Business poised for expansion

BATESVILLE – A unique Panola County business is poised to take off, says Larry Freeman, vice president of The Hangar, Inc.
The aircraft repair and maintenance facility has been located at the Panola County Airport for approximately three and a half years, Freeman told Batesville Exchange Club members last week.
The Hangar, Inc. is the only Class 3 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified repair and maintenance station in the State of Mississippi.
Vick shares good memories of life near the riverbank
BY TOMMY BROOKS AND MIKE ROBINSON ENID LAKE PARK RANGERS In 1927, the worst flood of record hit the Mississippi Delta. In the same year, Babe Ruth hit a record 60 home runs.
Ruth’s record would stand for 34 years and the flood still stands as the worst on record. Ruth had a little known teammate by the name of Sam Vick, who was from the Mount Olivet Community in Panola County.
Cotton Blooms
The cotton has begun to bloom, as witnessed by the Atkinson children last Thursday, June 27. The crew stopped by The Panolian office to show the first blooms of the season.
The Atkinson children with blooms include (front) Braiden Atkinson; (back, l to r) Tanner Atkinson, Cassidy Atkinson and Allyssa Atkinson.
The blooms are from land farmed by A.C., Bubba and Todd Atkinson. These are the children of Todd and Sheryl Atkinson and grandchildren of A.C. and Sandra Atkinson.
Enid Lake Beaches

With the lake levels falling, all beaches are now open at Enid Lake. Remember, there is a $1 per person up to $3 per vehicle charge for use of these beaches.
To help protect our public, all beaches at Enid Lake are equipped with depth marker poles to help swimmers determine water depth. Rescue poles and throw bags are also available in the event a swimmer gets into trouble.
