Services for Jennifer Barefoot will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Church of God on Main Street in Charleston. Visitation will be held today 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the church.

deYampert “Dee” Brame Garner

BATESVILLE––deYampert Brame “Dee” Garner, 46, passed away Sunday, August 7, 2016, at his home in Batesville.
Funeral services for Dee will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 12, 2016, at Batesville First United Methodist Church. The family had visitation Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home.
Dee was born May 28, 1970 to Ernest Levi Garner, Jr. and Elizabeth Brame Byrd in Panola County, MS. Dee was the Corporate Manager for On Call Staffing in Batesville and a member of Batesville First United Methodist Church. Dee was a loving father. He loved his family and friends above all else. He had many special interests in life. Dee enjoyed hunting, going to the lake, riding motorcycles and raising bullmastiffs. Dee loved sports and the Ole Miss Rebels.
Dee is preceded in death by his grandparents; Ernest Levi Garner, Sr., Helen Ferrell Garner and Julius deYampert Brame.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife; Catherine Parr Garner of Batesville, his daughter; Sloan Elle Garner of Batesville, 2 sons; deYampert Brame Garner, II and Mickinley Carter Garner both of Batesville, his mother; Elizabeth Brame Byrd (Ellis) of Batesville, his father; Ernest Levi Garner, Jr. of Batesville, his brother; Ernest Levi Garner III (Beth) of Batesville, his sister; Ann Whitten “Whit” Bright (Shane) of Nesbit, and his grandmother; Ann Whitten Brame of Batesville. 

Pauline McLellan Horne

DARLING––Pauline McLellan Horne, 92, retired postal service employee, died August 4, 2016, in Greenwood.
Graveside services were held August 6 at Seneasha Cemetery in Attala County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Horne; son, Milton Dale Horne and one daughter, Wanda Martin.
Survivors include: son, Joe Horne Jr. (Shera) of Pope; daughter, Faye (Terry) Mills of Darling; eight grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Mary Frances Meriwether Irby

Mary Frances Meriwether Irby, originally of Hernando and later of Senatobia, passed away at the Senatobia Health and Rehabilitation Center on August 8, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday August 14, at Senatobia Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time at the church. Ray-Nowell Funeral Home has charge.
She was born August 22, 1924 in Hernando, to Americus Payne and Anna Meriwether. She graduated from Hernando High School in 1942 and attended Mississippi State College for Women where she was a member of Rogues. She married Lt. Van Leonard Irby, also of Hernando, in 1943.
She was preceded in death by: brothers, Gerald W. Chatham, Donald Chatham, A.P. Meriwether and sister, Barbara Meriwether Summers.
Her husband, Van of 60 years, passed away in February 2003.
She is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Bob Thompson of Senatobia, daughter, Vikki Irby Damoth of Southaven, and son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Jill Irby of Taipei, Taiwan.
 Mary’s eldest son, Van L. Irby, Jr., passed away in February, 2015.
She is survived by six grandchildren; Victor Hart of Holmen, Robert W. Moore of Dallas, Ga., Cecil Andrew Thompson of Nashville, Van Hardy Thompson of Oxford, Jennifer Beavers Windsor-Cummings of Memphis and Eric Ellis Beavers of Nesbit.
Survivors also include: her eight great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Hannah and Tori Hart, Tanner, Peyton, Lainey and Brodie Moore and Elizabeth Beavers.
Mary and her husband spent 28 years of their married life in the service of the U.S. Army and traveled the world with their four children. Upon retiring from the military in 1970, they enjoyed returning to family and old friends in the small Mississippi town of Sledge. Mary and Van were members of the Sardis Presbyterian Church and later Mary became a member of the Senatobia Presbyterian Church. Mary was an active member of the Senatobia Cosmopolitan Club, Heflin House of Sardis, Daughters of the American Revolution (James Gilliam Chapter), Sycamore Arts and the Meriwether Society. Mary will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Clara McMinn Ferrell

Services for Clara McMinn Ferrell, 75,  will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Dickins Funeral Home with visitation preceding the service at 10 a.m.
She died Thursday, August 11 at Baptist Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. Interment will be held at Good Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include two children, Susan Ferrell Evans and Rob Ferrell.

Walter Tubbs Hudson

Dr. Walter Tubbs Hudson, 77,  passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at Merit Health Hospital in Batesville.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Batesville. Presiding were Bro. Tommy Mahan, Dr. David Ball, and Dr. Tommy Snyder. Interment was in Batesville Magnolia Cemetery.
Dr. Hudson was a retired Veterinarian, who graduated from Mississippi State University and received his D.V.M. from Auburn University. While at Auburn, he served as President of Alpha Psi Fraternity.
He served an internship in Florence, AL and Wichita Falls, Texas.
He served as deacon and Sunday School teacher at First Baptist Church and served as pastor of Eastern Gate Church. He also taught Sunday school classes at Fairfield and at the Veteran’s Home in Oxford.
He conducted weekly jail ministry at Panola County Jail for the past 20 years. He was a former member of the Rotary Club and a Gideon.
He was owner of numerous businesses involving buying, selling, and breeding cattle and Quarter Horses and he also owned a Western Store and a used car lot.
He enjoyed buying and selling, watching his grandchildren play sports, and most importantly, witnessing to others about the saving grace of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dr. Hudson is survived by his wife of 50 years, Norma Goforth Hudson, his son, Walter Heath Hudson (Teri) and their sons Walter Hays and Hunter Thomas, and his daughter Holly Hays Hudson Roberson (Clint) and their children: Reef Hudson Roberson and Ashley Savannah Roberson.

Billy McNeer

COMO––Billy McNeer, 74, a retired salesman at Wade, Inc., died August 8, 2016, at his home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 11, at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale, with burial in the Memorial Gardens. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, had charge of arrangements.
He served in the National Guard and was a member of Harmontown Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents Dollon and Carrie Moody McNeer and brothers James McNeer and Leon McNeer.
 Survivors include: his wife of 51 years, Patricia Boyett McNeer of Como; sons Will McNeer (Stephanie) of Hernando, and Robbie McNeer (Melody) of Daphne, AL; brother Jo McNeer of Oxford; sisters Elizabeth Smith of Benoit, Bobbette Campbell of Arkabutla, Nellie Russell of Memphis, Sue Phillips of Huntsville, Ala., Reba Easley of Pontotoc, Mary Russell of Oxford and Bonnie Godin of Pontotoc; and his grandchildren, Alaken McNeer, Sy McNeer and Braxton McNeer.
