Caldwell, Josie Terrell
Josie Terrell Caldwell, 99, of Sardis, died Friday, September 26, 2003, at her residence of cancer.

Services were Sunday at Union Baptist Church. Burial was at Union Baptist Cemetery. Rev. David Smith officiated. Moore Funeral Home had charge.

Caldwell, born Oct. 18, 1903, to the late William E. Terrell and the late Katie Mae Harris Terrell, was a school teacher for 40 years and a member of First Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edgar Caldwell.

Survivors include one daughter Jo Adams Cross of Sardis; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.


Calvert, Thomas Pickard (Tom)
Thomas Pickard (Tom) Calvert, 77, of Griffin, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at the Spalding Regional Medical Center.

Services were Thursday at the Chapel of the Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Burial was at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Dr. Bruce Morgan officiated. Conner-Westbury Funeral Home had charge.

Calvert, born April 26, 1926, to the late Henry Jackson Calvert and the late Annie Reeves Calvert, was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps serving in WWII, a retired salesman with Atlas Roofing, an avid gardener specializing in fantastic tomatoes, a golf enthusiast, a great story teller, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Griffin.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Jean Barber Calvert of Griffin; one son Phillip P. Calvert of Baltimore, Md.; daughters and sons-in-law, Karol and Robert Sullins of Griffin, and Nancy and Scott Massey of Bolder, Co.; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Janelle Calvert of Marietta,Ga.; daughters and sons-in-law, Janie and Billy Ray Smith of Crowder, Susan and Gary Elliot of Crowder and Debbie and Randy Smith of Olive Branch; grandchildren, Matt Sullins, Jackson Sullins, Lauren Sullins, Hank Massey, Davis Massey, Clint Calvert, Reagan Calvert, William Scott Smith, Whitney Smith, Tiffnie Hickman, Kent Smith, Ashley Elliot, Andy Beck Elliot, and Adam Elliot; sisters, Ann Griffith of Memphis, Geraldine Bridges of Lambert; brother, Jack Calvert of Crowder; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.    


Camp, Heather Nicole
Heather Nicole Camp, 14, of Courtland, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003 at Le Bonheur Childrens Medical Center in Memphis of heart failure.

Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Rev. Charles Locke officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Camp, born May 4, 1989 to Arvis D. and Barbara Freeman Camp of Courtland, was a ninth-grade student at South Panola High School and a member of Courtland Baptist Church.

Survivors in addition to her parents include two brothers, Mitchell Dawayne Camp and Nathan Mayron Camp, both of Courtland; grandparents, Odis and Betty Zenor of Courtland and Earl Camp of Sardis.

Cantrell, Ruth
Ruth Cantrell, 78, of Gurnce, Ill., died Saturday, March 1, 2003.

There will be a memorial service at Rose Hill Baptist Church, Hwy 6 East, Batesville, Friday, March 7, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. R.L. Herron will officiate.

Cantrell, born July 11, 1924, to Clara and Joe Robertson, was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis and was a retired domestic worker.

Survivors include, one daughter, Mary Merchant of Enigma, Ga.; one son, Thomas Cantrell of Union Grove, Wis.; one daughter-in-law, Carol Cantrell of Townsend, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Jody Kee and Nicole Cantrell; three great-grandchildren, Wade Harnage, Nikki Kee, and Dakota Nickel; three brothers, Joe Robertson, II of Coila, Grady Robertson of Sardis, and Guy Robertson of Walls; and one sister, Betty Jo McGuire of Walls.
 


Carrback, Katie O’Conner Dulin
Katie O’Conner Dulin Carrback, 58, of Batesville, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at her home of heart failure.

Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment at McIvor Cemetery. Rev. Roger Howell and Rev. Raye Legge officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Carrback, born May 28, 1944, to the late George E. and Ida M. Holden O’Conner was a homemaker and a member of McIvor Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Ronald E. Carrback of Batesville; one daughter, Patsy Lynn Dulin Cox of Batesville; a son, Michael Gene Dulin of Batesville; two sisters, Georgia Anne O’Conner Smith of Sardis, and Janie Ruth O’Conner Holliway of Arkabutla; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.


Caruthers, Charles Kotz
Charles Kotz Caruthers, 72, of Sardis, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at his home of smoke inhalation due to a housefire.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home, in Sardis. Interment was held at Rose Hill Cemetery. Rev. Steve Cannon officiated services. Moore Funeral Home in Sardis had charge.

Caruthers, born December 30, 1930, to the late Hulbert A. Caruthers and the late Ann Runken Caruthers Taylor was a Baptist and a former member of the National Guard.

Survivors include his wife Ruby Lee Childress Caruthers, of Sardis; one daughter, Suzan C. Hyde of Sardis; two sons, Scott Caruthers of Sardis, and Charles Caruthers, Jr. of Vicksburg; one sister, Betty Crystal of Madison, Miss; one brother, Ed Taylor of Ottowa, Kan.; and four grandchildren.


Chandler, Thomas Jesse
Thomas Jesse Chandler, 65, of Grenada, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford of heart failure.

Services were Wednesday at Enon Baptist Church. Burial was at Grenada Memorial Garden. Bro. Fletcher Moorman and Bro. Ray Burks officiated. National Funeral Home had charge.
Chandler was a member of Enon Baptist Church and the National Guard and Army Reserve.

Survivors include his wife LaWanda Champion Chandler of Grenada; one daughter Jessica Laine Chandler of Grenada; one son Samy Wayne Chandler of Crystal Springs; five sisters, Bonnie Chandler, Melissa Jo Smith, and Sherry Crenshaw, all of Water Valley, Cindy Chandler of Gulfport and Rita Graham of Pontotoc; one brother Billy Wayne Chandler of Batesville; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.


Chitry, Donald Walter Sr.
Donald Walter Chitry, Sr. 73, of Batesville, died Thursday, February 20, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Tuesday at Dickins Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Allan Kilgore officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Chitry, born Sept. 14, 1929, to the late Charles Chitry and the late Corinne Brier Chitry was a parts distributor for Chrysler Corp., assembly person in the missile program and boat captain for the port of New Orleans. He attended the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Eunice Marie McDaniel Warren Chitry of Batesville; one son, Donald Walter Chitry of Rialto, Calif.; two step-sons, Roger Warren and Ricky Warren both of Batesville; one daughter, Dianne Spicer of Alpine, Calif.; one step-daughter, Linda Goodnight of Batesville; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Rodgers.

Chrestman, Harold Max
Harold Max Chrestman, 72, of Belen, died Thursday, May 29, 2003, at Northwest MS Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale.

Services were Sunday at West Marks Baptist Church in Marks. Burial was at Belen Cemetery. Rev. Todd Bowen officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Chrestman, born, Oct. 12, 1930, to the late Charles Graden Chrestman and the late Charlene Marie Mitchell Chrestman, was a retired farmer, a member of West Mark Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a Quitman County Supervisor for 32 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Tidwell Chrestman.

Survivors include his wife Mary Louise Nosser of Belen; one son Ronnie Chrestman of Seneca, S.C.; one step-son Rainey Scott of Brandon; one brother Tommy Chrestman of Cleveland; one step-brother Jerry Haney of Boyle and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Belen Cemetery Fund, Belen.
    


Christian, Donald C. "Donny"
Donald C. "Donny" Christian, 53, died Saturday, April 26, at his residence.

Funeral services were Monday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton. Burial was in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. Bro. David Aullman and Bro. Bill Adams officiated. The American Legion Post 51 presented the flag. McNeece -Morris Funeral Home had charge.

Christian, born May 17, 1949, was a graduate of the University of Mississippi, a former police chief in Batesville, worked as a private investigator the past several years, a veteran of the Vietnam War and served overseas in South Korea in the military police/criminal investigation division and he was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church.

Survivors include his parents, Clint and Frances Dulaney Christian of Fulton; one daughter Leigh McConnell of Mobile, Ala.; one brother Dennis Christian of Batesville; one sister Linda Christian of Oxford and two grandsons.
 


Clark, Phyllis Harris
Phyllis Harris Clark, 41, of Batesville, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Universal Hospital in Jackson.

Services were Wednesday at Harmonia M.B. Church in Sardis. Burial was at Harmonia Church. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home had charge.

Clark, born to James Jackson and Betty Irene Brooks, was a member of Harmonia M.B. Church and was employed with the Batesville Job Corps Center.

Survivors include her parents, James Jackson and Betty Irene Brooks; one son Peterrio Dan’te Clark of Sardis; two sisters, Monica Y. Jackson of Corona, Calif. and Janice Brooks of Courtland; nine brothers, Kelwin L. Jackson of Corona, Calif., Elton W. Hurt of Sardis, Carl J. Watkins and Steven B. Watkins, both of Memphis, Tenn., James Brooks and Anthony Brooks, both of Sardis, Myron Brooks, Shaun Brooks and Darian Brooks, all of Anderson, Tenn. and her grandparent Creather Jackson Stitts.


Cloninger, Odis "Pop’s" H.
Odis "Pop’s" H. Cloninger, 88, of Oakland, died Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were Thursday at Newsom Funeral Home. Burial was at Woodlawn in Sumner. Newsom Funeral Home had charge.

Cloninger, born March 21, 1915, was a retired farmer.

He is preceded in death by his wife Alice Marie Cummings Cloninger and two daughters, Mary Alice Smith and Sybil Bernice Owen.

Survivors include seven daughters, Pauline Morris of Clarksdale, Faye Owen of Holcomb, Betty Sensabaugh of Batesville, Barbara Winters of Oakland, Frances Breazeale of Philadelphia, Miss., Myra Wilmoth of Pearl and Florence Foster of Webb; one son Johnny Cloninger of Natchez; 41 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
 


Cobb, James Robert "Jimbo"
James Robert "Jimbo" Cobb, 21, of Batesville, died Saturday, August 23, 2003, in Monroe County as a result of an auto accident.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial is at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope. Rev. Ricky Cook, Rev. Ed Knox and Rev. Linnie Maples will officiate. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Cobb, born May 15, 1982, to James G. Cobb and Gwendolyn Walters Walker, was a turf management student at East Mississippi Community College, employed with Green Oakes Golf Course and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Columbus.

Survivors include his mother Gwen Walters Walker of Columbus; his father Jim G. Cobb of Forest City, Ark.; grandparents, Frank and Ruby Newton, both of Enid; his great-grandmother Ollie Howell of Pope and one aunt Sandra Cobb of Arlington, Texas.


Cobern, Thelma Lee
Thelma Lee Cobern, 73, of Southaven, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, in her home.

Services were Monday at Dickins Chapel in Batesville. Burial was at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Pope. Rev. Kevin Crofford officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Cobern, born March 22, 1930, to the late James Willie and the late Ethel Dorothy Simmons Duke, was a seamstress and a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother Hermon Marion Duke of Okolona; and one sister Minnie Dye of Pope.


Coker, Hubert
Hubert Coker, 73, of Lambert, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at his home of a heart attack.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2:00 p.m. at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Interment was at Lambert Cemetery in Lambert. Rev. Charles Keel officiated services. Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks had charge of arrangements.

Coker, born Sept. 23, 1929, to the late John Coker and the late Maggie Coker was a retired Quitman County employee and a member of Walnut Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the US Air Force.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Coker of Lambert; one son, Michael Coker also of Lambert; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.


Coker, Terry Glen
Terry Glen Coker, 41, of Gautier, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003 at his residence of a heart attack.

Services were Sunday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was at Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Rev. Don O’Quin officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Coker, born March 5, 1962 to Euve West Coker of Gautier and the late Thomas Wilson Coker, was a musician.

Survivors, in addition to his mother, include three brothers, Thomas O. Coker of Hattiesburg, Kenneth W. Coker of Olathe, Kan. and David A. Coker of Covington, Va.; and one sister Debbie C. Horn of Memphis.


Coleman, Janie Drinkard
Janie Drinkard Coleman, 49, of Batesville, died Saturday, June 28, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Memphis of heart failure.

Services are today at Wells Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial is at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Damon Plummer, Rev. Rayford Ables and Rev. Rusty Robertson will officiate. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Coleman, born May 15, 1954, to the Carl and Annie Williams Drinkard, was a secretary for Sardis Lake Water Association and a member of Hosanna Family Worship Center.

She is preceded in death by her sister Jackie Smith.

Survivors include her husband William J. Coleman of Batesville; two daughters, Wendy Ingram of Batesville and Kaye Sanders of Southaven; three sons, Tommy Coleman and Greg Coleman, both of Batesville and Dexter Coleman of Bartlett; one sister Pat Drinkard Rarick of Prattville, Ala.; two brothers, Jimmy Drinkard of Senatobia and Ricky Drinkard of Prattville, Ala.; 10 grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to Hosanna Family Worship Center’s Children Fund.


Collins, Ernest Lee Jr.
Ernest Lee Collins, Jr, 90, of Sardis, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, North Miss. in Oxford.

Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel, with interment at Tyro Baptist Church Cemetery in Tyro, Miss. Rev. Doyce N. Gunter and Rev. Glenn Miller officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Collins, born Dec. 24, 1912, to the late Ernest L. and Burma Stevens Collins Sr., was retired from U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sardis.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Louise Crockett Collins of Oxford; two sons, Alva Lee Collins of Saucier, Miss. and Graham W. Collins of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.


Comfort, Vivien Sweat
Vivien Sweat Comfort, 73, of Sardis, died Sunday, June 8, 2003, at Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Services are Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Sardis United Methodist Church. Burial is at Rose Hill Cemetery. Dr. Doyce Gunter will officiate. Moore Funeral Home has charge.

Comfort, born July 30, 1929, was a member of Sardis United Methodist Church where she was on the Board of Trustees, a member of United Methodist Women, member of Sardis Woman’s Club and The Heflin House Museum, a graduate of Ole Miss, where she was affiliated with Chi Omega Sorority. She and her husband, Frank, moved to Sardis in 1962; she worked for around ten years as a Secretary for the North Panola High School and she retired from Mississippi Power and Light, where she had been employed for a number of years.

She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Comfort and her brother N.S. "Soggy" Sweat.
Survivors include one sister Lillian Blanchard of Grand Prairie, Texas and one brother Thomas L. Sweat of Corinth.


Cook, Maggie Jordan
Maggie Jordan Cook, 88, of Courtland, died Friday, September 19, 2003, at her residence of heart failure.

Services were Sunday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Rev. Charles Locke officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Cook, born to the late Ernest and Daisy Stephens Jordan, was a homemaker and the oldest living member of the Courtland Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Earnie Dean Cook.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Cook Burns of Batesville and Jean Cook Rosenburger of Pasadena, Calif.; two sons, Donald Cook of Batesville, Sid Cook of Courtland and Charlie Cook of Batesville; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.


Cooper, Richard Javaras "Jay"
Richard Javaras "Jay" Cooper, 24, of Batesville, died Friday, July 11, 2003, at Baptist Memorial East in Memphis.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Coleman Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be at Batesville Cemetery. Rev. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Cooper, born to James Richard Cooper and Roise Williams Cooper, was a member of Coleman Chapel A.M.E. Church and was in the choir.

Survivors include his parents, James Richard and Roise Cooper of Batesville; two sisters, Pacely D. Cooper of Batesville and Shabeta Keys of Como and his grandmother Eva Williams of Como.


Cooper, Vergie Lee
Vergie Lee Cooper, 90, of Franklinton, La., died Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2003 at her home .

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 13, at 11 a.m. at Deliverance Tabernacle Pentecostal Church in Batesville. Interment was at Oak Grove Cemetery in Crowder. Bishop E. M. Fondren officiated services. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc.

Cooper, born Jan. 2, 1913, to the late Jim Wilkins and the late Rachael Wilkins was a housewife and a member of Sweet Home Holiness Church in Franklinton, La.

Survivors include three sons, Melvin Cooper, Jerry Cooper, Jr., and Peter Cooper all of Milwaukee, Wis.; two grandsons, David Cooper and James Cooper also of Milwaukee, Wis.; 35 grandchildren; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren.


Corithers, Annis Clyde Ray Ales
Annis Clyde Ray Ales Corithers, 96, of Batesville, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare in Batesville of heart failure.

Services were Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Blackjack Cemetery. Hal Johnson officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Corithers, born Aug. 29, 1907, to the late Charlie Melvin and the late Emily Elizabeth McGhee Ray, was a homemaker and a member of Central Academy Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter Annis Elizabeth Ales Russell of Batesville; two sons, Lonnie P. Ales of Batesville and Virgil L. Ales of Sardis; one sister Julie Mae Ray Ales Johnson of Batesville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.


Cosby, William Wyatt
William Wyatt Cosby of Oakland, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center where he was stillborn.

Graveside services were Saturday at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery in Courtland. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Cosby was born Dec. 17, 2003, to Dennis Ray and Wendy Pierce Cosby.

Survivors include four sisters, Leann Rockwood of Courtland, Ashley Mount, Holly Mount and Kaytlyn Mount, all of Southaven; one brother Mikey Mount of Southaven; one uncle Michael Dane Rockwood of Courtland; grandparents, Steven and Hazel Pierce of Batesville and Mildred Cosby of Courtland; and one great-grandmother Pauline Pierce of Sarah.    


Coston, Doyle Lee
Doyle Lee Coston, 59, of Sledge, died Monday, June 23, 2003, at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford.

Services were Wednesday at Longtown Cemetery in Longtown. Burial was at Longtown Cemetery.

Rev. John Parker officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Coston, born Dec. 11, 1943, to the late Orbie O. Coston and Ruby Wiggs Coston, was a retired tool and die operator at Chromcraft and a member of Sledge Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother Ruby Wiggs Coston of Sledge; his wife Elizabeth Coston of Sledge; three sons, Doyle L. Coston, Jr. of Crenshaw, Orbie Coston and John Coston, both of Sledge; one daughter Ruby Jo Coston of Sledge; one brother James Coston of Ardmore, Ala. and two sisters, Dorothy Mae Burling of St. Mary’s, Ga. and Martha Sue Woolfolk of Sardis.


Cox, Brandon Jay
Brandon Jay Cox, 17, of Batesville died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center emergency room from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Batesville Jr. High School auditorium. His body will lie in repose Saturday at Batesville Jr. High School auditorium from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be at Spring Hill ASA Cemetery in Courtland. Rev. Ozine Thomas will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge of arrangements.

Cox, born Sept. 30, 1985, to Theola Dishmon of Sardis and Edna Cox of Batesville, was a student at South Panola High School, a football player, on the track team and a member of Seven Day Adventist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother Thelarnis Dishmon of Batesville.


Cox, Lillie Mae Hall
Lillie Mae Hall Cox, 83, formerly of Courtland, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Sinai Grace Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

Services were Saturday, Dec. 13, at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland. Burial was in the church cemetery. Rev. Carl Brown officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. had charge.

Cox, born Sept. 9, 1920, to the late Edward Hall and the late Lillie Redd, was a housewife and a member of Shiloh M.B. Church where she served on the mother board, as an usher, Vacation Bible School director, home mission secretary, dinette committee chairman and program committee chairman. She was also a Sunday School Teacher. She was the Worthy Matron of the Order of Easter Star, Panola Chapter No. 2.

Survivors include one son; Claude Cox of Courtland; three daughters, Eleanor Hamilton and Mary Paulette Henderson, both of Detroit, Mich. and Eddie Faye Mosley of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Gennie Hall and Aneva Humpery, both of New Burg, N.Y.; three brothers Charlie Hall, Ezekiel Hall and Joe Hall, all of New Burg, N.Y.; a stepmother Mamie Hall of New Burg, N.Y.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.


Cox, Norma Jean
Norma Jean Cox, 58, of Tunica, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003, at Tunica Convalescent Center.

Services were Saturday at Olive Ray M.B. Church in Pope. Burial was at the church cemetery. Rev. L.C. Smith officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.

Cox, born June 10, 1945, to C.P. Cox and the late Gladys Lloyd Cox, was disabled and a member of Olive Ray M.B. Church.

Survivors include her father C.P. Cox of Sardis and one son Brian Lamar of Holly Springs.


Crafton, Ralph Laurance
Ralph Laurance Crafton, 86, of Sardis, died Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services will be today at 10:30 a.m. at Graceland Christian Church in Southaven. Rev. Rachel Woodall will officiate services. Waller Funeral Home has charge.

Crafton, a retired salesman with Lubrication Engineers in Fort Worth, Texas served as a First Lt. in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a member of Graceland Christian Church and also a member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife Marguerite D. Crafton of Sardis; three sons, Ralph W. Crafton, of Southaven, Steve J. Crafton of Sardis, and Richard N. Crafton of Memphis; one sister, Victoria Dillingham of Kansas City, Mo; nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Crawford, Jesse Lee
Jesse Lee Crawford, 48, of Water Valley, died Thursday, August 21, 2003, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services are Saturday at 2 p.m. at Everdale M.B. Church in Water Valley. Burial is at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Water Valley. Rev. Theodis Austin will officiate. Water Valley Funeral Home has charge.

Crawford, born to Elizabeth Hudson and Rev. Phil Brown, was a roofing contractor and a member of the Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife Paterica Reed.

Survivors include his mother Elizabeth Hudson of Pensacola, Fla.; his father Rev. Phil Brown of Cleveland, Ohio; two daughters, Casandra Crawford and Lachritia Crawford, both of Coffeeville and one son Terance Crawford of Coffeeville.


Crisler, Carol
Carol Crisler, 66, of Southaven, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Baptist DeSoto.

Services will be Friday, March 7, 2003, at Pope Baptist Church in Pope. Family Funeral Care Summer Avenue Chapel will have charge.

Crisler, the daughter of Elizabeth Brown, was retired from Haverty’s Furniture Company, was a member of Pope Baptist Church and was a writer who had a book published.

Survivors include one daughter, Diane Swain of Memphis, one son, Alan Crisler of Pope; five sisters, Billie Capwell of Pope, Kathryn Sullivant of Memphis, Judy Brown of Pope, Wanda Griffin of Memphis and Barbara Watts of Marion, Ark.; four brothers, William Thomas Brown of Memphis, Bobby Brown of Olive Branch, Richard Brown of Pope and James H. Brown of Pope; and one granddaughter.


Crowell, Margaret Mae
Margaret Mae Crowell, 74, of Oakland, died Thursday, September 18, 2003, at North Mississippi Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services were Sunday at Dickins Chapel. Burial was at Oakland Cemetery. Rev. Clay Baker officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Crowell, born Dec. 4, 1928, to the late Jim Andrews and the late Tyice Wells Andrews, was a clerk, a homemaker and a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband W.K. Crowell of Oakland; one daughter Linda Hopper of Oakland; two sisters, Pauline Wilburn and Elizabeth Ayers, both of Grenada; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
