Failure to pay lands man in jail

During Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday, Judge Jay Westfaul sentenced a man to 90 days in jail after failing to pay his old fines.

Kenneth Robinzine, 206 Draper, Batesville, was ordered on July 30, 2008, to have his old fines of $1,369 paid in full by August 6, 2008.

He returned to court and told the judge he did not have the full amount.

Westfaul told him if he paid his fines in full he could be released from jail.

Initial appearance

James Stevens, 150 MLK No. 12, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to possession of paraphernalia. He was fined #339.

Rondre Tyson, 1712 Access Rd., Oxford, had a a case continued for abusing members of police and disorderly conduct-failure to comply.

Earl Butler, 2788 Ruby Rd., Courtland, entered a guilty plea to possession of marijuana in a vehicle, false information, no driver’s license, disregard for traffic device and expired tag.

Jessica Darby, 1465 King Rd., Sardis, failed to appear to answer a shoplifting charge.

Alright Bonding Company was notified.

Demichael Norwood, 107 Magnolia, Sardis, failed to appear for the second time for shoplifting. A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Demetrious Williams, 2395 Nash Rd., Batesville, failed to appear for the third time for DUI-first, speeding and no driver’s license.

A warrant was issued for his arrest.

Trevino Faustino Jr., 144 Hemlock, Batesville, entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault. He was fined $390.

Rodney Warner, 150 MLK, Batesville, paid his old fines of $526 in full prior to court.

Cases set for trial

Eric Ingram Jr., 900 Brittany, Oxford, paid his fine of $94 prior to his trial for firelane parking.

Cory Vaughn, 112 Williams St., Batesville, had a case for disorderly conduct-failure to comply continued.

Terran Shegog, 54 Audrey Rd., Courtland, was found guilty for DUI-refusal, driving while license suspended and disregard for a police officer.

He had a no proof of insurance ticket dismissed.

Officer Dalton told the judge he was trying to direct traffic on Hwy. 35 due to the   road work.

Dalton said he was trying to stop Shegog as other traffic tried to pass, but Shegog almost hit me.

“I asked him if he didn’t see me and that’s when I smelled alcohol,” he said.

Dalton said he then called for backup to help with the traffic and that’s when he initialized a field sobriety test that Shegog failed.

Dalton said Shegog refused the intoxilizer test at the station.

The judge cause to find him guilty.

Joseph Kaufman, 222 Dogwood Lane, Batesville, had a DUI-refusal charge amended to a common law DUI after an agreement between Attorney Jeff Padgett and the city’s prosecuting attorney Bob Morris.

Kaufman had a speeding charge dismissed and was given the lower DUI fine of $250.

Vernon T. Hughes, 122 Westover, Clarksdale, was represented by Attorney R. Lewis and had a DUI-refusal and careless driving case continued for six months.

Richard Weiss, 47 Delta Ave., Clarksdale, was also represented by Attorney R. Lewis and had a DUI-refusal and careless driving case continued for six months.

Tianna D. Brown, 155 MLK Dr. Apt. 9, Batesville, was fined $367 for driving while license suspended.

Courtney Pride, 209 Claude St., Batesville, was fined $367 for driving while license suspended.

Brandon Brewer, 242 Main St., Courtland, was fined $152 for careless driving.

Lisa C. Ware, 534 Joe Kyle Rd., Marks, was fined $367 for improper equipment and driving while license suspended.

Debra Green, 404 Lincoln St., Sardis, entered a not guilty plea to switched tag and driving while license suspended.

whats a dui ameneded and dui continued for six months that sounds very fishy need yo find out whats going on no cover up 1031.00 fine in a week not to many people in panola co. could come up with that kind of money

where did westfall come from was he voted in never knew he was a judge and been living in panola co for 20 yrs sounds like he s a real winner/ weasle more like it

Mr. Shegog You almost HAVE to get a lawyer in today's times. They need money and will take the cops word over yours every single time without the lawyer a defending you.. The whole thing is a money racket if you ask me.
