| Building Permits Halted |

BATESVILLE – Homeowners from the College and Golf Street area asked city officials to temporarily stop issuing building permits on any lots not properly subdivided and had no approved subdivision plat. Clarksdale attorney Hunter Twiford, who represented the homeowners, made the request of the Batesville Board of Aldermen Tuesday, May 7.

 Bradford signs with Tennessee
VANDERBILT – Five Commodore seniors, including record-setting quarterback Greg Zolman and 2001 captains Nate Morrow and Antuian Bradford, have inked free agent contracts with National Football League (NFL) teams.
Former Commodores with free-agent deals include Morrow and Bradford, both with the Tennessee Titans. Morrow and Bradford parlayed excellent conditioning workouts three weeks ago at the Titans’ Nashville complex into deals with Tennessee, becoming the first Commodores to sign with the Titans since the franchise relocated to Nashville in 1997.
The Titans are expected to give Bradford a look at linebacker roles. Bradford also is projected as a potential special teams standout. When Bradford signed to play in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, Monday, April 22, that put four former South Panola players in the NFL. Bradford joins Dwayne Rudd of the Cleveland Browns, Deshea Townsend of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and newly signed Josh Bright of the Baltimore Ravens. Bright and Bradford were teammates and graduated in 1997. They played in the state championship game.
