Monday - Friday
Panola County Alcoholics Anonymous meetings will be held at the Batesville First United Methodist Church at noon daily. For more information call the North Central AA Hotline at 662-234-8585.

Thurs. - Sun.
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics  Anonymous meetings are held regularly at the Batesville Municipal Court Building on the Square from 8-9 p.m.

Mondays
Al-Anon meets every Monday at 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Tuesdays                                                                                           
On Tuesday afternoons Batesville Public Library is giving teens the use of the library’s large meeting room, where they can play games, have snacks and drinks from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
PACE, a support group for family and friends of those suffering with mental illness, meets at 5:30 p.m. at the Batesville Church of Christ. Call 563-3388 for information, or e-mail power2recover@yahoo.com.

Third Thursdays
A Social Security Administration representative will be at the Cliff Finch Building from 9 a.m. - noon. The local Social Security telephone number is 866-593-8523.

Every Thursday
Red One Rook games are held at the Cossar State Park Visitor Center beginning at 6 p.m. Call 662-623-7356 for information.

Fri., Dec. 4
The Northwest Mississippi Community College Les Fauves Art Club will   hold its annual holiday art sale from 8:30 a.m.- 3:30   p.m. in the Art Gallery on the Senatobia campus.

Dec. 4, 5
VFW of Water Valley will have bingo on Friday at 7 p.m. and the Road House Band on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Sat., Dec. 5
The annual Oakland  Christmas Open House will begin at 2 p.m. with a short Christmas program at Oakland Methodist Church. An exhibition by local artists will be hosted by Oakland Presbyterian Church. The tour of homes will include the Herron House and the Fraiser Home. There’s no admission fee, but donations to the Presbyterian Chapel will be accepted. Call 623-0056 for information.
A car, truck and motorcycle jamboree will be held at the Veterans Building in Oxford with registration beginning at 9 a.m. All proceeds benefit Veterans Memorial Park. For more information call Gerald Belvin at 662-236-5935.
Christmas in Como, an annual celebration that kicks off the holiday season, will be held on Como’s Main Street from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., with musical entertainment inside and outside Main Street’s churches and buildings.

Coles Point Fire Department will sponsor a spaghetti dinner beginning at 5 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 10 and under. Kids under age 2 eat free. There will be an auction at 7 p.m. Call 609-2240 for information.

Sun., Dec. 6
The Batesville Garden Club will present its  Christmas Tour with three homes, a business and a church on display. Tickets, $10, are available at the door at each stop. Guests may tour in any order they choose. Hours are 1-5 p.m.
On the tour will be the homes of Mark Heafner, Bill and Renelda Burnett, and Stan and Melissa Sullivant, along with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and the law offices of Charlie Baglan. Call 563-4434 for information.

Mon., Dec. 7
The South Panola High School Band will present a Fall Concert in the Batesville Jr. High auditorium at 6:30 p.m. The Symphonic Band, conducted by Linda Davis, as well as the Concert Band, conducted by Lee Moyer, will be featured and will play selected Christmas literature as well as other concert band music. The South Panola High Percussion Ensemble will also play.
Panola County 4-H will be hosting a “Meet the Instructors” meeting at 6 p.m. at the Panola County Extension Building on Highway 51 South. This meeting is for youth ages 8 to 18 interested in participating in the 4-H Shooting Sports Program.
Four new and two returning instructors will be offering lessons in archery, rifle, shotgun, and pistol disciplines this 4-H year. Parents and those interested in volunteering to help this program are encouraged to attend. Call Ginger Rodgers at 563-6260 if you have any questions.
The Batesville Friends of the Library will meet at noon at the Batesville Public Library for their yearly Christmas Pot Luck Meal. Each member should bring a covered dish.
The “Ring Lady” is returning to Tri-Lakes Medical Center. Jewelry will be offered in the lobby from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in a fund-raiser for the Hospital Auxiliary.
Secret Santa volunteers will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Sardis Presbyterian Church. Anyone interested in helping this organization provide Christmas gifts for needy Panola County children is encouraged to attend.
Tues., Dec. 8
The Batesville Christmas Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and proceed through Downtown. The theme is “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
The rain date is Sunday, Dec. 13. The Batesville Lions Club, sponsor of the parade, encourages civic and church groups to participate. Call 563-4689 or 934-3356 for information.
Glen Stripling of Pearl, Miss., author of “Chronosia” (science fiction/murder mystery) will be at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m.

Wed., Dec. 9
Batesville Woman’s Club meeting will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 2 p.m.  Artist Ivy Ann Gerard of Como will give the program. Music will be provided by Batesville Intermediate School Show Choir under the direction of Kay McDuffie.   Donations of cake mix or frosting will go to Panola Food Pantry.
Batesville Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at noon at the home of Robbie Knotts. Carol Bullard will present the program on “Alternative Holiday Plants and Flowers.” Carol is a past president of Batesville Garden Club and The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc. She is a Master Flower Show Judge.
Thurs., Dec. 10
The Town of Crenshaw will have its Christmas parade at 6 p.m. Line up time is 5 p.m. on East South Avenue. Registration forms are at City Hall. Pick up or call 662-382-5234.

Sat., Dec. 12
The Junior Auxiliary of Batesville will hold a food drive at Batesville Piggly Wiggly, 8 a.m. - noon, to benefit families in need that the organization is serving through its Adopt a Family /Child Welfare program. Sun., Dec. 13
The Heflin House Museum Christmas Tea and Holiday Tour of Homes i 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.  Advance tickets can be purchased at First Security Bank in Sardis, Kay’s Gifts in Batesville or at the Heflin House that day, the cost is $10. Refreshments will be served at the Heflin House.

Mon., Dec. 14
Habitat for Humanity will have a meet and greet at the Batesville Public Library to inform the public about the desires and efforts of this organization.
There will be refreshments provided and informational videos presented. Meeting will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Curtis Locke Station Fire Department will have its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Tues., Dec. 15
The Batesville Ladies Civitan Club will have a “Happy Birthday Jesus Party” along with their regular meeting. The club meets every first and third Tuesday night of the month at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in the club call Libbi Mauldin at 662-392-6601 or come to one of the Tuesday meetings at the Civitan Building on Panola Avenue.

Sat., Jan. 2
A wrestling show benefit will be held at the Eureka with doors opening at 6 p.m. The benefit will help with medical expenses for cancer patients Sharon Martindale and Jimmy Boucher.
