11/10/2009

The long-awaited installation of new lighting along the Highway 6 East entrance into Batesville began last Thursday as TVEPA workers erected the new light poles in the median. TVEPA employees (from left) Royce Williams, Justin Palmertree and Adam Boyle secure the pole while onlookers include former City Clerk Judy Savage, MDOT District Engineer Richard Allen, Mayor Jerry Autrey, TVEPA employee Randy Wardlaw and Alderman Stan Harrison. Construction zone... politicians and fellow gawkers in the construction zone while wearing no safety gear... an accident and lawsuits lurking in the wings. Sheesh! What? The view from across the street wasn't good enough?

I miss the trees, but love the lights too. I hope the light poles will be able to hang flags on them.
