Francine Dandridge, 62, of Sardis, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at U.T. Bowld Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. W. O. McKinney officiated the service. Burial was in Cistern Hill Cemetery in Como. Henderson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Dandridge, daughter of the late Joe Nathan and Sarah Davis Dandridge, was born December 2, 1939, in Panola County. She was a domestic worker and a member of Pleasant Green M.B. Church.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Dandridge of Wood Bridge, Virginia, Marcus Dandridge of Japan and Mario Dandridge of Sardis; and three sisters, Jennie Hardin, Gertrude Parks and Ora Dandridge, all of Sardis.
Daniels, Jessie Willie
Jessie Willie Daniels, 53, of Como, died Friday, June 28, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – East in Memphis, Tennessee, of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 6, at 1 p.m. at Hunter Chapel M.B. Church. Burial was in Cistern Hills Cemetery in Como. C.O. Pate Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Daniels was a factory worker at ITT and a member of Hunter Chapel M.B. Church.
Survivors include an aunt, Beatrice Simmons, who raised and cared for him; three sisters, Julian Daniels of Oceola, Arkansas, Barbara Jean Daniels of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Lula Daniels of Atlanta, Georgia; and nine brothers, Wallace Daniels of Como, Leroy Nelson of Chicago, Illinois, Cleveland Daniels, III, Johnny Daniels, Michael Daniels, Jerome Daniels and Reginald Daniels, all of Meadville, Pennsylvania, Myron Daniels of East St. Louis, Illinois, and Gregory Daniels of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Shadwick Daniels, Sr., 84, of Water Valley, died Thursday, August 8, 2002, at Yalobusha General Hospital in Water Valley of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 11, at 2 p.m. at Church of God in Christ in Water Valley. Burial was in Oakridge Cemetery. Nicholson Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Daniels, son of the late Hekial and Irene Daniels, was born April 25, 1918, in Yalobusha County. He was self-employed and a member of Church of God in Christ in Water Valley.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Survivors include a son, Shadwick Daniels, Jr. of Oakland; two daughters, Shirley Hentz of Coffeeville and Charlene Brown of Chicago, Illinois; and three sisters, Luella Turner and Bertha Judson, both of Water Valley, and Evelyn Conway of Chicago.
Darby, William Thomas
William Thomas Darby, 60, of Enid, died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at Willow Springs Assembly of God. Rev. Tommy Darby officiated the service. Burial was in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Darby, son of Curtis Emmit Darby of Enid and the late Ethel Jackson Darby, was born March 10, 1941, in Tallahatchie County. He was a retired construction worker and a member of Willow Springs Assembly of God.
Survivors, other than his father, include a daughter, Angela Vance of Grenada; three brothers, Raymond Darby and Daymond Darby, both of Enid, and James Alexander Darby of Southaven; a sister, Geneva Dale Darby of Jackson; and two grandchildren

Daugherty, Tommy Sr.
Tommy Daugherty, Sr., 51, of Courtland, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at his home of heart failure.

Daugherty, son of Marlene Pearson Daugherty of Courtland and the late Selmer Daugherty, was born April 3, 1951, in Lambert. He was a farmer and a member of New Hope Church of God.

Davis, Ronnie Sr.
Ronnie Davis, Sr., 81, of Como, died Monday, August 19, 2002, at his home of heart failure.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Senatobia. Bro. Michael Cathey will officiate the service. Burial will be in Mt. Level Cemetery in Como. Henderson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Davis, son of the late William Davis and Minnie M. Mangrum, was born December 6, 1921. He attended Panola County schools. He was a mechanic, a member of Shady Grove M.B. Church, and a veteran of World War II inthe C186A Engr. Ad IV unit.
Survivors include his wife, Matilda Davis of Como; four daughters, Linda Allen and Shirley Burton, both of Como, Barbara A. Davis and Irma J. Wilson, both of Memphis, Tennessee; two sons, Ronnie Davis, Jr. and Kenneth L. Davis, both of Memphis; 26 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Velvie Dillon, 85, of Selmer, Tennessee, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Selmer. Rev. Max Walker officiated the service. Burial was in Falcon Cemetery in Selmer. Shackelford Funeral Directors had charge of arrangements.
Dillon, daughter of the late Ernest John and Dovie Lou Kirk Locke, was a homemaker and a member of Selmer First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by four brothers Verble Dillon, Vestie Goolsby, Lessie Mullins and Ezra Locke.
Survivors include her husband, Willard Arnold Dillon of Selmer; a daughter, Doris Standard of Pope; two sisters, Bertie S. Hill and Vergie L. Redmon, both of Selmer; a brother, Tildon Locke of Selmer; two grandchildren, Brenda DuBois of Pope and Randy Stanfield of Batesville; and six great-grandchildren.

Annsleigh Grace Doty of Batesville was stillborn Saturday, July 6, 2002, at Grenada Lake Medical Center.

Doty was the daughter of Leslie and Bridgett Hyland Doty of Batesville.
Survivors, other than her parents, include three half-sisters, Kaitlin Doty, Carlee Doty and Sarah Jane Doty, all of Brookhaven; and grandparents, Nancy and Noel Hyland, James Doty and Carrie Doty, all of Courtland.

Fannie Gertrude Douglas, 87, of Marks, died Tuesday, February 5, 2002, at Quitman County Hospital of heart failure.

Douglas, daughter of the late Robert Ross and Pearl Mitchell Dye, was born March 5, 1914, in Pittsboro. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Dublin Baptist Church. She was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Hermon James Dover, 81, of Sledge, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at Northwest Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale of cancer.

Dover, son of the late William Floyd and Anna Sullivan Dover, was born March 23, 1921, in Calhoun County. He was a retired mechanic and a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Lillian Dover, of Sledge; a daughter, Grace Barlow of Senatobia; three sons, Irvin James Dover of St. Matthews, South Carolina, Oliver Dover of Ecru and Richard Dover of Sarah; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Willie Maxcine Draper, 62, of Sardis, died Tuesday, August 6, 2002, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford of cancer.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home in Batesville. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Gillion M.B. Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hodges Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Draper was a native of Lafayette County. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Gillion M.B. Church.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur D. Draper of Sardis; two daughters, Detrice Draper of Montgomery, Alabama, and Angela Draper of Sardis; a son, Mac Arthur Draper of Sardis; a sister, Juanita Terrell of Oxford; two brothers, Lawrence Joiner and Earnest Joiner, both of Oxford; and four grandchildren.
Dungan, Fred Don
Fred Don Dungan, 75, of Charleston, died Thursday, August 29, 2002, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo of heart failure.

Dungan was born July 20, 1927. He was a retired area supervisor for TVA Power Company.
Survivors include his wife, Curtis Akins Dungan of Charleston; a daughter, Pam Dungan Adair of Pontotoc; three sons, Donny A. Dungan, Randy Dungan and Berry Dungan, all of Charleston; two sisters, Nancy Fay Dungan of Phoenix, Arizona, and Margaret Dungan Stewart of Henderson, Tennessee; a brother, Glen Dungan of Enid; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Dyer, June Emerson
June Emerson Dyer, 78, of Oakland, died Monday, February 25, 2002, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center of heart failure.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 26, at 10 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiated the service. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Wood Point. Wells Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Dyer, daughter of the late Thomas Herbert and Jewel Withrow Emerson, was born January 1, 1924, in Memphis, Tennessee. She received a bachelor’s degree in music from Blue Mountain College in 1946. She taught in the West Point City School System from 1964 to 1969. She received a master’s degree in education from Mississippi State University in 1965. She went on to retire from Memphis City School System in 1983. She was the First Baptist Church choir soloist for 15 years. She sang with a quartet in West Point from 1954 to 1970. She traveled from coast to coast, also to Hong Kong and Guam. She trained in classical voice, and appreciated country music and square dancing. She made all dancing costumes.
Survivors include her husband, William Frank Dyer of Oakland; four daughters, Pamela Cook Dedeaux of Atlanta, Georgia, Judith Cook Jackson of Calera, Alabama, Keron Cook Mills of Oxford, and Martha Lynn Cook Volman of McDonough, Georgia; a son, David Curtis Cook of Dallas, Texas; a step-daughter, Charlene Jayroe Allen of Memphis, Tennessee; a step-son, Richard David Dyer of Memphis, Tennessee; a brother, Thomas Herbert Emerson, Jr. of Olive Branch; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
