Monday - Friday
Panola County AA meetings will be held at the Batesville First United Methodist Church at noon daily. For more information call the North Central AA Hotline at 662-234-8585.

Thurs. - Sun.
Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics  Anonymous meetings are held regularly at the Batesville Municipal Court Building on the Square from 8-9 p.m.

Mondays
Al-Anon meets every Monday at 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Batesville.

Tuesdays                                                                                           
On Tuesday afternoons Batesville Public Library is giving teens the use of the library’s large meeting room, where they can play games, have snacks and drinks from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. --a place where they won’t be asked to “shush.”

Applications for families seeking help through the Panola County Secret Santa Project are available at public libraries in Batesville, Sardis, Como and Crenshaw. Applications should be filled out and left at the libraries.

Nov. 13, 14
VFW of Water Valley will have bingo Friday at 7 p.m. and the Rollin Thunder Band from 8 p.m. - Midnight on Saturday.

Sat., Nov. 14
Boys 2 Men United will sponsor a community march at 10 a.m., starting at the Batesville Square and moving to the Church of God on Armstrong Street. The event will promote strong male leadership in the home and community, with the theme, “Taking Back Our Families,” according to organizer Earl Jones Jr. For more information contact Jones at 934-0986.
Black Jack Community Center will have a Harvest Dinner at 6 p.m. Bring a dish.

Tues., Nov. 17
American Legion will meet in the conference room at the Batesville Public Library at 6 p.m. Members will discuss a fund-raising project.

Sat., Nov. 21
Thanksgiving bake sale will be sponsored by the  Batesville Woman’s Club outside the Kroger store from 7 a.m. until noon. Featured will be homemade bread, pies, cakes, cookies, and candy, Christmas decorations and one-of-a-kind earrings.

 Nov. 20-21
The Heflin House Museum’s Christmas Bazaar will feature baked goods, crafts, gift items and jewelry. The event opens at 10 a.m.  Lunch will be served from 11:30 to 1 p.m.  Cost for lunch is $8.  The Heflin House Museum is located at 304 South Main Street in Sardis. North Delta School will present its annual Christmas Bazaar and program. The bazaar will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The program will be at 6 p.m.
Panola County 4-H will sponsor “Kids In the Kitchen” on from 3:30 to 5 p.m.  This workshop will be an “Ornament Decorating Workshop” and will be held at the Extension Building on Hwy 51 South in Batesville. Sally Hunt will lead the workshop. “Kids In the Kitchen” is open to all youth ages 8 to 18. Call 563-6260 or 487-2085 for more information.

Sat., Dec. 5
The annual Oakland  Christmas Open House will begin at 2 p.m. with a short Christmas program at Oakland Methodist Church. An exhibition by local artists will be hosted by Oakland Presbyterian Church. The tour of homes will include the Herron House and the Fraiser Home. There’s no admission fee, but donations to the Presbyterian Chapel will be accepted. Call 623-0056 for information.
Christmas in Como, a Musical Medley, 2009.” This 5th annual celebration on Como’s Main Street boasts more free music than ever. from 3 p.m. till around 6 p.m. It features children’s choruses from Como and Batesville, an organist, a jazz pianist, a fife & drum band, several bagpipers, the NWCC steel drum band, carolers singing round the town Christmas tree, and other pro and amateur musicians performing inside and outside Main Street’s churches and buildings.  Come enjoy “Pictures with Santa,” free popcorn, a chili cook-off, a children’s art contest, bargain Christmas-gift shop for kids, and a raffle of fine items.

Sun., Dec. 6
The Batesville Garden Club will present its  Christmas Tour with three homes, a business and a church on display. Tickets, $10, are available at the door at each stop. Guests may tour in any order they choose.
On the tour will be the homes of Mark Heafner, Bill and Renelda Burnett, and Stan and Melissa Sullivant, along with St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and the law offices of Charlie Baglan. Call 563-4434 for information.

Tues., Dec. 8
The Batesville Christmas Parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and proceed through Downtown. The theme is “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”
The rain date is Sunday, Dec. 13. The Batesville Lions Club, sponsor of the parade, encourages civic and church groups to participate. Call 563-4689 or 934-3356 for information.

Tues., Dec. 10
The Town of Crenshaw will have its Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. Line up time is 5 p.m. on East South Avenue. Registration forms are at City Hall. Pick up or call 662-382-5234.

Sun., Dec. 13
Heflin House Museum’s Christmas Tea and Tour of Homes will be 1:30 to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the Heflin House Museum. Five homes are included in the tour.  Refreshments will be served at the Heflin House.
