Women face shoplifting charges in city court

Three defendants charged with shoplifting in Batesville stores came before Judge Bill McKenzie during Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday.

Terris C. Ellis, 38 Garrett Rd., Webb, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Burke’s Outlet. She was fined $1,120.

Tiffany L. Garner, 265 Oil Mill Rd. Apt. 8, Sumner, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting clothes from Burke’s Outlet. She was fined $1,120.

Kathy S. Andrews, 204 Fisher St., Batesville, entered a not guilty plea shoplifting food from Kroger.

A trial was set for November 4.

Initial appearances

Michael D. Newman, 211 East St., Batesville, paid his fine of $300 in full prior to court for simple assault by threat.

Annette M. Ellis, 410-A Armstrong, Batesville, was fined $339 for possession of paraphernalia.

Craig Lee Coulter, 244 Northwest St., Water Valley, entered a not guilty plea to DUI-refusal and no seatbelt.

Daryl Morgan, 107 Williams St., Batesville, had old fines of $600 that have been due since November 2007 and new fines for DUI-first.

The judge told him to have his total fines of $1,734 paid in full by November 27 or serve six months in jail.

Willie Lamar, 540-A Edwards Rd., Sardis, had a trial set for DUI-second, driving while license suspended and careless driving.

Cases set for trial

Lisa M. Powell, 208 Rollins Dr., Batesville, was found guilty of a tint violation but no fine was imposed.

Shashanna Bishop, 108 Ozbirn St., Batesville, was found guilty of domestic violence-simple assault and was fined $190.

Antionette Smith, 214 Hays St., Batesville, was found not guilty of stalking after the affiant Allison Johnson failed to appear to prosecute.

Joshua M. Cannon, 131 Vance St., Batesville, was found not guilty of stalking after the affiant Allison Johnson failed to appear to prosecute.

Tickets

Willie Sykes, 201 A Patton Lane, Batesville, was fined $193 for no proof of insurance.

She was given the lower fine after she presented proof she purchased insurance after the ticket was issued.

Shareda R. Brassell, 507 Franklin St., Sardis, was fined $760 for a red light violation and no proof of insurance.

Earica L. Fondren, 1272 Will Stewart Rd., Batesville, was fined $292 for no driver’s license.

Robert Hutchins, 50 Boniner Rd., Enid, was fined $1,159 for expired tag, no proof of insurance and driving while license suspended.

Keenan Draper, 4063 Central Academy, Sardis, was fined $593 for no proof of insurance.

Shamika Robinson, 211 Tubbs Rd. Apt. 12, Batesville, was fined $367 for driving while license suspended.

Martha F. Byers, 201 Byers Rd., Water Valley, was fined $593 for no proof of insurance.

Iesha T. Cole, 186 Lamb St., Crowder, was fined $335 for failure to yield to right of way and no proof of insurance.

Michael Carter, 3015 Sunny Man Rd., Lambert, was fined $593 for no proof of insurance.
