Commissioner announces satellite office in Panola

By Billy Davis
Panola County is among 33 North Mississippi counties that will be served by a part-time satellite office of the Mississippi Public Service Commission.

The Panola office will operate from the county courthouse in Batesville. It will be open two hours, from 9 am. - 11 a.m., on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

All other Public Service Commission (PSC) offices will operate similarly.

Northern District Commissioner Brandon Presley announced the satellite offices this week.

Mississippi’s PSC oversees utility services – water, sewer, gas, telecommunications, and electricity. The commission also enforces the state’s No Call Program for telephone solicitations.

Because of its oversight, the PSC often fields customers’ questions and complaints from across the state.

Presley also brought the “Zap the Gap” program to Mississippi, which works to improve cellular phone coverage in the Northern District. Complaints of poor coverage can be forwarded to Presley’s office.

The satellite offices will allow customers to talk to Presley or a staff member “about utility issues they need help resolving,” Presley stated in a press release.

“I believe these satellite office hours will help bring the PSC to the people,” he said.
The PSC can also be reached by phone at 1-800-637-7722 or at 1-800-356-6428.
