Gas theft, $25,  results in fine of $384 in municipal court

Judge Jay Westfaul found a Senatobia man guilty of stealing gas after a short trial during Batesville Municipal Court held Wednesday.

Jimmy D. Bolding Jr., 115 Dogwood Lane, Senatobia, was fined $384 after being found guilty of petit larceny for stealing $25 worth in gas from Exxon.

Exxon employee Jasmine Johnson told the judge that Bolding entered the store and said he wanted to pay for his credit card.

“I told him to leave his card at the register and pump his gas,” she said.

“He went into the bathroom and went out to pump his gas and kept looking back at me as he pumped,” she testified.

The store employee then said Bolding returned into the store and said, “I’ll pay with cash. I found some in my car let me go get it.”

Johnson said that’s when Bolding left the store and drove off. She said they tried to run his credit card but it was declined and they had enough time to run out and get his tag number.
The judge found him guilty.

Kristopher Griste, 871 Hwy. 7, Oxford, was bound over to the grand jury for felony possession of firearm, simple possession of firearm in a vehicle, possession of paraphernalia, reckless driving and no proof of insurance.

Reginald L. Brown, 81 Scott Rd., Batesville, failed to appear to answer charges for disturbing the peace. Alright Bonding was notified.

Bryan M. Mullen, 219 Baker, Batesville, was fined $1,938 for possession of controlled substance, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, disorderly conduct-failure to comply and careless driving.

Meocean V. Smith, 825 McDavid St., Lambert, entered a not guilty plea to malicious mischief and had old fines of $1,416 due since December 2012. Smith was told to have fines paid in full by August 3 or serve 45 days in jail.

Nelson Butler, 1600 Third St., Marks, failed to appear for shoplifting a second time. Alright Bonding was notified.

Kevin C. Riley, 613 6th St., Marks, failed to appear to answer shoplifting charges. Riley also failed to appear last week’s court session. Alright Bonding was notified.

Marcus C. Smith, 729 McKinley St., Clarksdale, failed to appear to answer shoplifting charges. He also failed to appear last week. Alright Bonding was notified.

Nicholas Austin Sheppard, 2213 Cold Springs Rd., Sardis, entered a guilty plea to DUI and no tag. He was fined $1,006.

Davon L. Ellis, 209 Arizona, Batesville, had old fines of $2,030 due since September 2006. He also had new fines of $1,167 for running a stop sign, driving while license suspended and no proof of insurance. He was released from jail and told to return August 6 with his fines paid in full or serve more time in jail.

Kajarvis Bradford, 108 Vance St., Batesville, was found guilty of careless driving and fined $165.
