Snow in March?
On March 21-22, 1968 a snowstorm blew into North Mississippi with accumulations up to umpteen inches according to those who survived to exaggerate the story. Question is: Do you think we will experience snowfall with accumulation this March?


 

Vick-Basinger

 
Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Vick of Pope announce the engagement of their daughter, Shannon Nicole Vick, to Andrew Thomas Basinger, son of Van and Deborah Basinger of Muscle Shoals, Ala.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bradley of Batesville and Conner Vick and the late Ernestine Vick of Pope.

The prospective groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gaston Swords of New Albany and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blackstock and the late Elmer Basinger of Columbus.

The bride-elect graduated from South Panola High School. She attends the University of Mississippi.

The prospective groom graduated from Muscle Shoals High School.

He attends the University of Mississippi where he studies philosophy and music.

He is employed by Union West Baptist Church as a music minister.

The wedding is to take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 13 at Union West Baptist Church.

Following the wedding a reception will follow at Union West Baptist Church.

Family and friends are invited.

 Scott-Pratt


Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Scott announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachael Ann Scott, to Jonathan Lee Pratt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Joe Pratt, Jr. of Hernando.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Shirley Hall of Horn Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Bollinger of Nesbit, the late Mary Ann Scott of Byhalia and Danny P. Scott of Chipley, Florida.

 She is a graduate of the Northwest Mississippi Home Educators Association. Miss Scott attended Northwest Mississippi Community College where she was in Les Fauves (NWCC art club), president of the Science Club and vice-president of Mu Alpha Theta (honor mathematics club). She is currently on full scholarship to Mississippi State University where she is majoring in microbiology and pharmacy.

 The prospective groom is the grandson of the Larry Joe Pratt Sr. and the late Betty Pratt of Batesville, and the late Louis Moffatt and Mrs. Sylvia Moffatt of Southaven.

A graduate of North Delta School, Mr. Pratt attended Northwest Mississippi Community College where he was a member of Mu Alpha Theta (honor mathematics club),  Chess Club and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He is currently attending Mississippi State University where he is majoring in mathematics.

The couple will exchange vows Saturday, January 3, at Calvary Baptist Church in Batesville. The reception will be held at 211 Main Hall and Gardens in Como.
