Jessica Mercier and Justin Murphy are planning a May 21 wedding at Prairie Wildlife Lodge in West Point at 6 p.m.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Robert and Tina Mercier of West Point. The prospective bridegroom is the son of Bricy Weaver of Tupelo and Patrick Murphy of Kosciusko.

Grandparents of bride are Marcilene and Jimmy Stevenson of West Point, and the late Bobbie Jean Redus and late Robert H. Mercier Sr.

The groom is the grandson of  Betty and William Faulkner Sr. of Batesville and Benjamin Murphy of Kosciusko and late Vivian Murphy

The bride-elect graduated from Oak Hill Academy in 2006 and will receive a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi University for Women in May.

The prospective groom graduated from Ethel High School in 2005 and graduated from East Mississippi Community College from the basic electrical lineman program in December. He is now employed with 4-County Electric Power Association.

A reception will follow  the ceremony at Prairie Wildlife Lodge.

Friends and family are invited to attend.


Mr. and Mrs. Victor Glenn Bailey of Batesville, formerly of Lambert, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Eleanor Victoria to Jason Lee Nabors, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Roy Nabors of New Albany.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Rosa Herring Maxcy and the late Mr. William Edward Maxcy of Enid, formerly of Lambert, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Fred Claytor Bailey of Lambert.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Johnson of Pontotoc, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Noah Oscar Nabors of Rosebloom.

A member of the hall of fame and a 2003 honor graduate of North Delta School, Miss Bailey is also a 2007 honor graduate of Mississippi State University, where she studied business administration. While at MSU, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and she served as a member of the Panhellenic Executive Council.  Miss Bailey also received a juris doctorate from Mississippi College School of Law in 2010.

The prospective groom is a 1997 graduate of Mantachie High School and a 2001 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Mississippi, where he studied political science.  Mr. Nabors received a juris doctorate, magna cum laude, in 2004 from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as a member of the Mississippi Law Journal and Phi Kappa Phi.  Mr. Nabors is employed as an attorney at Smith Phillips Mitchell Scott and Nowak, in Batesville.

The couple will exchange vows on July 16 at 6 p.m. at Pope Baptist Church with a reception following at Court Street Catering in Batesville.  

Carter-Miskel vows to be said

Megan Elizabeth Carter and Justin Miskel will be married in a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday at Como United Methodist Church.

Miss Carter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Carter of Water Valley.  Mr. Miskel is the son of  Terrye and Tolly Perry and the late Nello Miskel of Hartford, Ky.

A reception will follow at the home of Mike and Brenda Campbell.

Family and friends are invited.
