Jackson, Roberta
Roberta Jackson, 66, of Coffeeville, died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Spring Hill North Church. Rev. Hentz will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Robinson and Son Funeral Directors has charge.
Jackson, born Nov. 5, 1937, was a housewife and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Jackson.
Survivors include her mother, Lillie Phillips; one daughter, Sarah Booker; and three sons, Eli Phillips, James Phillips, and Robert Phillips and 13 grandchildren.
Jenkins, Ira Leo
Ira Leo Jenkins, 81, of Meridian, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Rush Hospital in Meridian of heart failure.
Graveside services were Thursday at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Rev. Kenneth Corley officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Jenkins, born Oct. 5, 1922, to the late Fred Alvin Jenkins and the late Ina Leona Tutor Jenkins, was a truck driver and a member of Mt. Olivet Church. He was in the Navy and a Veteran of WW II.
Survivors include three brothers, Harold Jenkins of Glenhaven, Fla., Mallon Jenkins of Aberdeen and F.A. Jenkins of Maryville, Tenn.; two sisters, Margie Smith and Barbara Baggett, both of Water Valley.

Virginia Roseborough Jennings, 69, of Como, died Saturday, August 9, 2003, at her residence.
Services were Thursday at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial was at the Mt. Level M.B. Church Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Walker officiated. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.
Jennings, born April 29, 1934, to the late Roger Roseborough and the late Lillie Bell Webb, was a food handler and a member of Mt. Level M.B. Church.
Survivors include six daughters, Lois Roseborough of Senatobia, Tiwatza Anderson, Gail Brunt, Elenora Nelson, Anianda Jennings, all of Sardis and Jennifer Roseborough of Como; one son Coye Roseborough of Sardis; one sister Lillion Parker of Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother Howard Webb of Sardis; one step-brother Mack Taylor of Como; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Joe, Denny W.
Denny W. Joe, 67, of Southaven, formerly of Marks, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2003, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis of cancer.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale at 1 p.m. Burial followed in Marks Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Joe, son of the late Jimmie and Ock Jan Joe, was born March 21, 1935 in Hong Kong. He was the retired owner of Jimmie’s Grocery in Marks and Chinese Chef in Southaven.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille W. Joe of Southaven; two sons, Raymond H. Joe and Dr. Stephen W. Joe, both of Olive Branch; one brother Chiu Shun Wu of Clarksdale; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Christ of the King Catholic Church in Southaven, Trinity Baptist Church of Southaven or to the Chinese First Baptist Church in Cordova, Tenn.
Johnson, David Lindel
David Lindel Johnson, 75, of Batesville, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be announced at a later time. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Johnson, born Feb. 14, 1928, to the late David L. Johnson and the late Myrtle Hicks Johnson, was the manager for The State of Alabama Revenue Services, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa, Ala. and a veteran of WWII.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Johnson and his son David L. Johnson II of Batesville.
Survivors include one son Ken Johnson of Batesville.

James R. Johnson Jr., 88, of Senatobia, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services were Saturday at the Senatobia Presbyterian Church. Burial was at Bethesda Cemetery in Senatobia. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.
Johnson, a member of the Senatobia Presbyterian Church, was a veteran of World War II where he served in the Army Medical Corps in the European Theater. His accomplishments include former mayor of Senatobia for 16 years, former alderman of Senatobia for 10 years, former chairman of the board of directors of Peoples Bank, long time member of the Senatobia Rotary Club – A Paul Harris Fellow, past President of Senatobia Chamber of Commerce, received the Municipal Hall of Fame Award, chairman of the Tate County Bi-Racial Committee, chairman of the Tate County Democratic Executive Committee, commissioner of the Strayhorn Creek Drainage District, Grand Marshall of the Senatobia Christmas parade and avid supporter of the Northwest Community College Fine Arts Program.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Johnson Gladney of Batesville and Judith Johnson Salter of Dawsonville, Ga.; one son James Richards Johnson III of Senatobia; and one brother Col. William P. Johnson of Raleigh, Tenn.; six grandchildren, one stepgrandchild; seven great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn Moore Johnson.

Shirley Ann "Shan" Seelig Johnson, 76, formerly of Pope, died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in her home in Fort Pierce, Fla. of heart failure.

Johnson, born October 17, 1926, to August and Ida M. Sunby Seeling, was a retired technician with RCA Space Laboratories in Preston, N.J.

Jones, born Oct. 14, 1961, to the late Nolan Oliver and Ida Oliver, was disabled and a member of Miles Chapel C.M.E. Church.
Survivors include his mother Ida Oliver of Sardis; two sisters, Betty McKinney and Mary Walls, both of Sardis; one son Antiono Oliver of Sardis; two brothers, James Oliver of Sardis and Fred Oliver of Muskegon, Mich. and two grandchildren.

Fred Jones, 69, of Perris, Calif., died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at Riverside Community Hospital of cancer.
Services were Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Riverside National Cemetery.
Hemet Valley Mortuary had charge.
Jones, son of the late Eugene and Lillian Coggins Jones, was born Aug. 14, 1933, in Marks. He had worked for the Riverside Unified School District for 23 years until he retired in 1990 as a Maintenance Supervisor. Jones served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Riverside.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Doxanne Jones, and two grandsons, Michael Jones of Hemet, Calif. and David Boswell of Riverside, Calif.; his fianc?e, Dorothy Wilson of Riverside, Calif.; six sisters, Ruby Bolen, Margie Pearson, and Patricia Mettetal all of Batesville, Ellen Van Hoozer of Marks, Faye Bass of Southaven, and Mary Ruth Rice of Byhalia.

Ida Bell Douglas Jones, 76, of Charleston, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003 at her home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 2 p.m. at Newsom Funeral Home. Interment will be in Oakgrove Cemetery in Charleston. Newsom Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Jones, born July 8, 1926, was a homemaker.
Survivors include three sons, Joe Hayden Jones of Tuiunga, Calif., Jack Eugene Jones and Roger LeDell Jones, both of Charleston; one sister, Abbie Smith of Charleston; one brother, Bill Havens of Yazoo City; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband James H. Jones, her son Douglas McClure Jones, and her sister Mary Helen Townsend.

Quinton D. Jones, 15, of Sardis, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center. He died after collapsing during a physical education class at school.

Reverend John Douglas Joslin, 87, of New Albany, died Tuesday, September 9, 2003, at his residence.

Joslin, born April 1, 1916, to the late J.T. and Nellie Joslin, pastored churches in North and Central Mississippi for fifty years.
Survivors include his wife Maybelle Joslin of New Albany; five sons, Wendell Joslin of New Albany, Joe Joslin of De Ridder, La., Jack Joslin of Nesbit, Frank Joslin of Pace, Fla. and Terry Joslin of New Albany; one daughter Beth Hajeh of New Albany and 10 grandchildren.

Fredine J. Judson, 77, of Water Valley, died Tuesday, February 24, 2003, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo of natural causes.
Services will be Saturday, at 1 p.m. at Everdale M.B. Church in Water Valley with interment at Oakridge Cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Donerell Judson will officiate. Water Valley Funeral Home has charge.
Judson, born March 5, 1925, to the late Dora Oliver Fleming and the late L.C. Thomas, was a member of Everdale M.B. Church, and was a factory worker for Big Yank in Water Valley. She was the president of the NAACP for this district.
Survivors include two brothers, Robert L. Fleming of Water Valley, Leon Fleming of Louisville, Ky.; six sons, Willie Earl Judson of Rockford, Ill., James Judson, Courtney Judson, and Eric Judson all of Water Valley, Johnny Judson of Columbus and Donerell Judson of Gainesville, Va; five daughters, Margaret Roberts of Detroit, Mich., Mary L. Judson, Sandra Jones, Sheila Turner, and Tracy Turner all of Water Valley; 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister Lucille Fleming Carothers.
