Ethan Scott Bright

Ethan Scott Bright, 25, died Saturday, February 6, 2016 in Memphis.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will immediately follow the service at Good Hope Cemetery. Reverend Brian Robertson will officiate the services. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Bright, born January 4, 1991, to Kenneth and Joan Winnett Bright, in Oxford, was a 2009 graduate of South Panola High School. Upon graduation he went on to play baseball for Northwest Mississippi Community College, as well as Hinds Community College and Jackson State University where he graduated in 2014. He was a former P. E. teacher for Senatobia Schools as well as the assistant high school softball coach. This past year he worked in construction. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada.
Survivors along with his parents include: his wife,  Beth Mann Bright of Grenada; one daughter, Denley Elizabeth Bright of Grenada; two sisters Emily Bright of Batesville and Rachel Bright of Memphis; two brothers Josh Bright (Sandra Lynn) of Batesville and Shane Bright (Whit) of Nesbit.

Ruby Earline Gaines

BATESVILLE––Ruby Earline Gaines, 92, died Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at her residence.
Graveside services were held Saturday at Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Tommy Snyder officiated. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Gaines, born Aug. 1, 1923, in Durant, to the late Earl Tate and Ruby Truitt Tate, was a member of the Batesville First Baptist Church. She was a retired bookkeeper from the old Bank of Batesville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Gaines.
Survivors include: two daughters, Betty Fuqua of Baker, Fla. and Jean Poffenbeger of Foley, Ala.; one son, Kenny Gaines of Batesville; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

SARDIS––Ronica Lashun Houston, 35, died Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Viney Creek Church in Sardis. Visitation will be held Friday 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home. Burial will be held in the church cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home has charge.
Houston was born Feb. 9, 1980, in Memphis, to Willie Earl Cook of Sardis and Mary Ann Houston of Como.
Survivors along with her parents include: two sons, Gregory Houston and Travion Houston, both of Sardis; one daughter, Tiesha Houston of Sardis; two brothers, Tyrone Cook of Como and Kevin Cook of Sardis; and one sister, Felisha Houston of Como.

Joan H. Kiihnl

Joan H. Kiihnl, 75, died Saturday, February 6, 2016, in Lafayette County.
Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Burial will be held in Bethel Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.
Kiihnl, born Aug. 26, 1940, to the late Walter and Lovie Mae Weeks Hall in Panola County, retired from the Kimberly Clark Company and during her leisure time she enjoyed quilting, decorating, bird watching and painting. She also enjoyed having people join her “club” and initiated them accordingly. Mrs. Kiihnl played multiple instruments but also wrote songs.
Survivors include: her husband James “Buddy” Kiihnl; one daughter Deborah Harris (Spencer) of Bartlett, Tenn.; three sons, Gerald Kiihnl (Vanessa) of Austin, AR, Robbie Kiihnl (Jennifer) of Courtland, and Ronnie Kiihnl (Holley) of Memphis; two sisters Flora Hall of Water Valley, Annie Ruth Criswell of Courtland; one brother Larry Hall of Sardis; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Dot Hendrix, Audrey Simpson, Wanda York, Ivy McMinn, Francis Hall; two brothers Walter Gene Hall, Steve Hall and Lois Hall; and one granddaughter Victoria Kiihnl.
