Monday - Friday
Panola County AA meetings will be held at the Batesville First United Methodist Church at noon daily. For more information call the North Central AA Hotline at 662-234-8585.

Thurs. - Sun.
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics  Anonymous meetings are held regularly at the Batesville Municipal Court Building on the Square from 8-9 p.m.

Mondays
Al-Anon meets every Monday at 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Tuesdays
PACE, a support group for family and friends of those suffering with mental illness, meets 5:30-7 p.m. at the Batesville Public Library. Call 563-3388 for information, or e-mail power2recover@yahoo.com.

Third Thursdays
A Social Security Administration representative will be at the Cliff Finch Building from 9 a.m. - noon on the third Thursday of every month beginning August 20. The local Social Security telephone number is 866-593-8523.

Tues., Sept. 29
United Blood Services will hold a blood drive at the First Security Bank in the training room on the main building second floor from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Volunteer blood donors must be at least 16 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors age 16 must have signed permission from parents or guardian.
On Tuesday afternoons Batesville Public Library is giving teens the use of the library’s large meeting room, where they can play games, have snacks and drinks from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. --a place where they won’t be asked to “shush.”

Wed., Sept. 30
Miss Doris at the Batesville Public Library will have Toddler’s Story Time at 10:30 a.m. She will read “Ten Red Apples.”

Sat., Oct. 3
Baptist Home Care and Hospice located at 126 Hwy. 51 N. in Batesville will be having a rummage sale from 7 a.m. until noon to help support hospice patients and volunteers.  For more information contact Julie Wright at 662-578-8402.
A rummage sale will benefit the Boys and Girls Club from 6 a.m. until noon  in the parking lot at First Security Bank’s main office. To donate usable items, call 578-7309.

Mon., Oct. 5
Friends of the Batesville Library will meet at noon at the Batesville Public Library. Jerry Gail Jones and Diane Harris Donnelly  will present a book review on “I’m Singin Again.” Bring a sack lunch and join.
Robert Henry Tubbs United Daughters of Confederates will have its monthly meeting at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m. For more information call Peggy Wright at 563-4218.

Oct. 5, 12
The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks will conduct a Hunter Education class from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. at the Panola County Extension Office in Batesville.
Students 12 and under must have an adult with them and students under 18 must have a parent sign a liability statement. The course includes 10 hours of instruction including range firing.
There are no age requirements for participation. However students must be at least 10 years old, pass a written exam and complete a firing exercise to be certified as having completed the course. For more information call 662-444-7003.

Tues., Oct. 6
A free lecture “Success is Not an Accident­—Prosperity in Today’s Society” will be given at the Batesville Public Library at 7 p.m.
College Night for South Panola High School juniors and seniors will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the school mall. Representatives from colleges and universities from around the state will attend. Parents and students are invited to attend and receive information on admissions, scholarships and financial aid.

Oct. 9-11

Sat., Oct. 10
The Crowder High School Class of 1965 will hold its 44th class reunion at Papaw’s Restaurant and steak house near North Delta School from 3 p.m. - 9 p.m. A meal will be served at 5 p.m. For more information call Dotsy Waller Guest at 326-8725.

Tues., Oct. 13
The Batesville Junior High will issue report cards to parents from 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Report cards that are not picked up by parents will be sent home with students on Wednesday.
Panola County Humane Society will meet Tuesday, at 5:15 p.m. at the Batesville Presbyterian Church.

Wed., Oct. 14
Cancer Awareness Workshop will be hosted at the South Panola School District Parent Center, with sessions at 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Topics: Human Papillomavirus (HPV), cervical, colorectal and breast cancer. Call Dianne Wiley, coordinator, at 563-6044 for more information
Participants are asked to wear pink on this day to help promote awareness of the need for a cure for cancer.
The Batesville Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at noon at the Batesville Public Library. Tena Taylor of Calhoun City will present the program on “Getting to Know Bluebirds.”
Tena is a charter member of Miss. Bluebirds and serves on the NABS Board of Directors. Hostesses will be Janet Flint, Joanna Patton, Judy Roberson and Judy Savage.

Fri., Oct. 16

Sat., Oct. 17
The Pearson-Hancock reunion will be held at the Batesville Lions Club. Bring a covered dish for the pot luck lunch. For more information call 326-4509.

Tues., Oct. 20
The American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. at the Batesville Public Library in the small conference room. All members are asked to attend. This meeting will discuss the Post’s annual fund raising drive.

Sat., Oct. 24
A Hunter Education Class will take place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Extension Building in Batesville. Call 563-6330 to pre-register. The class is free.

Sat., Oct. 31
Batesville’s Main Street program will host ‘Let’s Go Walkin’ Down Main Street,’ part of a state-wide emphasis that day. The walk will be from 9-10 a.m. Downtown. Call 563-3126 for more information.
