Mt. Zion Church of Sardis will have revival at 7 p.m. Rev. Reginald Reed and Antioch M.B. Church will be special guest. Rev. Cedrick V. Jackson is the pastor.

Sat., Aug. 22

Mt. Zion M.B. Church located on Hoskins Road will have a benefit program for Betty Benson who  has cancer. The benefit will be held at 7 p.m. and will help cover her medical expenses and travel expenses back and forth for treatments. Rev. J.N. Mobley is the pastor.

Sun., Aug. 23

Pope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church will host its annual youth day at 3 p.m. Cordella Smith, director of Batesville Job Corps  Center, will be the speaker. Rev. Nehemiah Martin is the pastor.

Antioch M.B. Church will celebrate its annual women and men’s day at 3 p.m. Rev. Bartholomew Orr, pastor of Brown Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Rev. Reginald Reed is the pastor.

New Providence M.B. Church will celebrate its 44th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Rev. W.O. McKinney, pastor of Pleasant Grove in Sardis, will be the speaker. The Pleasant Grove Church choir and the Harmoniers of Oxford will sing. Rev. Sidney Townes is the pastor.

Aug. 23 - 27

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church will have revival at 6 p.m. on Sunday and 7 p.m. each night thereafter.  The guest speaker for the week will be Pope native Rev. Larry Ware who recently moved back to the area from Fla.  Mitchell Steen is the pastor.

August 23-31

Tocowa Baptist Church will hold revival services with Reed Buntin Jr. as speaker. Sunday morning activities will begin with special music at 10 a.m., followed by morning worship at 11. A covered dish lunch is planned at noon. Evening services will be Sunday through Friday at 7 p.m. Connie Haley is the pianist. Jimmy Snider and Tommy Hudson are music leaders. Terrell McGreger is pastor.

Aug. 26-28

Ruffin Grove M.B. Church in Como will have revival at 7:30 nightly. Rev. Earnest Payne and Zion Hill Church will be the special guests. Rev. Timothy Smith is the pastor.

Eureka A.M.E. Zion Church will have revival at 7 nightly. Rev. Carl Greer, pastor of Hopewell M.B. Church in Independence, will be the evangelist. Rev. George Golden is the pastor.

Aug. 26-29

A women’s conference with the theme “The Second Coming of Christ” will be held at the House of Prayer in Sardis at 7:30 p.m.  Many guest speakers will be in attendance.

Thurs., Aug. 27

Explorer’s Bible Study will begin a new 30-lesson course entitled, “The Only True God.” Classes meet at 9 a.m. at First Baptist Church, at noon and at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. Call 563-0109 to register or for more information.

Sun., Aug. 30

New Hope M.B. Church along with several other churches will host a love day program for Rev. C.J. Battle at 3 p.m. Rev. Richard Brown is host pastor.

The First Baptist Church will have back-to-school children’s Sunday school and worship from 9 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. in the Family Life Center. Children ages four - sixth grade are invited. Lunch will be served also with entertainment “Jesus Matters” presented by “Casey” and “Pipsi,” a hobo and clown.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church Outreach Ministries will have a gospel celebration “Building the Kingdom” at 3 p.m. Elder Mickle Richmond, the pastor of East Batesville Pentecostal Church, will be the guest speaker. Rev. J.N. Mobley is the pastor.

Springhill Pope M.B. Church will have its annual choir day at 3 p.m.

New Enon M.B. Church will host “Remembering the Past, Looking to the Future” at 3 p.m. with special guest, retired Pastor Robert Tipton. New Hope M.B. Church, Harrisonville M.B. Church and Providence M.B. Church have also been invited to attend.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will have its 31st annual pastor and wife’s appreciation at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Zannie Leland, the pastor of Macedonia M.B. Church, will be the guest speaker. Rev. J.N. Mobley is the pastor.

A benefit program will be held for Ida Dickerson Saturday at Armstrong Church of God at 6 p.m. with special guests Cedric and the Kings Sisters, The Majestic Voices and more. Sunday night the benefit will be held at 6 p.m. at the Lester Hill Life Center on the Mt. Gillion Campus with special guests Daryl Pettis, Cassie Bonner of the Bonner Brothers and many more.
