Evidence gathered during the investigation of the shooting of three people at Pope shortly after 3 p.m. Monday will be presented to a Panola County Grand Jury, Sheriff Dennis Darby said.
Investigators interviewed Jim Barefoot at the Med Wednesday, he said. The shooting left Barefoot wounded, Barefoot’s wife, Jennifer Hargett Barefoot, dead, and his sister, Vikki Barefoot Holland, also wounded from gunshots.

Darby said the investigation indicated that an altercation that apparently originated with Facebook postings brought Jim and Jennifer Barefoot to confront Vikki Barefoot Holland at her home on Hentz Road between I-55 and Highway 51.

They found her at a shed behind the home where the shootings occurred.

Panola County Coroner Gracie Gulledge declared Jennifer Barefoot, 36, dead at the scene. Jim Barefoot and Vikki Holland were transported by helicopter to the Med.

Holland was released to her private doctor Tuesday for treatment.

Jim Barefoot remained hospitalized for surgery to remove several bullets lodged in his body, Darby said. He was scheduled for surgery on Thursday and faces “a lot of surgeries ahead,” he said.

Services for Jennifer Hargett Barefoot will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God on Main Street in Charleston with visitation from 5 to 8 p.m. this afternoon at the church. Newsom Funeral Home of Charleston has charge.
