Sat., July 11 Mt. Gillion Church will present a play, “Miss Cora’s Family,” directed by Dorothy Lewis, at 6 p.m. at the Batesville Intermediate School auditorium. Tickets are $3 and may be purchased at the Boys and Girls Club in Batesville. The themes of the play are wise decision-making and spiritual awareness. Family members of the Appleton, Alred, Hanks, Beaver, Brown, Haley, Whalen, Lambert, Smidley, McGehee, Cummins, Freeman, McCakill, Patrick, McNail and Scruggs families are invited to come early and stay late to meet your kin.

Tues., July 14 The Panola County Humane Society will meet at 5:15 p.m. at the Batesville Presbyterian Church. Kroger Pharmacy will hold a free Heart Healthy Clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Anyone age 18 and over may obtain free screenings for cholesterol, blood glucose, BMI and blood pressure. Participants should not eat anything after midnight on the night before the screenings for best results. Grief support group meets at 6 p.m. at Azalea Gardens in Oxford. July 20 - 31 South Panola High School’s 2009 football season tickets will be on sale for those who held season tickets last year. South Panola will host six games this season, Aug. 21, Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Oct. 16, Oct. 30 and Thurs., Nov. 5. Season tickets this year are $55 for the regular seats and $75 for the chairbacks. Ticket sales will open to the general public on August 3. To buy and pick up tickets, enter the south end of the building by the cafeteria. July 27 - 31 South Panola competitive cheerleaders will host their annual Kiddie Camp from July 27 thru July 30 at the South Panola High School gymnasium. Registration will be on Monday, July 27 from 4-5 with camp starting at 5 p.m. The camp is open to children ages 4-12. The cost of the camp is $40 per child which includes a camp t-shirt.
