"Consider Us" says Industry

BATESVILLE – A Batesville industry representative told city leaders to consider his industry for the city’s sewer rehabilitation project.
Chuck Tramel, director of manufacturing at Insituform Technologies, Inc., told the Batesville Board of Aldermen that the rehabilitation of distribution and transmission lines, such as sewer lines, is a large part of their business.
No objections filed to $9 million loan

BATESVILLE – No objections were filed on the intent of city officials to borrow up to $9 million for construction for phase two of the civic center project.
Financial consultant Demery Grubbs told the Batesville Board of Aldermen last week the next step was for them to determine how much of the $9 million they needed to borrow for the project.

Bright signs with Ravens

CLEVELAND – Former Delta State University quarterback Josh Bright has signed a one-year free agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The Batesville native was scheduled to report to Ravens mini-camp on Thursday, April 25.
Bright, who was contacted by several teams – including the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Bears – hopes to find his niche at either the quarterback or tight end position.
Bright is the fourth player from Panola County to sign a contract to play in the NFL.
Nickens joins North Delta staff

BATESVILLE – Tim Nickens, formerly of Charleston, is the latest addition to the North Delta coaching staff.
Nickens joined the staff Monday, April 22, as the new defensive coordinator, offensive and defensive line and the strength coach.
