Fancher, Raiford Lindsey "Tate"
Raiford Lindsey Fancher, 91, of Marion (formerly of Senatobia), died Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Benchmark Healthcare of heart failure.
Graveside services were held Sunday, November 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Batesville-Magnolia Cemetery. Rev. Dr. Jon Burnam officiated the services. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Fancher, son of the late Marion Herbert and Rosa Vernon Haynes Fancher, was born November 28, 1910, in Panola County. He was a cattleman and a member of the Senatobia First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Inez Carter Fancher.
Survivors include his two daughters, Nancy Yates, of Philadelphia, and Dot Smith, of Batesville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Faulkner, Willie James
Willie James Faulkner, 40, of Lambert, died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at his home of heart failure.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, at 1 p.m. at Sykes Chapel M.B. Church. Rev. L. Johnson will officiate the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Delta Burial Corporation is in charge of arrangements.
Faulkner was born August 29, 1961, in Lambert. He graduated from Quitman County High School and from Northwest Mississippi Community College. He was previously employed by ACI in Batesville. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Christine Faulkner of Lambert; two daughters, Latosha Faulkner and Chandrea Jackson, both of Lambert; a son, Antianio Faulkner of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; seven brothers, Ervin Faulkner, Rickey Faulkner, William Faulkner, Jeffrey Faulkner, Nathaniel Faulkner, Micheal Faulkner, all of Batesville, and Daniel Faulkner, of Sumner; and two sisters, Leshia Faulkner and Belinda Faulkner, both of Batesville.
Faust, Floy Inez Williams
Floy Inez Williams Faust, 96, of Marks, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Quitman County Nursing Home in Marks of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 26, at First Baptist Church in Marks. Rev. Don O’Quin and Rev. Laurie Jones officiated the service. Burial was in Lambert Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Faust, daughter of the later Peter Turl and Pearl Willis Williams, was born February 5, 1906. She was a graduate of Tutwiler High School, retired owner of a clothes cleaner and a member of First Baptist Church in Marks.
Survivors include one daughter, Elizabeth Barnes of Marks; two sons, Gene Faust of Lambert and Billy Faust of Marks; one sister, Anna Williams Harvey of Columbus; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Few, Robert Earl
Robert Few, 36, of Grenada, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002, at University Medical Center of heart failure.
Graveside services were held Friday, November 1, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Cemetery in Calhoun County. Rev. S.D. Johnson officiated the services. Garner-Harper Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Few, son of Mary Sutton of Batesville and the late Walter Robert Few, was born July 25, 1966. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lola Allday Few and his uncle, William Few.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons, Jeffery Taylor Few and Derrick Few, both of Grenada; one sister, Samantha Lynn Few of Vicksburg; one half-sister, Melisa Purdy of Batesville; two aunts, Bertha McNatt of Grenada, and Ruby Lee Kennedy of Metairie, LA.

Mary Fields, 72, of Batesville, died Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at her home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 10, at 11 a.m. at New Enon M.B. Church. Rev. Zannie Leland, Jr. officiated the service. Burial was in the church cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary, Inc. had charge of arrangements.
Fields, daughter of the late David and Lynna Fox Wiley, was born October 29, 1929, in Batesville. She was a retired custodian and a member of New Enon M.B. Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Iris Pauline Fields and Marilyn Fields, both of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sons, James Kell Fields, Jr. of Milwaukee and David Stanley Fields of Los Angeles, California; a brother, David Wiley, Jr. of Memphis, Tennessee; two sisters, Pauline LaGrone and Bernice Stinson, both of Batesville; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Fondren, Mae Julia
Mae Julia Fondren, 53, of Sardis, died Sunday, February 24, 2002, in Sardis from injuries received as a result of an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Gilliom M.B. Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Sardis. Hodges Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Fondren, daughter of Lewis and Hattie Fondren of Sardis, was a retired HeadStart teacher.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include two daughters, Princess Ingram of Clarksdale and Lisa Hodges of Sardis; a son, Stan Hodges of Clarksdale; two sisters, Willie Jean Alston of Wheatley Heights, New York and Clara Black of Batesville; four brothers, Bobby Fondren and George Fondren, both of Batesville, L.P. Fondren of Sardis and Alexander Fondren of Courtland; and five grandchildren.

Bobby Ray Ford, 66, of Sardis, died Wednesday, August 7, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – East in Memphis, Tennessee, of heart failure.

Ford, son of the late Riley B. and Myrtis Cook Ford, was born July 29, 1936, in Mississippi. He was disabled and a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Appleton Duke Ford of Batesville; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Duke Walker of Walls and Billie Duke Lawrence of Batesville; three sisters, Dorothy Jean Ford Mixon and Julia Ann Ford Thompson, both of Courtland, and Kay Ford Mettetal of Sardis; three brothers, James W. Ford of Water Valley, Aley Boyd Ford and M.J. "Sonny" Ford, both of Courtland; and a grandson, William Kiely Lawrence of Batesville.

Jimmy Dale Ford, 45, of Charleston, died Sunday, June 2, 2002, at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston of a heart attack.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at Springhill Baptist Church in Oakland. Burial was in Magnolia Garden Cemetery in Charleston. Newson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Ford, son of William Henry Ford of Charleston and the late Johnnie Ford, was born August 28, 1956. He was a contractor.
Survivors, other than his father, include a son, Jimmy Austin Ford of Charleston; a step-daughter, Shannon Hill of Charleston; two step-sons, Richard Rogers and Paul Rogers, both of Jackson; six sisters, his twin, Wanda Wortham, Henrece Murphy, Faye Tingle and Connie Smith, all of Charleston, Revia Louise Howard of Enid and Linda Carol Overstreet of Pascagoula; and two brothers, Larry Ford of Charleston and Harry Ford of Oakland.
Foster, William Wayne
William Wayne Foster, 30, of Horn Lake, died Saturday, July 20, 2002, at his home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, at 2 p.m. at National Funeral Chapel. Bro. Robert Rawson and Bro. Michael Bates officiated the service.
Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Sumner. National Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Foster, son of Tommy and Sandra Foster of Batesville, was born December 28, 1971, in Clarksdale. He graduated from Clarksdale High School.
He was a commercial heating and air technician and a member of Clarksdale Church of Christ.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Jessica Davis Foster of Horn Lake; a daughter, Jessica Anne Foster of Clarksdale; two sons, Jared Wayne Foster and William Jaden Foster, both of Horn Lake; a grandmother, Eula Mae Foster of Webb; a sister, Beth Foster of Batesville; and a nephew, John Haden Foster of Batesville.
Flint, Evelyn Conger
Evelyn Conger Flint, 85, of Batesville, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of a ruptured aneurysm.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Rev. Don Bishop and Rev. Martin Case officiated the service. Burial was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Flint, daughter of the late Ben C. and Maybelle Hogue Conger, was born February 16, 1917, in Bolivar County. She was an honor graduate of Delta State University and did graduate work at The University of Mississippi. She taught history in the local public school for many years. She was a retired National Council Instructor in horticulture and flower show procedure and taught courses in the United States, Peru and Mexico. Having taught in the National Council Symposiums for Instructors Only, she won an award for outstanding achievement for horticulture for the State of Mississippi in 1980. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. She helped organized the Batesville Public Library, the Batesville Woman’s Club and the Batesville Garden Club, of which she served as president. She wrote a gardening column for The Panolian for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Calvin E. Flint, Jr. of Batesville; two daughters, Lucy Flint Fuller of Talladega, Alabama, and Judith Flint Savage of Batesville; two sons, Calvin E. Flint, III and Ben Conger Flint, both of Batesville; a brother, Ralph Conger of Rosedale; a sister, Lucille Vesley of Mobile, Alabama; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Frost, Johnnye
Johnnye Frost, 81, of Sardis, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, of heart failure.

Frost, son of the late Tommy Frost and Ora Pearl, was born November 6, 1921, in Mississippi. He attended Panola County schools and was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include his wife, Alma Frost of Sardis; four daughters, Joyce DeJesus of Joenson, Michigan, Mattie Cheek of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Pearl Tolbert of Dallas, Texas, and Dianne Frost of Sardis; five sons, Tommie Frost of Battle Creek, Michigan, Johnnie Frost of Joenson, Michigan, Willie Frost of Los Angeles, California, Major Frost of Inglewood, California, and James Henderson of Kingport, Tennessee; a sister, Beulah Miller of Memphis; and 20 grandchildren.
Fulghum, James E. Sr.
James E. Fulghum, Sr., 65, of Batesville, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, died Monday, June 3, 2002, at his home of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4, at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Derrick Simmons officiated the service. Burial was in Memorial Hill Gardens in Memphis. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Fulghum, son of the late John Elbert and Estelle G. George Fulghum, was born December 13, 1926, in Memphis. He was the owner of AA Battery and Air Conditioner Service in Memphis for 42 years. He was nationally recognized for sales and marketing in the mobile air conditioning industry. He retired in 1990. He was the founder and member of the Memphis Rodders Car Club, and was present at the first Daytona 500 race when they started racing on the track. He raced the opening night at Riverside Speedway. He was also a participant in the 1956 NHRA Nationals in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a member of First Faith Baptist Church in Batesville, was an avid football fan of the University of Memphis Tigers, and was a member of the Highland 100 Club. He belonged to the Al Chymia Shrine Temple and served as past president of the motor division. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW in Olive Branch.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Elaine Fulghum of Batesville; two daughters, Patricia L. Fulghum and Glynda Jane Fulghum, both of Memphis; two sons, James E. Fulghum, Jr. and Harold Fulghum, both of Memphis; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Franklin, Woodrow
Woodrow ‘Woody’ Franklin, 83, of Batesville, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, at 11 a.m. at Dickins Chapel. Rev. Doug Pepper officiated the service.
Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Franklin, son of the late Richard and Hattie Anderson Franklin, was born April 27, 1919, in Panola County. He was a retired carpenter for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and the 32nd Scottish Rite Mason.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Veedy Kennedy Franklin of Batesville; four daughters, Donna Turner and Tammy Franklin, both of Batesville, Sheila Ragon of Courtland and Cheryl Elkins of Lawton, Oklahoma; a son, Paul Franklin of Batesville; a brother, John Franklin of Batesville; a sister, Cornelia McCullar of Como; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
