A Children’s Book and DVD Drive is being conducted by the Provisional Class of the Junior Auxiliary of Batesville. New or gently used books or DVDs can be dropped off at Batesville Elementary School, Batesville Intermediate School, Pope School, North Delta School, Guaranty Bank, Ray Poole State Farm, First Security Bank and Renasant Bank.

VFW Post 4100 will have bingo at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Road House Band will perform on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Members of the North Panola Vocational High School, Class of 1970, are making final plans for their upcoming 40 Year Reunion. Classmates are asked to meet on Saturday, February 6 at noon in the Sardis Library.

The Batesville Garden Club will meet at noon at the Batesville Public Library. Guest speaker will be Debby Cooper of Greenwood. She is an NGC Accredited Flower Show Judge and first vice president of the Miss. Flower Show Judges’ Council. Hostesses will be Robbie Knotts, Peggy Mangrum, and Nancy Baker.
Batesville Woman’s Club will meet at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on February 10 at 2 p.m. Wear something red in recognition of Heart Month.

A traveling exhibit telling the stories of German POWs held in camps all over the U.S. during WWII will be at the Batesville Public Library from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. For more information call Jennifer Hall 563-1038.
Are you tired of the commercialism of Valentine’s Day? If you’re age 12-18, grab your friends and come to the Batesville Public Library’s first annual Anti-Valentine’s Day Party! Doesn’t matter if you’ve got a boyfriend or girlfriend or if you’re single. You can celebrate no matter what. Events include: make your own Anti-Valentine’s Day Cards, decorate broken heart cookies, Anti-Valentine’s bingo and other contests! Hours are 6:30 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration is required. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Arkabutla Lake will host its annual Youth Raccoon Hunts. Only two parties will be allowed to hunt per night. The hunt will be administered by both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Arkabutla Raccoon Hunting Association.
Applications must be received at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office by 3 p.m., Monday, January 25 to be eligible for the drawing. For an application or more information on the hunt, contact Coleman Pullen at (662) 562-6261, or stop by the Arkabutla Lake Field Office.

A Diabetic Support Group will meet in the annex at the Batesville Church of Christ at 2 p.m. The group is sponsored by the University of Mississippi’s “Eating Good and Moving Like We Should” program. Pre-School registration will be held at Batesville Elementary School from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The child must be four years old on or before September 1. Items needed to register include: certified birth certificate, immunization compliance form 121 (Health Department), social security card, two proofs of residency, proof of insurance and proof of income for 2009.

Prom Closet, a project of the Junior Auxiliary of Batesville, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both Saturdays in the Media Room at South Panola High School.
