Services held Wednesday for driver killed in wreck
By Billy Davis

Funeral services were held Wednesday in Lambert for a Crowder man who died in a head-on collision September 3.

Charles Raymond died in the automobile accident west of Batesville on Highway 6, near Dixie Gin. He was 34.

Raymond was driving a small pickup that included one passenger, said Mark Noland, an eyewitness to the wreck.

The passenger was transported from the scene by helicopter, said Noland, of Clarksdale.
Raymond’s pickup collided with a four-door car that was driven by a female. She was transported by ambulance from the accident scene.

Willis Frazer, also of Clarksdale, said the automobile accident occurred about 9:30 Saturday night.

“It was dark and I could barely see, and I had to swerve out of the way, to the left, to miss the two cars,” said Frazer, who was returning to Clarksdale from the Ole Miss football game.

Royal Funeral System of Clarksdale submitted an incomplete obituary for Raymond. He worked for Wright Steel in Clarksdale.

Raymond’s funeral was held at Union Baptist Church in Lambert. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery.
