Karr, Jimmy C.
Jimmy "Jim" C. Karr, 55, of Thaxton, died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at his residence of heart failure.
Services were Thursday at Dickins Chapel. Burial was at the Orwood Cemetery in Batesville. Chaplain Allen Parnell officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Karr, born June 13, 1942, to the late Hubert Karr and the late Margaret Beard Karr, was a retired carpenter and a member of Sand Springs Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife Sara Lou Potts Karr of Thaxton; one son Jimmy Rogers of Batesville; one daughter Christy Hester of Batesville four sisters, Geraldine Puttman of Batesville, Anne K. McKee of Courtland, Janie Criddle of Isola and Sara Jaudon Tartt of Charleston; one brother Joe Bob Rodgers of Water Valley; and three grandchildren.
Kendrick, Grady L.
Grady L. Kendrick, 64, of Enid died Friday, May 2, 2003 in Enid.
Services are today at Brantley Funeral Home in Olive Branch. Burial is at Camp Cemetery in Amory. Brantley Funeral Home has charge.
Kendrick was retired from Inman Construction and an avid bass and crappie fisherman.
Survivors include his wife Elizabeth Kendrick; two daughters, Kathy Kendrick of Olive Branch and Susan Janes of Byhalia; one son Charles Kendrick of Memphis and one grandchild.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Ketchum, Maggie Lou Bryant
Maggie Lou Bryant Ketchum, 80, of Ripley, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at North Mississippi Medical Center.
Services were Sunday at First Baptist Church in Ripley. Burial was at Little Hope Cemetery. Dr. Albert Wilkerson officiated. Ripley Funeral Home had charge.
Ketchum, born to the late Carter Elijah Bryant and the late Nancy Leona Hannah Bryant, was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Ripley. She was preceded in death by two brothers Calvin and Elbert Bryant.
Survivors include her husband John T. Ketchum Jr. of Ripley; two daughters, Peggy J. Henry of Batesville and Gail M. Moody of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two sons, Jimmy Ketchum of Nesbit and Michael Ray Ketchum of Memphis; three sisters, Irene Ketchum and Nylene Hurt, both of Ripley and Bertie Egondene Price of Etta; one brother Harmon Bryant of Ripley; four grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren and 11 stepgreat-grandchildren.
Key, Sarah Lou "Lucy"
Sarah Lou "Lucy" Key, 86, of Batesville, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at her residence.
Services are Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Macedonia M.B. Church at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Second Concord Cemetery – 4 Way in Batesville. Rev. J.A. Wilson. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. has charge.
Key, born Dec. 19, 1916, to the late Frank Pittman, was a housewife and a member of Second Concord M.B. Church – 4 Way.
Survivors include five daughters, Jennie Pugh of Sledge, Josephine Hallman of Crowder, Elizabeth Booker, Lou Eddie Hall and Milvira Carson, all of Chicago; seven sons, James Booker, Roy Key, Michael Key, all of Batesville, Andrew Key of Falcon, Jimmie Key of Crenshaw, Odell Key of Chicago, Ill. and Tommie Lee Key of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Mary Liza Taylor and Nora Bell Nelson, both of Chicago, Ill.; 66 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-grandchildren; a host of great-great-great-grandchildren.
Kitchell, Edward Marion
Edward Marion Kitchell, 90, of Como, died Wednesday, August 6, 2003, at North Oak Regional Medical Center in Senatobia.
Services were Saturday at Free Springs Methodist Church in Como. Burial was at Free Springs Cemetery in Como. Rev. William "Todd" Lemmon officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.
Kitchell, born Feb. 18, 1913, to the late John Pharon Kitchell and the late Lula Bedenbaugh Kitchell, was a member of Free Springs Methodist Church and a retired mechanic for Jackson Implement Company.
He is preceded in death by his wife Annie Logan Kitchell.
Survivors include one son Luther D. "Bill" Winters of Hernando; one sister Louise K. Parker of Memphis and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Free Springs Methodist Church.
Koszyk, Walter Lewis
Walter Lewis Koszyk, 60, of Batesville, died Friday, June 27, 2003, at Corinth Rehab and Health Care Facility.
Services were Tuesday, July 1 at McPeters Chapel. Burial was at Corinth National Cemetery. Bro. Tim Dixon officiated. McPeters Funeral Directors had charge.
Koszyk, born June 10, 1943, to the late Walter S. Koszyk, was a native of Chicago, Ill., a resident of Batesville since 1985 and a retired truck driver. Mr. Koszyk was of the Catholic Faith. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1960 until June 1966. A perfectionist with all tasks, he especially enjoyed caring for the lawn and gardening.
He is preceded in death by his father Walter S. Koszyk.
Survivors include his son Walter L. Koszyk and friend Chasity of Batesville; two daughters, Rebecca M. Brewer and husband Jeff and Kimberly Ann Lantrip and husband Keith, all of Batesville; one brother Michael Koszyk and wife Debbie of Chrystal Falls, Mich.; two sisters, Judy Koszyk of Chicago and Susan Greer and husband Dr. Michael of Palatine, Ill.; mother of his children and friend Diane Prescott Koszyk of Batesville, six grandchildren, Tim, Anthony, Bobby Jaco, Ashton Blaine Brewer, John Collins and Cameron Koszyk.
