Sardis firefighters and officials inspected the new Toyne pumper recently delivered to the Town of Sardis purchased with city, county and state funding in the amount of $274,292. Fire truck delivered in Sardis

Sardis Aldermen voted Thursday to pay $274,292.53 for a fire truck delivered and tested following the special called meeting last Thursday morning.
Aldermen also voted to purchase three pieces of equipment for the public works department and hired a policeman to fill a recently vacated slot upon the recommendation of Police Chief Chris Martin.
The new yellow pumper is being purchased with $100,000 contribution from Panola County, a $70,000 state grant with the remainder being financed through the Mississippi Development Authority.
Sardis public works director Bubba McDowell received permission to purchase two shed type buildings, one for the city shop and the other to go over a new lift station near Greenhill Subdivision in the amount of $4,214 and $2,727 respectively. The quotes accepted were from Batesville Quality Carpets.
McDowell’s request to accept a quote of $5,500 for  a 50” three-blade brushcutter from  H & E Equipment of Memphis was also approved during Thursday’s meeting.
The Sardis board meets again today, Tuesday, May 3 for the regular monthly meeting.
