Monday - Friday
Panola County Alcoholics Anonymous meetings will be held at the Batesville First United Methodist Church at noon daily. For more information call the North Central AA Hotline at 662-234-8585.

Thurs. - Sun.
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics  Anonymous meetings are held regularly at the Batesville Municipal Court Building on the Square from 8-9 p.m.

Mondays
Al-Anon meets every Monday at 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Tuesdays                                                                                          
On Tuesday afternoons Batesville Public Library is giving teens the use of the library’s large meeting room, where they can play games, have snacks and drinks from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
PACE, a support group for family and friends of those suffering with mental illness, meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Batesville Church of Christ. Call 563-3388 for information, or e-mail power2recover@yahoo.com.

Third Thursdays
A Social Security Administration representative will be at the Cliff Finch Building from 9 a.m. - noon. The local Social Security telephone number is 866-593-8523.

Saturdays
Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks for its Youth Outdoors Outreach Program will have classes and serve youth ages 10-18 with hands-on conservation education, and basic skills, techniques and responsibilities of hunting and fishing. Tues., Jan. 26
The Batesville Public Library will have guest David Brown, creator of First Regional Library’s INFO Family at 2 p.m. for ages 12 and up. Come have fun creating your own cartoon characters: superheroes, action heroes, funny characters. Learn some basic cartooning tips. Sign-up at the circulation desk.

Thurs., Jan. 28
JP Hudson Ballpark will have its general meeting at 6:30 p.m. at TVEPA. Sign up will be February 6 and 13 at TVEPA from 9 a.m. - 1p.m. both days. For more information call David Durham at 561-2841.

Jan. 28-30
The District Livestock Show will be held at the Batesville Civic Center. The dairy goat show will be Thursday, beginning at 2 p.m. The market lamb and market goat show will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday. The market hog show will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday. The market steer show will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the commercial heifer show and the beef breeding show. Friday, Jan. 29
Fifth Friday Family Flicks will be presented at 6 p.m. at the Batesville Public Library. A family-friendly film will be shown. Families are encouraged to attend this event together, and are allowed to bring snacks and drinks (children under age 16 are not allowed to stay without an accompanying adult).

Sat, Jan. 30
Marks native Leigh Ryan Lansing will host a book signing at the Quitman County Library in Marks from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Leigh Ryan Lansing is the pen name of Lisa Lee Meeks Purser, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin L. Meeks of Marks. She is the author of two novels with Mississippi settings.

Mon., February 1
Batesville Friends of the Library will meet at noon at the public library. J. Boyd Ingram will present a program on precious metals. Bring a sack lunch and enjoy the meeting.
Robert Henry Tubbs United Daughters of Confederates will meet at the Batesville Public Library at 5:30 p.m. For more information call Peggy Wright at 563-4218.
Captain C.B. Vance camp 1669 Sons of Confederates will hold a monthly meeting at the Batesville Public Library at 7 p.m. For more information call Commander Donald Wright Jr. at 934-6211.

Thurs, February 4
Batesville Jr. High School will hold its monthly School-Community meeting at 5 p.m. at the BJHS library.  All interested parents and community members are invited to attend.

Wed., Feb. 10
The Batesville Garden Club will meet at noon at the Batesville Public Library. Guest speaker will be Debby Cooper of Greenwood. She is an NGC Accredited Flower Show Judge and first vice president of the Miss. Flower Show Judges’ Council. Hostesses will be Robbie Knotts, Peggy Mangrum, and Nancy Baker.

Thurs., Feb. 11,
Are you tired of the commercialism of Valentine’s Day? If you’re age 12-18, grab your friends and come to the Batesville Public Library’s first annual Anti-Valentine’s Day Party! Doesn’t matter if you’ve got a boyfriend or girlfriend or if you’re single. You can celebrate no matter what. Events include: make your own Anti-Valentine’s Day Cards, decorate broken heart cookies, Anti-Valentine’s bingo and other contests! Hours are 6:30 to 8 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Feb. 12, 13, 19, 20 and 26, 27
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Arkabutla Lake will host its annual Youth Raccoon Hunts. Only two parties will be allowed to hunt per night.  The hunt will be administered by both the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Arkabutla Raccoon Hunting Association. 
Applications must be received at the Arkabutla Lake Field Office by 3 p.m., Monday, January 25 to be eligible for the drawing.    For an application or more information on the hunt, contact Coleman Pullen at (662) 562-6261, or stop by the Arkabutla Lake Field Office.

Fri., Feb. 12
The Panola County Community Foundation will sponsor a Valentine’s Dance at the Eureka at 7 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at The Panolian, Panola Partnership or Pride Hyundai. The Lighthorse Harry Band will play.

Sat., Feb. 13
A Valentine’s party will be held at the Batesville Lion’s Club at 8 p.m. featuring the band Roadhouse. For more information call 563-4689 or 934-3356.

Feb. 20 and 27
Prom Closet, a project of the Junior Auxiliary of Batesville, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. both Saturdays in the Media Roon at South Panola High School. 
Girls may choose a dress for their upcoming prom. Gently used prom dresses  and accessories are being collected now by the JA. Call 578-5433 to donate.

Sat., March 6
The Junior Auxiliary of Batesville will hold the 2010 Charity Ball at 7 p.m. at the Panola Country Club. Call for tickets: 578-9352.

Sat., April 3
The Annual Sardis Spring Fest & Open Car Show will be held on Main St. and is sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce and the Mississippi Delta Street Rodders.
