Al-Anon meets every Monday at 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Thurs. thru Sun.
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics  Anonymous meetings are held regularly at the Batesville Municipal Court Building on the Square from 8-9 p.m.

Tues., June 9
The American Legion will meet at 6 p.m. at the Batesville National Guard Armory on Keating Road.  Call Charlie Overton at 563-3762 for information.
The Panola County Humane Society will meet at 5:15 at the Batesville Presbyterian Church.

The First Regional Library Puppet Players will perform “Down on the Farm” at 2:30 p.m. at the Batesville Public Library.

June 12, 13
VFW Post 4100 in Water Valley will have  bingo at 7 p.m. Saturday and entertainment by the Green Street Band on Saturday at 8 p.m.
Sat., June 13
Sardis Lake Baptist Church Youth will sponsor a car wash   10 a.m. to 2 p.m. next to Sonic in the Allstate Insurance parking lot. Call 563-4445 for information.
Black Jack Community Center will have family karaoke 6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

June 13, 14
The SPHS Class of 1972 will hold its 37 year class reunion at Western Sizzlin from 2:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. A dance will be held immediately following at Patton Lane Band Hall until midnight. Church services will be held Sunday at West Camp Church, 157 Hadorn Road in Batesville at 11 a.m.

Mon., June 15
Adult art classes with Leslie Love will be at 6 p.m. at the Batesville Public Library. Pre-registration is required.

Tues., June 16
Musical instrument craft time will be at Batesville Public Library at 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Fri., June 19
Anyone interested in signing up for the SPHS Class of 1973 37th class reunion Caribbean cruise must do so by June 19. The five day cruise will be April 19 - 23, 2010.  Any SPHS graduate or faculty member is welcome. For more information or a packet call 563-3571 or e-mail grouptravel6@yahoo.com
Batesville Junior High will have a book giveaway for students in grades 6-8 for the 2009-10 school year. Hours are 9 a.m. -3 p.m.

Kiffany Dugger is releasing a novel, “The Green Eyed Butterfly,” and will be at the Batesville Public Library from 1:30 – 3 p.m. selling and signing copies.

Fri., June 26
Gloria Norris, author and photographer of Highway 51: Mississippi Hill Country, will be at the Batesville Public Library 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. selling and signing copies.

Sat., June 27
Descendants of Julies Sanford will celebrate their 20th family reunion at Sardis Lake. Each family is asked to bring a dessert. For more information call Margaret Sanford at 563-3187 or James Sanford at 654-1881.
Ricky Swindle will announce on his Yokel Local show the winner of a Browning 270 short mag and a Ruger rifle. The proceeds will help with Blake Goodwin’s medical expenses. He was injured in an automobile accident in March. An account is also set up at Bancorp South for donations. For more information or tickets call  Wanda Hardy at 934-1320.

Children in the North Panola School District will have the opportunity to enjoy meals through the Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the North Panola School Food Service. Meals will be served free to children under 18. The program will be offered June 1-30 at Como Elementary, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.; Crenshaw Elementary, June 1- 30, 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., and at Green Hill June 1-July 31, 11:30- 1 p.m. For information call 487-2516.

Signup for the 2009 Direct and Counter-cyclical Payment (DCP) Program has been extended until August 14. FSA will not accept any late-filed applications.  Signup in the ACRE option is also available through August 14.
