles H. Pearson, Jr. of Horn Lake, Shane Pearson of Brandon, and Marion Lee Pearson of Batesville; two sisters, Marie Thornburg of Tucson, Ariz. and Mae Reid of Tylertown; two brothers, Walter Madison Smith of Cleveland, Ohio, Donald Smith of Columbus, Roy Smith of McAlester, Okla. and Delton C. Smith of Newport, Tenn; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.


Peel, Barbara Ann Armes
Barbara Ann Armes Peel, 67, formerly of Sardis, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Baptist East in Memphis.

Services were Saturday at Peach Creek Baptist Church in Sardis. Burial was at Peach Creek Cemetery. Rev. Jim Roland officiated. Moore Funeral Home of Sardis had charge.

Peel, born Jan. 12, 1936, to the late Roger W. Armes and the late Abbie Marshall Armes, was a member of Peach Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter Pam Flowers of Memphis; three sons, Kenny Peel, Doug Peel and Chris Peel, all of Memphis; one sister Dixie Abbey of Batesville; one brother Donald Armes of Sardis; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband John C. Peel


Peternell, Andrew "Andy" E.
Andrew "Andy" E. Peternell, 91, of Cordova, Tenn., died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at Cordova Rehabilitation Center of heart failure.

Services were Thursday, at Memorial Park Cemetery. Monsignor Peter Buchignani officiated services. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Peternell, born Jan. 23, 1911, to the late Andrew J. and Pauline Goes Peternell, was a retired proofreader for The Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Cordova, Tenn.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Kay Peternell Dohogne of Memphis, Tenn; two sons, James Andrew Peternell of Dundedin, Fla., and Hal Timothy Peternell of Olive Branch; one half-sister, Dorothy Ann Peternell of Topeka, Kan.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson.
 


Pettys, Allyn G.
Allyn G. Pettys, 68, of Memphis, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Baptist East.

Services were Wednesday at FFC Summer. Burial was at Magnolia Cemetery in Batesville. Family Funeral Care Summer Ave. Chapel had charge.

Pettys was a retired glass worker for Safelite Glass Company.

Survivors include his wife Georgia Anne Pettys; one son Joey Pettys of Memphis; two sisters, Charlene Nieman of Freemont, Ohio and Donna Moyer of Clyde, Ohio and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Wings Cancer.


Phillips, Eugenia Catledge
Eugenia Catledge Phillips, 83, of Ridgeland, died Monday, May 5, 2003, at Hospice Ministries Central Mississippi in Ridgeland.

Services were Thursday at The First Baptist Church in Batesville. Burial was at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Alan Kilgore officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Phillips, born Jan. 7, 1920, to the late Eugene and Linnie Bagwell Catledge was a retired bookkeeper, a member of First Baptist Church, was a worthy matron of the Eastern Star and was one of the organizers of the Keenagers.

She is preceded in death by her husband William Preston Phillips.

Survivors include two sons, Gene Phillips and wife JoAnn of Canton and Bill Phillips and wife Susan of Augusta, Ga.; one daughter Linda Harrison and husband Richard of Brandon; two sisters, Sara Catledge Noah of Columbus and Mamie Llyod Greer of Buda, Texas; seven grandchildren, Steve Phillips of Ridgeland, Dr. Joe Phillips and wife Vickie of Hattiesburg, Tracy Noble and husband Lanis of Jackson, Matt Harrison and wife Carol, Kathy Wall and husband Doug, all of Madison, Becky Phillips of Pendlenton, S.C. and Chris Phillips of Athens, Ga.; 12 great-grandchildren, Callie Nutt, Phillip Nutt, Lilly Noble, all of Jackson, Riley, Laine, Maggie, Gray Phillips, all of Hattiesburg, Madaline and Mitch Phillips of Ridgeland, Garner and Lucy Wall, Kendall Harrison, all of Madison, Derek Lowe and Deidre Lowe, both of Madison.

Pierce, Lorine
Lorine Pierce, 76, of Belen, died Sunday, February 23, 2003, at Quitman County Hospital in Marks.

Services were Tuesday at Gurley Family Center in Clarksdale with interment at Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Rev. Harold Smith and Rev. Tommy Darby officiated. Kimbro Funeral home had charge.

Pierce, born June 23, 1928, to the late Sam Brewer and the late Mary Downs Brewer, was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Dempsey Pierce of Belen; three daughters, Betty Ann Gurley of Marks, Jimme Sneed of Darling and Tina Phillips of Gore Springs; one sister, Nettie Holcombe of Grenada; one brother, Emmitt Whitten of Batesville; eight grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
 


Pittman, Raiford Lee
Raiford Lee Pittman, 65, of Como, died Thursday, March 20, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

He was cremated and memorial services will be announced later. Moore Funeral Home in Sardis had charge.

Pittman, born July 24, 1937, to the late Luther Ralph Pittman and the late Ora Lee Raiford Pittman Pointer, was a member of the Episcopal Church and was retired from the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors include two sons, William Trullender Pittman of Seattle, Wash. and William Brett Pittman of Weston, Fla. and three grandchildren.
 


Potts, Dimple
Dimple Potts, 90, of Batesville, died Tuesday, February 25, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Miss.

Services will be Sunday, March 2, at 2 p.m. Apostle Houston Potts, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. has charge.

Potts, born December 18, 1912, to the late Tom Benson and Rosie Hall, was a domestic worker and a member of the New Life Deliverance Temple, Inc.

Survivors include one son, Apostle Houston Potts, Jr. of Batesville.
 


Potts, Olis
Olis Potts, 70, of Sardis, died Monday, July 14, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.

Services were Thursday at Dickins Chapel. Burial was at Flag Lake Cemetery. Rev. Larry Tapp officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Potts, born Feb. 23, 1933, to the late Clarance Potts and the late Maudie May Johnson Potts, was a farmer and a veteran of The Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife Annie Dean Potts of Sardis; one daughter Deana Diane Gonzalez of Sardis; three sisters, Ora Rhodes of Como, Katie Fish of Arizona and Daisy Tapp of Ocean Springs; four granchildren and one great-grandchild.


Pratcher, Bernice Turner
Bernice Turner Pratcher, 48, of Senatobia died Thursday, February 27, 2003, at Methodist University Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at Cistern Hill M.B. Church in Como. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Pratcher, was a choir member, Sunday school treasurer, missionary society member, a C.H.A.R.P. member, manager of Otha Turner and Rising Star Band and a nurse assistant.

Survivors include one daughter, Whitney S. Jefferries of Senatobia; two sons, Otha Evans of Como and Rodney Evans of Senatobia; five sisters, Betty Freeman of Senatobia, Ada Mae Turner of Senatobia, Dorothy Ann Turner of Senatobia, Nellie Morman of Como and Minnie R. Brown of Como; two brothers, Mack Freeman of Senatobia and Bruce Porter of Como; and three grandchildren.


Pride, Monica
Monica Pride, 12, of Batesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services were Sunday at Batesville Intermediate School Auditorium. Burial was at Pilgrim Rest Cemetery in Crenshaw. Rev. W.L. Nash officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

Pride, born Dec. 4, 1991, to Willie James Chapman and Josephine Pride, both of Batesville was a student and band member at Batesville Junior High and a member of Pilgrim Rest M.B. Church in Crenshaw.

Survivors include her mother Josephine Pride and father Willie James Chapman, both of Batesville; five sisters, Angela Chapman, Jennifer Chapman, Crystal Chapman, Brittany Chapman and Shelia Pride Houston, all of Batesville; two brothers, Willie Pride and Derrick Pride, both of Batesville; and grandparents, C.W. and Jennie Ruth Pride of Crenshaw and Lorraine Chapman of Pope.


Pritchard, Donna Rachelle Eastridge
Donna Rachelle Eastridge Pritchard, 35, of Pope, died Monday, September 15, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Services were Wednesday at Bethel Methodist Church in Enid. Burial was at Bethel Cemetery. Newsom Funeral Home in Charleston had charge.

Pritchard, born Jan. 6, 1968, to Donald and Rachel Eastridge, was a financial manager at Quality Foods in Batesville.

Survivors include her parents Donald and Rachel Eastridge of Meridian; two sons, Donovan Goad and Sy Pritchard, both of Pope; two sisters, Rita Eastridge Carruth and Shannon Eastridge, both of Meridian; one brother Bennett Eastridge of Meridian; one nephew J.J. Zettler of Meridian and two nieces, Lauren Zettler and Rachel Blake Eastridge, both of Meridian.


Pruett, Audrey Jones
Audrey Jones Pruett, 50, of Batesville, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 at Quitman County Hospital of cancer.

Services were Wednesday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was at Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Pruett, born March 12, 1953, to the late Jessie Homer Jones and the late Lorene Pierce Jones, was a homemaker.

Survivors include two daughters, Heather Emery of Crowder and Stacy Pruett of Batesville; two sons, Shane Pruett of Batesville and Jason Pruett of Atoka, Tenn.; one brother Homer Donald Jones of Converse, Tenn.; and 10 grandchildren.


Pund, Jean K.
Jean K. Pund, 70, of Batesville, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at her residence of heart failure.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Batesville. Burial is at 3 p.m. at Greenville Cemetery in Greenville. Father Sam Godfrey and Father Tom Hastings will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Pund, born March 13, 1933, to the late Waymond Daniel and the late Ernestine Pitman Keel, was a retired real estate sales lady and a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband William A. "Billy" Pund of Batesville; one daughter Tara Jennings Alt of New Orleans, La.; one son Walter E. Dye of Batesville; two sisters, Carolyn Keel Campbell and Dorothy Keel Etheridge, both of Sarasota, Fla.; three granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
