Law Enforcement Seeks Help

BATESVILLE – Area law enforcement officials need your help with a case currently under investigation.
"If you have purchased merchandise from a store, financed it with a finance company," said Batesville Police Det. Paul Shivers, "but have not received your merchandise, I need to hear from you."
Shivers said they are currently investigating the incident, but are still in need of information from people who have experienced or are experiencing a similar situation.
If you have purchased merchandise from a store, financed it, but never received the merchandise you purchased, contact the Batesville Police Department at 563-5653 or the Panola County Sheriff’s Department at 563-563-6230.
Programs Available to Help Prevent Abuse
BATESVILLE – A three-phase program aimed at helping teenagers who have landed on the wrong side of the law is seeing success, says Jan Sample, director of the Child Abuse Prevention Center of North Mississippi.
Sample told members of the Batesville Exchange Club Wednesday, June 12, the Center, located in Oxford, had been working with 12-year-old to 17-year-old boys and their families for the past year.

Dispute resolved by parties Two families purchase land

BATESVILLE – A dispute between developer Larry Montgomery and residents of the College and Goff Streets area in Batesville was resolved Wednesday, June 12, when the parties settled the matter among themselves.
Montgomery agreed to sell the seven-acre tract of land to two families who live in the Goff-Woods Subdivision.
